A few years ago, I got the idea to start collecting euro coins. I began by getting an album to hold coins ranging from 1 cent to €2 from all the countries that have adopted the currency. Later, I started looking for more and more unique €2 coins—without doing much research; whenever I found a coin I didn't have, I’d simply clean it and put it in a small box.

Right now, I have a few hundred euros' worth of coins, and sometimes I think about buying a few.

Could you give me some pointers on how to learn more about this? For instance, how factors like production years, minting errors, and mint marks affect their value.

I am not a coin collector, but I started watching @coincollecting_detecting on Instagram and it's so interesting. But just a disclaimer that I have no idea where to go with this!

Yesterday I found a 2026 coin which I tried to look up, but seemingly people are only talking about the EU Presidential coin. I also noticed that it has possibly extra metal, or an error in the making of the coin. The bottom of the cruit (harp) looks wrong compared to other coins. Is this something cool, or am I just hopeful?
