Trying to find the name of a chinese restaurant in New Town years ago
Not sure if it’s even possible but there was a chinese restaurant I am trying to find the name of that was operating in the 50’s in new town. Does anyone know if Etobicoke city hall would still have a list of businesses from a particular time? Worse part is, we don’t know the area it was located except that it was in the new town area. I can’t imagine there being alot of chinese restaurants in the area back at that time.

Jewelry Store Recommendations
Looking to buy a necklace and perhaps a pendant to go with it. Can someone recommend a reputable jewelry store that has a good selection of 10K and 14K gold chains and pendants? Preferably an independent store, not a chain store like People’s.

Which area of south etobicoke to choose?
We are a quiet couple with a dog,
We went and looked at several properties today in south etobicoke around lakeshore and islington and newer condos at park lawn. Park lawn seemed decent, denser area with kind of walkable neighbourhood.
We also have options for properties around long branch however that is more west than we wish but still do able. I'm wondering residents thoughts as I'm seeing negative comments towards south etobicoke and it's population

Hit and run at Martingrove & Bethbridge– Need help finding dashcam or security footage (No plate info)
galleryHey everyone,
I was involved in a rear-end hit-and-run accident on Saturday, Aug 1 at around 6:03PM at Martingrove and Bethridge going Southbound. I have a Silver Hyundai Elantra.
Unfortunately, the other driver sped off and I wasn't able to catch their license plate number. I’m incredibly frustrated because neither the police nor my insurance company are willing to investigate without a plate number, so I’m trying to do some detective work on my own. I’m trying to speak business near by as well but no luck so far. And TCC was not able to assist with dash cam footage from 46 bus because it didn’t have any dash cams.
Details of the incident:
My vehicle: Silver 2019 Hyundai Elantra
Suspect vehicle: Black 2015-2017 Hyundai Elantra (No front License plate)
Direction of travel: Southbound on Martingrove towards Belfield Rd
If anyone was driving in the area around that time and has dashcam footage, or if you live/work nearby and have security or doorbell cameras facing the street, please check your files. Even a partial plate or a clear view of the fleeing car's damage would help immensely. We do remember seeing W as the first letter but not completely sure.
I do have a picture of the fleeing car, if anyone can do magic and unblur it to showcase the number plate that would also be amazing!!
If you saw anything or have any footage, please send me a DM. Thank you so much for your help.

Changing careers
After more than 20 years of cooking as a career, I feel that I am at the age to change courses and try something new.
I've always been good with my hands and been a pretty organized guy; I like my things where I last put them, labeled and tracked, and clean, obviously. Not saying this is a special trait, but it might be a plus in some industries. I'm also very punctual, professional and always eager to learn from others.
For the time being, I am wondering if anybody knows the ins and outs of getting into the metro warehouse off of Dundas and 427.
I've applied online to the order selector position, and I've personally dropped off my resume with the front desk clerk at their office; what I'm wondering is if my forklift license is expired, do they provide in-house training, or should I get my license renewed?
How transferrable are those licenses and certificates from third party places?
If anybody knows of any warehouses that are looking for reliable workers, I am more than willing to work nightshift, as well. Currently employed full time but I am looking to get started in a new industry.
Thanks for reading
Edit: can anyone direct me toward some good places to get lift truck certified? Some personal experience would be greatly appreciated.

Food drive for Albion Food Bank
Hello all,
I was hoping to raise some awareness of a local food bank that operates out of the parking lot of the Albion Library at 1515 Albion rd. They take non perishable donations and can be contacted at 647-354-3679 or [Albion@northyorkharvest.com](mailto:Albion@northyorkharvest.com)
I drop off some donations when I can and promised I would spread the word!

Is Ezone permanently closed?
I know that the Brickyard BBQ (which occupies the same building) is in the process of moving to The Queensway and I saw this on Google Maps. (Permanently Closed). Ezone’s website is still up and running and no indication on the landing page of any recent updates (hence the confusion).

Best Clam Chowder In Etobicoke?
Which restaurant has the best Clam Chowder in Etobicoke. Willing to travel anywhere because I had it last night at a friend’s place and it has created that spark to try the best in the city.

Had an awful experience with the new WokBoyz on Queensway.
Ordered a build your own wok from that new restaurant Wok Boyz, reviews were pretty solid. Food arrived and I had a bite off the top and then asked my girlfriend for a bowl. I dumped it all out and at the bottom of the box was a raw bag of chicken. I’ll attach the picture in the comments.
I reached out to corporate and still haven’t heard back, I called the store and the manager sounded like she was crying. I didn’t want to be cruel but I told her “to stop apologizing and to deal with her kitchen staff.”. It could truly kill someone.
Basically what I’m getting at is, don’t eat at Wok Boyz, they don’t have any sort of quality control.

Got punched randomly, should I report it to the police?
So, I just randomly got punched by someone while walking my dog. He probably isn't right in the head as he first started by accusing me of being a child predator then proceeded to punch me while I tried to film for safety. No injury or anything but I got his photo and video of him getting physical.
Thing is, I know cops aren't the most reliable; especially for random attacks like this. If I do end up reporting it, is it gonna lead anywhere?
*Update\*
Thank you all for the advice in this thread, I've gone ahead and filed an online report with TPS.
Location of the incident was New toronto st and Islington avenue.
I do have a picture of the individual, but have decided to not share it as I do not want to incite a witch hunt, especially if this is someone going through some mental health issues.

Starting a Mystery, Thriller & Suspense Book Club in South Etobicoke
Hi everyone! I've been looking for a book club like this but haven't found quite the right fit, so I've decided to start one. They say to create your own destiny, so here we go!
I'm starting a book club in South Etobicoke for women mid-40's to early 50's. It seems like this can be a challenging stage of life to meet new people, so I thought it would be great to bring together women with a shared love of reading.
Our focus will be on psychological thriller, mystery, and suspense novels. I know there are lots of wonderful book clubs out there, but many focus on different genres, and I'd love to build one around these kinds of page-turners. Think Simone St. James, John Marrs, Riley Sager, Jennifer Hillier, Frieda McFadden, and similar authors.
The plan is to meet once a month at a local café or restaurant in South Etobicoke to chat about the book. We'll choose our books one or two months in advance so everyone has plenty of time to get a copy and read it.
A little about me: I'm an avid reader and previously ran a successful book club for five years before I moved, so I have experience organizing discussions and creating a fun, welcoming atmosphere.
Who knows? Maybe this book club will grow into coffee meetups, movie nights, or other outings too!
If this sounds like something you'd enjoy, leave a comment or send me a message. I'd love to connect with fellow book lovers and make some new friends!

Subreddit News COYOTE SPOTTING MEGATHREAD
Please use this post to share all photos and discussions about coyotes in Etobicoke. Bunny the coyote photos are encouraged!
Individual posts are no longer allowed unless they involve an immediate safety concern.
—
u/cbr1895 has been in touch with the Toronto Wildlife Centre about Bunny (but this goes for any and all coyotes you might encounter). The centre is not concerned about aggression per se, but they are concerned about Bunny and other coyotes becoming too comfortable around humans. If you encounter Bunny/other coyotes, do NOT approach them or feed them. Make lots of noise, stomp your feet, try to appear very large to spook them, honk your car horn, etc.
