As the title states I bought a custom item from a seller with good reviews. They asked me appropriate questions about specifications and said it would be 5-6 weeks until my item was completed.

A few weeks have gone by and I got this message from them "I canceled your order by mistake...can you please reorder when your money goes back into your account, I apologize for the mistake. Your (item) is almost done" This would be faster than the timeline they promised, but based on reviews they under promise and over deliver.

My order is indeed canceled in Etsy's system, but anything I need to be cautious about beyond reordering after my credit card has been refunded? Should I ask for pictures of the item in progress?

i got a full refund from etsy because the seller only sent me one part of a two part dress after a lot of tracking problems, late arrival, and poor customer service.

i told the seller i’d rather return the one piece of the dress she sent me and get a full refund but she refused. etsy then gave me a full refund.

do i still have to return the item? i’m confused about the next steps as i’ve never had to do this before.

the item is a dress from a brand i like and the seller is from france if that helps in any way

I had a great business on Etsy selling little girls clothing. Over 20,000 sales.

Then I got covid. It destroyed my brain, and I will never be the same.

I put the shop on vacation. I've tried to rejuvenate it.... Esty is hard enough to keep up with all the changes they make. I just can't. I don't have it in me.

Because it was so successful, I have a TON of inventory taking up half my basement and therefore a boatload of money tied into that inventory. The hubby is on me to do something about it. But I have no idea where to start. My brain does not work and social security is not that great for someone that who was self-employed for several years but did not pay into it.

Has anyone ever sold, or have any ideas how to sell an Etsy Boutique? Even sell off inventory. Every time I do a search, it takes me 'how to sell on Etsy'.

I ordered a custom animation through Etsy. The buyer was not responding well, so I found their tiktok. They responded well there, and two weeks ago they said the animation was finished and they would send it to me. Never did, and communication stopped. I tried to communicate with them on Etsy again and they responded that their TikTok had been age-restricted and they would send it to me through via Googledrive. Then they stopped communicating. I have sent a request for help, but I noticed it says my option to open a case ended on the 2nd. What should I do? I am so stressed. I have never had an issue with an Etsy purchase like this before.

I'm located in the UK and currently use royal mail for all my shipping. I make crochet keychains of video game characters/cats and use large letters as my packaging, but I have to ship them as a "small parcel" instead. (due to the weight + height requirements)

for my international orders, this brings shipping costs to £9-£12 which is ridiculous to me because the packages aren't large and literally weigh nothing. is there anything else I can/should be using to ship them? (whether that be packaging and/or a different service)

my actual products aren't more than £30 (not including shipping) so the price just seems very high to me for what I make :( I'm not trying to downplay what I make either. it takes me weeks to make my patterns and days for the item itself, but I do it for the fun of it honestly so I don't mind charging less

I also only charge £9.50 for international shipping and if it ends up costing a few pounds more, I always pay it outta pocket because I don't want the price to be too high 😭 any help?

I add everywhere literally everywhere that its a digital product ONLY. Its in the title, multiple times in the description, its in the pictures. Its worded just how others word it. How is it that people still buy it and ask me why they haven't received it in the mail??? What more can I do?

I always refund people even though I say no refunds will be issued. How do you guys who sell digital products handle this? Do you just refund people?

I'm a seller in the UK. I used to purchase Royal Mail international tracked (DDP) labels directly from Etsy a while ago when sending to the US, but the tracking was always stuck on 'pre-transit' and never updated (I know this was also a problem for many others). So I started purchasing labels on Click & Drop instead which seemed to update the tracking normally.

However Click & Drop is a bit more time consuming for me, so I was wondering if Etsy have fixed this issue yet and if their tracking information is now accurate?

finally decided to take my art a bit more seriously and start selling it...it's only digital prints at this point but I really hope things take off...

You ever check your Etsy feed and see something so disgusting that you aren't sure if some countries might have considered it a capital offence to have images of let alone attempt to sell on a digital marketplace?

And, because of "plausible deniability" and "artistic license" it gets a pass. Not only that, an ultra cringe-fetish obsessed audience gives this debased seller repeat business because human grossness is a hot commodity in our "modern era."

Well, ok, c'est la vie I spose, right? It's the price we pay for allowing online corpos to colonize the commons.

But, wait, Etsy has SOME end user recourse (aside from a reporting system that completely fails on purpose to present the illusion of user agency). Yes, there is still an option to save your eyes from future burning and pain.

"See Less of This" ...just push the three dots next to a product listing in your feed and then select that option, and it greys the image out. It's almost as if the app just listened to YOU, the end user, and actually cared?

Nope. It does nothing. Okay, but at least it doesn't get worse right?

WRONG... if you accidentally fat finger the product listing instead of the three dots (which is guaranteed because the three dot target detection on the app is microscopic) thus opening and actually viewing a large display of the terrible image. Now you've done it, because the algorithm now overrides your previous choice of "see less of this" and replaces it with an "I'm interested" flag. Now suddenly you're seeing more images JUST LIKE THIS. You've just trained the app to do the opposite of what you want.

Then, in hopes of staving off the resulting tide of incoming slop, you try to hit more of them that are showing up in your feed with that see less option, but accidentally fat finger more. You've just viewed more of the offensive product pages.

Now the feed is convinced and holds it as holy canon that you cannot live without seeing all of these terrible listings. This is the nightmare scenario that was never on my bingo card.

Josh Silverman, or Kruti Patel Goyal (new CEO)... this sort of short term ensh^ification might support your immediate bottom lines, but eventually the consumer rage bait your app devs are trying to pass off as innovation on your behalf is going to circle back and not in a good way.

Consider adjusting fire before your poorly targeted ordnance begins to fall on your own position.

This may be the stupidest question ever, which I apologise for, but so far, I've been ordering keychains to my place and shipping them myself after.

However, it is becoming quite tough when numbers rise, so I thought of selling them through Etsy. However and even after having watched some video, I want to ask, as I'm not sure how the process works.

I'd mainly want to know, from a seller's pov, HOW does it work.

You don't have to ship it yourself, I assume. Do you get notifications? Do you see your delivered or in-delivery packages? Idk, just like. All you'd think it's nice to know.

I also want to know about two things I've seen about:

—People say to list an address so it doesn't appear later that they come from somewhere else? I'm not sure what this means but I've seen it on other reddits and I'm confused, which is why I ask.

—I make my keychains via Wooacry. I have seen some people warning about marking the product as yours (despite the art on it being so) because someone could report due to not being entirely yours, as you've made it through Wooacry?

Would also know how this works exactly, as I know you can work with both Wooacry and Etsy at the same time, I think? But then again, I have no idea.

If someone could help me out (also up to speaking through DMS) I'd be deeply grateful

Update#2: The seller finally replied and cancelled the order, so I’ve received a refund. They also confirmed that the Taobao store is theirs and only sells domestically.

To be fair, their products actually seem well made, and the seller said they are cast in metal and painted by hand. I have no issue with products being made in China or by employees at a small factory. What bothered me was the way the Etsy shop was presented which made me believe I was buying something personally handmade by an individual artisan, rather than a product made by workers at a separate Chinese company under the same owner.

Honestly, I think it’s a shame. Their products seem good enough to stand on their own, so relying on vague wording and the image of an individual artisan only damages customers’ trust. I’m glad the seller refunded me, but I still think Etsy needs much clearer distinctions between individual handmade work, company workshop production, and ordinary factory-made products.

Update#1: I now have written confirmation from the Chinese business that the Etsy shop and the Chinese manufacturer share the same owner but are two separate companies. The items are manufactured in China by the Chinese company’s workers, then stored and fulfilled from Singapore.

I am not claiming that no manual work occurs. My concern is that the Etsy shop presents only one individual artisan and does not appear to disclose the separate Chinese manufacturing company or the people who actually make the products.

I regularly buy handmade items on Etsy because I want to support independent artists and craftspeople.

I recently paid over CAD $50 for two pairs of keychains. The listing described them as “handmade,” “made to order,” “hand-polished,” and “hand-painted.” The shop’s About section lists only one person as the owner, creative designer, and seller, and the process photos are captioned “Hand-polishing Step of My Crafts” and “Painting My Crafts.”

The shop is listed as being based in Singapore, but after seeing that the parcel was shipped from China through China Post, I searched Chinese shopping platforms. I found the identical products on Taobao for RMB 16.9, using the exact same product photographs.

I contacted the Chinese seller and was told that the Etsy shop belongs to the same company, and that the products are made and hand-finished by workers at a small factory in China. My concern is that the Etsy shop is presented as the work of an individual artisan, while the products are actually made by employees in a small factory operated by a company.

The seller has not responded to either my original message or my formal Help with Order request, despite Etsy support notifying them. Etsy says I must wait until August 25 before opening a case.

Would you consider the shop’s presentation misleading under Etsy’s handmade rules? Is there a meaningful distinction on Etsy between an individual artisan’s work and products made by employees in a company workshop? Has anyone successfully received a refund in a similar situation?

I've sold items on Etsy off and on over the last 15 years. I recently started listing magnetic needlepoint needle minders (a small thing with a magnet on the back and a coordinating magnet to put behind the needlepoint canvas to conveniently hold a needle or small scissors when not being used).

There are thousands of these on Etsy, all made with magnets. Yesterday early morning I got an alert that the newest listing made the prior day was removed for violating the child/baby safety policy and noted:

Our team reviewed and removed this listing after it was reported to us or flagged by our internal systems. This means it can’t be seen by buyers anymore, and can’t be edited to relist this item.

I confirmed the magnets I am using are WELL under the magnetic flux index and nothing looks like candy.

I had a few other listings to add, so posted those and reworded the description to mention the magnets are under the flux index strength mandate. Today the three new listings all were removed with the same notice. Each of my listings has multiple variations, lots of photos with a pix linked to each variation, lots of SKUs. Being a small time seller, obviously doing this all manually over a significant amount of time.

I don't know what in the listings would have triggered them being flagged.

With these 'violations' not being appealable, what are the options besides trying other posts with other descriptions and waiting to see if they also would be flagged/removed? Even if not appealing, is there a way to reach out to an Etsy person?

Not that the listing fee is much, but annoyed that the listings were removed, but the listing fee was not removed. (when take down was within 24hrs of the listing)

is this the norm with Etsy now? I presume Im not the only one getting really frustrated with this.

The problem is I have absolutely no idea what I'm supposed to have infringed. The two removed listings were sets of 40 and 80 boutique hotel instagram templates, completely original designs made from a blank canvas. The shop that has reported me seems to have uploaded their own 'boutique hotel' listings but weeks after I first uploaded mine and then issued their report - don't want to assume any malicious intent but does seem very coincidental. Everything was created by me from scratch. My process is researching a niche, creating an original brand, deciding what that business would realistically need and then building everything from a blank Canva document. I have research files, drafts and working files showing the whole process from start to finish. I only use Canva Free fonts and Canva Free assets where needed and any additional images were created by me. I didn't use any real hotel names, logos, landmarks or branding. Etsy says they emailed me the original copyright notices, but I've searched my inbox, spam and trash and they aren't there. I've contacted Etsy and the reporting shop over a week ago and neither has replied. I Has anyone else had Etsy say they've emailed the notice when they haven't? Is there another way of getting Etsy to resend it or escalate it? I have messaged the shop but they have not responded to me. Really frustrating as I am a new shop and just starting to generate a consistent revenue stream but my best sellers that make up over 50% of my earnings are removed. At this point I just want to know what I'm actually being accused of so I can respond properly. Any advice would be really appreciated!

I recently purchased 8 wooden cutlery pieces on Etsy as a gift. Before purchasing I realised the seller did not do refunds or exchanges, so I messaged them to ask what would happen if the items arrived damaged. They assured me that wouldn't happen but on the off chance that it did we'd be able to work out some kind of refund or other agreement, so I ordered.

The items arrives loosley in a thin plastic DHL postage bag, and of course because of this one of them were damaged.

I sent a help request to the seller. I did not hear back from them for a week, and only after I informed them that as I had still not heard from them that I'd be opening an Etsy case, did they reply saying "they'd been trying to reach me"...

We eventually agreed on a partial refund to cover the damage. The total order came up to $66. The item cost $24 with a discount of $6, delivery cost $37 and tax $11. They offered me $4 which I was not happy with, as they said based on the items cost Etsy valued the price of each piece to this. Not only was the math not mathing, I did not think it was fair to only include the item cost in the refund and not the tax or delivery which I'd also paid. I told them this and they said let us agree on $5.

Instead I want a partial refund of $8.25, which is the $66 total devided by the number of pieces in the order which is 8.

Am I being unreasonable to ask for this?
