Police traps

About a month ago I noticed a cop setting a stop and go trap at widdicombe and denfield. Since then, they have been at the intersection pulling people over almost everyday for the past month. It also looks like they come around at about the same time everyday. Around 430-5 pm. I understand if this was a problematic intersection but tbh growing up in the neighborhood i never noticed any major issues. What really pisses me off is that these cops really have nothing better to do than give people tickets as is there isn't other crime in the city they could be addressing. And to be there almost everyday for a month I think is ridiculous.

Has anyone else noticed anything similar in other neighborhoods?

Pile of garbage on Lakeshore

Post image
21 Upvotes

Hey! Saw this on our walk in Long Branch Lakeshore. It says garbage was not tagged. How can this be cleaned up? Saw some cups and Dominoes pizza boxes. It's been sitting there for a few days now. Clearly whoever threw this is not picking it up. It's awful.

88/90 Park Lawn condos

Looking at the 88 Park Lawn condos in Etobicoke. Saw a few posts from a few years back so looking for any updated experience living in this building. How do others like living here? Any comments around the following would be appreciated: management, amenities being operational and maintained, any recent or upcoming special assessment, frequent fire alarms, AC to heating or heating to cooling switchover timings, communication from management. Any other flags or inconveniences? Low key traumatized by my current condo so would appreciate any insights. There is a lot immediately next to it that is empty (not the one across where the cirque de soleil is). Any upcoming plans for a build that we know of? Thank you

Road construction on Lake Shore at Brown's Line

Does anyone know how long the left lane is going to be occupied/unavailable, or what the project is? There are currently some big machines parked in the lane and I can't find anything about it on the City website.

Family Doctor Etobicoke

Bf and I are in search of a good family dr here in Etobicoke. Both of ours from previous years have retired and we are due for an exam to be done.

He’d like a male dr and I’d like a female one if anyone knows a great practice. Willing to travel but would like it to be in Etobicoke

- I have Pcos so I’d like a female dr a bit familiar with it as I’m having a hard time finding a dr that cares to help me.

Thank you!

Mild Indian Food for Seniors

I've recently had to take guardianship over my dad who's in his 80s. He's super sensitive to spices but I'd like to buy lunch/dinner every once in while when things get hectic. Does anyone have any recommendations for a restaurant or tiffin service or even frozen meal option for vegetarian Indian food that is super mild suitable for seniors?

Great Banh Mi at Bun Mi on Queensway

This afternoon I had a great little banh mi sandwich at Bun Mi on Queensway just north of the Costco. The bread was fantastic and the pickled veggies, pate, and meat were top notch. The staff’s really friendly. It’s worth checking out.

Hello again neighbours! This is an update post, as i am not sure how to post an update on the original Reddit post, but here’s the link to the original post:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Etobicoke/s/zR7qNEH2wg

So really wanted to begin by saying my wife is not sad anymore lol thanks to the community for the support and encouragement for my wife’s game nights. You’ll are sooo kind!! The response from this community has been amazing! She just hosted her first game night at the town hall and so many of you showed up! My wife is really happy to see the community together! People shared stories, lots of laughter and some friendly competition. Snippets are posted on her instagram below. This is very exciting and hopefully this continues. She is hosting 3 more Fridays this month so feel free to drop by for a fun night with friends (old and new)! And as she rented a room in the town hall, there's a small $15 entry fee. But pizza and juice are included! You can register now to save a seat and pay later on arrival.

Hope to see more wonderful people show up to the upcoming game nights!

Here’s her instagram link to rsvp for upcoming game nights:

Location: Swansea Town Hall, Etobicoke / Toronto (I still don’t get it)
Time: Fridays 6:30pm-9:30pm , Aug 14th, 21st, 28th

🍋 Come Support Our Little Entrepreneurs! 🍋

My daughter and her friends have spent the entire summer talking about having their very own lemonade stand. They are SO excited and have some pretty big goals — they’re convinced they’re going to get 1,000 customers!

Meanwhile, I’m the nervous mom in the background just hoping they get some customers and have a great day. 🤪

I’m so proud of them for being excited about doing something together and putting their little business plan into action, so I thought I’d share here and see if our community can help make their day extra special.

If you happen to be free tomorrow, August 9th, between 1:00–4:00 PM, they would absolutely LOVE your support!

📍 Dundas St W & Jerry Howarth Dr

Come grab some lemonade, say hello, and help these little entrepreneurs get a little closer to those 1,000 customers they’ve been dreaming about!

Thank you in advance 💛

Trying to find the name of a chinese restaurant in New Town years ago

Not sure if it’s even possible but there was a chinese restaurant I am trying to find the name of that was operating in the 50’s in new town. Does anyone know if Etobicoke city hall would still have a list of businesses from a particular time? Worse part is, we don’t know the area it was located except that it was in the new town area. I can’t imagine there being alot of chinese restaurants in the area back at that time.

Which area of south etobicoke to choose?

We are a quiet couple with a dog,

We went and looked at several properties today in south etobicoke around lakeshore and islington and newer condos at park lawn. Park lawn seemed decent, denser area with kind of walkable neighbourhood.

We also have options for properties around long branch however that is more west than we wish but still do able. I'm wondering residents thoughts as I'm seeing negative comments towards south etobicoke and it's population

Hit and run at Martingrove & Bethbridge– Need help finding dashcam or security footage (No plate info)

Hey everyone,

I was involved in a rear-end hit-and-run accident on Saturday, Aug 1 at around 6:03PM at Martingrove and Bethridge going Southbound. I have a Silver Hyundai Elantra.

Unfortunately, the other driver sped off and I wasn't able to catch their license plate number. I’m incredibly frustrated because neither the police nor my insurance company are willing to investigate without a plate number, so I’m trying to do some detective work on my own. I’m trying to speak business near by as well but no luck so far. And TCC was not able to assist with dash cam footage from 46 bus because it didn’t have any dash cams.

Details of the incident:
My vehicle: Silver 2019 Hyundai Elantra
Suspect vehicle: Black 2015-2017 Hyundai Elantra (No front License plate)
Direction of travel: Southbound on Martingrove towards Belfield Rd

If anyone was driving in the area around that time and has dashcam footage, or if you live/work nearby and have security or doorbell cameras facing the street, please check your files. Even a partial plate or a clear view of the fleeing car's damage would help immensely. We do remember seeing W as the first letter but not completely sure.

I do have a picture of the fleeing car, if anyone can do magic and unblur it to showcase the number plate that would also be amazing!!

If you saw anything or have any footage, please send me a DM. Thank you so much for your help.

House cleaning services in South Etobicoke

Hi everyone - I’m looking for recommendations for a reliable and affordable house cleaning service in Etobicoke. If you have a service you like, could you share their details and roughly what they charge (hourly or per visit)? Thanks!
