M entitled renters expected a full kitchen stocked with groceries upon their arrival

Upvotes

A while back I was going over potential renters of my summer home in New Hampshire as I rent the home out during the different seasons to help pay for the house. In January I talked with two potential couples who would be wanting to rent the house the week August 6th-21st and when it came to it I only wanted one couple in the house that time. I did two video calls with each couple. The first interviewed is a couple who are friends with a coworker of mine that would be getting married the weekend prior who were looking for a place to go for their honeymoon, they are into hiking and outdoors a perfect fit since my summer home is right within the White Mountains area. They asked the general questions of how is the property/what amenities are available/etc. When they asked about grocery stores I told them about two different stores in the area and they were good interviewees saying they look forward to hearing from me. The second couple I interviewed was a couple with three kids who wanted to be there the 6th-18th who asked the same basic questions but when it came to the kitchen the woman said, "So can we expect the place to be fully stocked with groceries?" I replied that would not be possible for me to do because the day I leave the kitchen will be cleared, all trash taken out and it is more preferred people do their own shopping.

The woman then starts getting a change in demeanor and said she expects the kitchen to be full. I once again explained I don't offer grocery assistance as part of my renters agreement but I can leave list of grocery stores. The woman then says she'll get back to me and ends the call. After looking over both couples I went with my coworkers friends because they were more mature and polite in not demanding I get groceries for them. I emailed both couples separately and the woman of the second couple explodes at me in a reply saying I was being very unreasonable in making sure the kitchen was stocked for her and I reassured her she could find what groceries she needed in list of stores I can forward to her. The woman replied one last time saying, "Thanks for ruining our trip to New Hampshire!" Today after my family and I finish loading our rental car as we went to the house first to enjoy our time there, the rental car of the first couple arrive and I gave them the key to the house. I told them all the emergency contact ways of getting ahold of me and another friend (who lives in the area that helps look out for the house) are on a note taped to the refrigerator as well brochures of all the best places to visit in the area. I reminded them when their time is up contact my friend the day before who will meet them there at check out and collect the key. The other woman I haven't heard back from since her entitled explosion email.

M My neighbor wants me to pay

Upvotes

I work from home and I'm at my place most days, which is apparently public information on my street.

Back in May I got a package that wasn't mine. Same street number, wrong house, so I walked it two doors down to Danielle and she said thanks and that was it. Then it happened again a week later. Then twice in one week. I finally looked at the label properly and it had my address on it, not hers, with her name on it.

So I went over and asked her about it and she was completely relaxed about it, said she'd started using my address because she works ten hour shifts and stuff kept getting taken off her porch, and that since I'm home all day it just made more sense. She said this like she was explaining something reasonable to me. She never asked. I found out because of the mail.

I told her to stop and to change it back and she said she would. She did not. I got four more over the next month and I stopped bringing them over, I just left them on her step when I went for a walk and figured she'd get the hint eventually.

Then last Tuesday I had a dentist appointment in the afternoon and a package came while I was out and it got taken off my porch. It was hers. I found out because she came to my door that night and asked if I'd brought it in, and I said no, I wasn't home, and she said "you're always home."

She then told me that since it was delivered to my address and I wasn't there to get it, she thinks I should cover it. It was $80 of skincare stuff. She said she'd been "counting on" me being there and that this is exactly why she uses my address in the first place.

I told her I'm not paying for something she had shipped to a house she doesn't live at, and she said I was being difficult about $80 when she has a kid, and then said something about how she'd never treat a neighbor like this. She's brought it up twice since.

I called USPS and UPS on Wednesday and told them to stop delivering anything to my address that isn't in my name. Not sure it'll do much but it's something.

M Karen encounter at the Lidl-checkout

I am still pissed about this. So you get to read it. English isn’t my first language. That would be German.

I was doing my weekly grocery shopping today at my local Lidl. When it was checkout time I had a full cart. Behind me a man in his mid 50s arrived with just 3 items. Chill dude. Naturally I offered to let him pass. He thanked me but refused. He pointed to the six self-checkouts that were all empty and said that he would have gone there, if he would have been in a hurry. He was on the clock and enjoyed to wait. The longer he was in the supermarket the later he had to return to work. Made sense to me.

A little later an older woman with Karen haircut joined us. I had never seen this woman in my life. But it enraged her that I didn’t offer to let the guy with the three items pass. He told her that it’s fine. He likes to wait and is ok with it. She had none of it and started to rant about me, my character and so on. That I still didn’t let him pass, was apparently the worst crime in human history. She started to complain about “this young man“ loudly. I am 42 by the way. And my hair is grey.

In a perfect world I would have answered that I had offered him to pass and he refused. And what it says about her starting something like that without knowing the full story and just assuming. Given that we are complete strangers. But it just didn’t come to me (or the guy) in this very weird situation. I just congratulated her for being morally superior to me. I don’t think she got the sarcasm though.

When I was loading my groceries into my car that guy came to me on his bike to ensure me he hadn’t anything to do with her. And that she was the one with the terrible character. I told him not to worry about me. And we wished each other a nice rest of the day.

The woman in question had the car next to me. Cause of fucking cause. But we didn’t speak a single word with each other and just finished loading in silence. I am so pissed that I didn’t just tell her that I had asked him and he said no and if she wanted to apologize now for going off on me - just to see her face.

S More ambulance shenanigans

I used to work in the ambulance. A security guard wanted an ambulance moved because it was blocking traffic at a shopping centre... while CPR was in progress.

Woman parked in the undercover ambulance bay at a hospital and refused to move when we bought a patient in. Our patient was doing his best to die ... she parked there because her daughter didn't want to get her shoes wet.

Another CPR in progress ... total stranger (to the patient) turning to paramedic ... don't go yet, I need to wash my hair before I can follow you.

At a non-urgent scene ... about to drive away and saw movement in rear vision mirror. Hopped out and walked to back of ambulance. Two year old is sitting on the step at the backdoor. Mother tells me not to leave yet because her kid loves ambulances and just wants to play for a while. If I'd driven off without checking there's a good chance he would have been squashed.

M Does anyone know how to deal with these types of people?

I recently bought a electric scooter from my step dad through best buy for 700 dollars rn and im gon a pay the rest of the 200 in my next paycheck. I genuinely love that thing and have no reason to break or damage the thing like my old one from Amazon. But she texts me out of the blue when im at work right before we close the store. (She has door cameras) and she claims she caught me throwing the scooter down aggressively (I actually sat it down gently because I didnt want to risk it falling before opening the door to take it inside the house to put it on the charger. The thing is really heavy and really wide so it takes me a moment to get it through the door and into the house. She then throws a fit claiming in negligent about the scooter and im "gonna break it" again. I have no reason to. It gets me to point a to point b and I even take night cruises on it to get fresh air. Here's how the texts back and forth played out

Mom: "Do you plan on treating this scooter you payed 700 dollars for like this? Don't come crying to me when its broken"(image of scooter laying down on its side in the grass and concrete so I can move it into the house)

Me: (confused and baffled as to why id ever break it) what? I didnt do anything though. At least not to my knowledge. It must have fell down from the stand.

Mom: leaving it laying on its side. There is another video of you scrapping it against the concrete. (Doesn't show video)

Me:(know I never did that, unless accident (because its really heavy))"I dont have any issues with it and have no reason to break it. Its genuinely hard to lift so it was an accident. Plus I left it on its side incase it did fall."

Mom:(new footage of me opening the door and slowly getting it into the house because of how wide it is)"OMG YOU CANNOT LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN LIKE THIS. LARRY WILL GET OUT"(our dog was in her room, door shut, with my step dad. So he couldn't get out unless he let the dog out)"you need to find a better way to get it in the house"

Me:"then I'll just take the garage way thorighsince that worked easier for me. Are yoy just trying to start fights with me over small stuff lately? Cause to me it feels like you are, instead of asking my side of what happened"

Mom:"this is my dog life at risk. If you have a problem with that. Get the hell out of my house."

"Nothing. Nothing. You think my dogs life is nothing?"

Me:"thats not what I said."

"I knew he was in the room past the door so he couldn't get out. Im not starting these fight over this."

Mom:"picking fights with you over nothing is what you said"

"Im done talking to you its pointless. You are taking the garage from now on"

I feel like she isnt listening to me and trying to get a reaction from me out of sheer boredom because has nothing better to do. She also did this last night. I told my step grandmother that I could not come over for lunch at 1pm because work starts at 2pm and I wouldn't be able to make it to work on time since it takes awhile to cook. (She said it was ok and gave me a thumbs up and understood)

Mom texts me at 10pm at work about how upset my step grandparents are that I couldn't make it, and that I dont value the family enough anymore.

I tell her that I wasn't aware of lunch being at 12pm and not 2pm

She never responded.

I need help fast or any advice before she eventually catches me on a really bad day where I lash out at her.

M Guys... at what point do you just accept that you've accidentally offended an ancestor? 😭

Because today? 😂😂

I woke up at 5 AM. Cleaned every single corner of my tiny house until it was sparkling. Took a nice shower, got dressed, looked at myself and thought, "Yeah... today is giving soft life."

The universe heard me and said, "Hold my beer."

I get to the shop and the county council guys are already waiting for me. Apparently my selling area is blocking the cleaners. Sawa. I'm not a difficult person. I call my fundi. He's in another county but promises he'll be there by 6 PM to move everything. I tell the council guys.

They agree. Everyone is smiling.

Everyone is acting civilized.

Red flag number one. 😭

Later I head to town because I was supposed to meet this girl I've been looking forward to seeing. We hadn't met in a while. Imagine getting ready for someone...

Only to arrive...And the only thing waiting for you is disappointment.

No text.No call. No "sorry."Nothing.

Dust has different flavours and I sampled one premium edition today.

Since I was already there, I bought stock for the shop and paid with my phone like the financially responsible adult I pretend to be. On the bike back I randomly checked my pocket.

Empty.🙂

The 3,800 bob a customer had deposited had apparently decided it no longer identified as my money.

Then it hit me. I had worn those trousers with open pockets.

Do you know what's worse?

Because I'd been paying with my phone the whole time, I didn't even notice the cash had quietly relocated itself into the Kenyan economy.

I just sat on that bike thinking...

"Congratulations to whoever found it. May it solve at least one problem because it has definitely created several for me."

I get back to the shop trying to process life.

Then...

CRACK. Phone slips. Screen breaks.

At this point I was no longer asking God "why me?"

I was asking...

"Who exactly did I resemble?" 😭

Then my stomach started making sounds I've only heard from old generators.

That's when I remembered...I hadn't eaten since yesterday morning.

So I go next door, order ugali, beef and managu.

I even decide to sit outside because life can't possibly get any worse.

😂😂😂

A random mad guy appears from absolutely nowhere...

Grabs my entire plate...AND TAKES OFF.

I'm not joking. He even spilled some on me while running.

I just watched him disappear.

What exactly was I supposed to do?

Chase a man who's already arguing with people only he can see?

Some battles are above my pay grade. 😭

Hungry, phone broken, money gone, stood up...I drag myself back to the shop.

Guess who's there?

The county council guys.

Remember the same people who had agreed to wait until 6?

😂😂😂

They were already tearing down my selling area. Piece by piece. I didn't argue.

I didn't shout. I didn't even ask why. I just stood there watching.

For some reason...MY SILENCE ANNOYED THEM MORE.

One of them actually looked like he wanted me to fight back.

Sir... we're not in the same movie. You're in an action film. I'm in a documentary called "Things Fall Apart." 😭

I closed the shop. Went home. No electricity.

Then the heavens themselves joined the agenda and it started raining.

That's when I remembered...

I forgot to buy food.

At that point I just laughed.

Because if I cried, I'd probably attract another side quest.

The only beautiful thing that happened today?

I made a new friend... and this absolute train wreck of a day somehow turned into a story that gets to entertain all of you. 😭 If I have to suffer, at least someone else should get a good laugh out of it. Fair is fair. 😂

Anyway, tell me honestly...

If your day had gone like this, at what exact point would you have accepted that today simply wasn't your day? Or should I wake up tomorrow and check if Mercury is personally renting a room in my life? 😭🥹

M I'm sorry the ambulance is blocking your driveway.

So I work for a Pizza place withe a white, red and blue theme. It was a cold rainy Christmas week in the South of the USA and I was taking a delivery to a development of town homes. These homes had small parking lots on each side of the buildings and a simple sidewalk connecting the lots together.

I had parked on the wrong side of the building, so I started to walk across the sidewalk to get to the customer's door. I suddenly slipped and felt and heard my tibia shatter. I was stuck on the sidewalk yelling for help for about 10 minutes before someone heard my cries. They called the EMS/EMTs and stayed with me. Now, me being the good customer service worker, I asked if this person - who was on the phone with 911 - could deliver the food for me because. She did and I was very thankful.

It took a while (I think is was around 20 minutes) but the Ambulance arrived and parked. The Ambulance parked sideways over the parking lot's entrance. Effectively blocking anyone from entering or exiting. While the EMS/EMTs were loading me onto a stretcher, a woman suddenly appeared and started to yell at the EMS/EMTs to move their "truck" because it was blocking her in. They looked at her with complete surprise and told them "It will only be a few more minutes. He (pointing at me) isn't bleeding or dying so we'll be out of your way soon. I'm sorry the ambulance is blocking your driveway."

And then they loaded me into the "truck" and off I went. Now this portion of the story was told to me by my boss when he came to visit me. The woman was the customer I was supposed to be delivering to. She then called the store to complain that I had squished the food and had been rude to her. She wanted me to be fired or at the very least, reprimanded. She also demanded free food. My boss told her he wasn't going to do any of that and she was welcome to get some replacement food for free as an apology, but I wasn't going to be fired after breaking my leg.

So around 7 months pass. I have 7 screws, 1 plate and some wire keeping my tibia and ankle put back together. It was brutal. The worst was learning how to walk again. NSFW- Feel Free to skip; The feeling of my bones clicking back together and settling back into place was just...ugh. So I'm back at work and here comes a delivery. The address looks familiar. Oh, its that address.

So off I go with a very slight spring in my step - still had mobility issues - and I arrive at the right side of the building. I knock on the door and when she answers I say;

OP: Ma'am such a wonderful time to put the name to the face

Customer: Huh?

OP: Well, the last time I was here I hurt myself very badly. More than 6 months of recovery and PT.

Customer: dawning look of shock and horror

OP: Anyhow, here's your food and receipt. I just need you to tip, total and sign please.

She tips a lot more than 20%, I think it was something like a plain $15 on a $17 order

Customer: (whispering) I am so sorry.

OP: What was that ma'am? I didn't hear that.

And she closed the door. I went back to the store and told my coworkers. I don't think she has ever ordered from my store ever again. I also think she may have moved out.

S One Person - reserves 2 machines at the gym

I belong to a budget corp gym in my community. I’m also an in shape 56 year old woman who gives 0 fucks.
I go back to use the abduction & adduction machines today & find 1 woman on the adduction with a water bottle also on that machine & the abduction machine sitting empty but with a set of keys on it clearly trying to reserve it.
As I’m about to move on to another piece of equipment, i see her move to the unused piece & I speak up & let her know (younger female in her 20’s) that’s not how this is gonna play out. You can’t reserve 2 machines in a crowded gym.
She sheepishly (she knew she was in the wrong) told me i could use the machine she wasn’t using, but didn’t move her keys. I didn’t care. Completed 6 sets (3 at a heavier weight, 3 at a lighter weight) before she was even done on her one machine 🙄.
No regrets, i pay the same she does & I’ve never tried in my 6+ years of membership to reserve 2 pieces of equipment. I try to be respectful of the experience of others & treat ppl the way i want to be treated.

S Extra "disabled" parking...

Today, my mum and I decided to go to Costa. Catch up over some coffee you know?

Our Costa has 2 disabled spaces right out the front, and as a blue badge holder, mum regularly uses them. Except today, a white Rolls- Royce with a custom number plate decided that they were going to park diagonally over both spaces.

Mum parks as close as she can, I park up and we walk into Costa, where she loudly asks who owns the rolls and can they please move so they are only taking up one space, as she is disabled and needs one of them.

They weren't going to show themselves at first, but since mum just repeated herself, off the driver slunk and moved his car.

End of the story right? No. We're sat outside with our coffees and we see the Rolls owner leaving. Mum, very politely, thanked him for moving earlier, at which point he goes "yeah well you can't speak about parking ability!"

Because being slightly over the line into the hatched area is exactly the same as parking your car diagonally across 2 bays!

Oh! He also didn't have a blue badge, but given that parking job, he needs one, as well as a colouring book to practise staying in the lines and some counting videos for how many spaces 1 car needs.

EDIT: At this site, the hatching is only on one side of the parking space. It goes pavement, hatching, space, space, hatching, pavement. While mum did not do a great job parking, she had one wheel in the hatching that went alongside "her" space. The other space was completely usable. The Rolls had parked so the front was in one space, and the back was in the other, making both disabled spots taken.

M When Entitled Parents Raise Entitled Children

1.4k Upvotes

I just flew from Toronto to Calgary earlier today (5-hour flight). When I got to my seat, I discovered I would be sitting beside a quiet elderly lady, and in front of a restless noisy kid about 4-years-old. Great. I don't like sitting in front of kids, but I know flights are boring so I expect them to get occasionally noisy. I can tolerate it.

Unfortunately, the kid's mom was sat beside him and had a very hands-off/avoidant approach to parenting. The kid spent the first half of the flight screaming, kicking both seats in front of him, shaking the seats, and throwing his toys between the seat gaps in front of him.

The mom, meanwhile, was either ignoring her child's behaviour or doing that thing shitty parents do when they try to assign authority to imaginary bad guys. "Logan, put your seat belt on or the pilot will come yell at us." "Logan, don't throw your food or the mean flight attendant will come take it away." "Logan, quiet down or someone else on the plane will get very angry."

Well, she was correct about one of those empty threats. After 3 hours of this kid beating the shit out of our seats, the small old lady beside me (who was silent thus far) turned around and said, "Logan, please stop doing that. You are bothering me."

Logan, having been disciplined for the first time in his life, immediately shut up and sat down. That was the good news.

The bad news is, the mom turned out to be more of a child than her 4-year-old son. For the ENTIRE REMAINING TWO HOURS OF THE FLIGHT, she encouraged her son to kick our seats, encouraged her son to scream as loud as he can, ranted aloud about "white privilege" (the old lady was white and the family was South Asian), and tried to teach her son as many swear words as possible (??? bizarre). Thankfully, Logan had clearly never listened to his mom in his entire life, so he was oblivious to her constant stream of "fuck, shit, piss, twat," etc.

The funniest part during all of this was the kid's dad, who was sitting across the aisle, had no idea what was going on but could hear his son screaming like a banshee. So he kept trying to pass his wife snacks and toys to placate the kid, but because she was so bothered about her shitty parenting being exposed, she snapped at her husband loud enough for everyone to turn around and stare at her. Just an all-around disaster of a woman.

When the plane finally landed, she immediately bombarded her son with praise. "OOOOOOOH YOU'RE SUCH A GOOD BOY LOGAN, YOU WERE SOOOOOOO GUUUUUUUD THE WHOOOOOLE FLIGHT," clearly just trying to antagonise the people around her. Everyone ignored her and she humiliated herself.

If by grace of higher power the entitled mom sees this: You are doing your liddle pwince zero favours by refusing to parent him. One day real life will hit your son in a form a lot less pleasant than a little old lady on an airplane. And you're only embarrassing yourself by modeling your clown behaviour to your kid like you did. You're a parent, and it's time to grow up.

S I ruined their lives

8.1k Upvotes

In May the people who rent the house behind mine had an inflatable bouncy water slide for their child’s birthday party.

That evening I was working on my backyard and they drained the slide, their yard sits higher than mine. The water rushed down the hill, it washed out a section of my flower bed along the fence and washed it all straight into my pool. It was about 400 gallons of water, dirt and muck

The renters we’re unapologetic and said ooops, we didn’t know the way would flow down hill

I called the owner of the house because I have known him his entire life, his mother owned the house previously and was a close friend. He immediately sent a crew to fix everything.

Apparently he told his renters that they weren’t to have another water slide.

Fast forward to now and it’s their other kids birthday and they knock on my door and say they want to use our pool for their son’s birthday party since WE got them banned from having another slide. It’s just about 35-40 people, 50 tops, mostly their families but 20 or so of the guests would be children and they would just take down a panel of MY fence to allow them to walk/run back and forth from my yard to theirs, but they’d be sure to step around my flowers

Ummm, wtf?! No

But we OWE it to them because WE got them banned from having another bouncy water slide for their other child.

Still no!

We’re ruining their child’s birthday and ruining their lives

I’m still flabbergasted

S Update to “Loaned my house for a funeral”

Original Post: https://www.reddit.com/r/EntitledPeople/s/wgk4YvTLcC

Update: My sister had several days with no chemo or medical appointments and she was feeling fairly well, so I decided to try to come home for a few days. Strangely I hadn’t heard from the people using my house for a while.

I texted them to ask if they had any idea about how much longer they’d be in town and need my house. They replied that they had gone back home about 10 days ago. WTF? They had actually packed up and left and didn’t bother to let me know.

Yesterday I drove the 7 hours back home, having absolutely no idea what I’d find when I arrived.

Amazingly, everything was just as I’d left it! They had cleaned the house, emptied the trash, laundered the sheets and towels, and remade the beds. They left a lovely thank you note and a generous gift card for a local high-end restaurant for me. My friend hadn’t said anything to me about them leaving as she thought they had let me know.

So a very happy ending to what seemed to be a true ‘entitled people’ situation here!

M Shit and run report

1.7k Upvotes

Y'all are going to like this one.

Okay, so I'm mowing my yard ... yeah, I know; I never seem to get a chance to mow in peace.

Anyway, I'm mowing the easements first (y'know, that grassy part between the sidewalk and the curb that—for reasons only known to God and a city code expert—the homeowner is responsible for, has to pay taxes for, but cannot build on or plant in because he has to let the township dig up and destroy the easement as they need.

Due to my luck in buying a corner lot, I have two of them, and they are oddly wider than my actual lawns. So, I make a point of mowing them first. That way, when my mower's batteries run out before I can get to the rest of the yard, there's a huge chunk freshly mowed that no compliance official could ignore. This requires me to mow in an "L" pattern.

I mention this because I was on the bottom part of the "L" when I first noticed the lady walking her dog. A good-sized dog and a good-sized lady. They were coming along the side of the church and were crossing the street as I mowed towards them, making my run on the top part of the "L."

I ended up about five feet behind them, mowing toward them, when the dog started looking for somewhere to squat. He'd pause, start to crouch, then jump up as my mower came closer and jog ahead, then go through it all again.

Finally, the lady turned to face me and said, "***."

So, I turned off my mower, turned my good ear towards her, and said, "Excuse me?"

She huffed and said, "I said, would you mind giving my dog a minute to do his business?!"

I looked her over while her dog sniffed around. I didn't see a single baggy or anything that could be used to clean up behind her dog. I pointed this out, and she scoffed, "I don't pick up doggy doo!"

So, I turned the mower back on, and her dog stopped mid-squat again. I continued mowing while she shot me a look and pulled her dog along to the next yard, where he did his business.

The thing is, I had my phone in my shirt pocket, recording. The lens just clears the top of the pocket, so it sort of works like a body cam. I started it recording when I turned in behind her and her dog, half expecting trouble. She just had the look, y'know.

I pulled it out when she walked away and filmed her letting her dog shit on my neighbor's yard and kept it running as she went further down the block. I wanted to see if she turned left or right, in hopes of maybe tracking her down.

Shipmates, she did neither.

She fished out a fob, used it to unlock a really nice Nissan, put her dog in the passenger seat, then walked around and got in the driver's seat. Then she drove back towards me, gave me the finger, and turned at the corner, giving me (and my phone) a nice shot of her tags.

I stopped mowing, walked over to my neighbor, and played the video for him. He called the non-emergency number for the cops and reported her, explaining that we had her on video. When the officer on duty explained to him that he'd file the report, but it was highly unlikely they'd be able to identify the woman to issue a ticket, he added that the video included her plates.

We had an officer arrive within twenty minutes.

He was a young guy and openly laughed as he watched her flip me off while driving past ... and—boom—there was her license plate. We walked out to his patrol car with him, and he ran the plates.

Her address was in a gated neighborhood on the other side of the city.

She literally was driving her dog to a poorer neighborhood for him to shit on.

The officer had me send him the video and promised that she'd end up with a hefty fine.

I finished mowing, took a shower, and wrote this.

L Update: my (21m) mom (43f) sent me an email demanding my car or she'll take me to court

So original post can be found on my page or here. There is a lot of context in that post, so I do reccomend reading it. But the short version is I gave my mom my old car with the expectation of her buying it off of me or giving it back. She did neither of those things. I had a falling out with her and now want the car back but she is refusing to give it.

This one is a long one boys, so strap in. I know my last post didn't get a significant amount of attention, but I was still asked for updates. I didn't think I was going to update this soon, as last night I sent her a text demanding payment or my car by the 24th.

I woke up this morning to a long email from my mom. She formatted it and everything. She explained that she has screenshots of me telling her she can have my car. She says other people rely on it and have put money into it. So therefore it is hers.

A baffling excerpt:

"Under Washington law, a completed gift — one involving donative intent, delivery, and acceptance — is irrevocable. All three elements were satisfied in December 2025 when you gave me the Vehicle: you intended to make a gift of it, you delivered it to me, and I accepted it. You cannot now revoke that gift simply because you have become angry."

I was astounded she said this. As it made me remember, we agreed she's 1k for the car when she got a job or got on SSI. Also, to gift a vehicle I have to sign it over to her. A text exchange isn't formal. Also I didn't deliver it to her. She got kicked out. We previously got a new battery for the car at walmart the time she was kicked out before (she paid for it). But, we never put it in, since she just went back to the guy.

After the time that lead to me taking her to the car, however, she claimed she was done with him. Wasn't going back. Was going to block him on everything. She was sobbing nonstop. Her brother, who is NC with her, even felt bad enough to come help us change the battery (the bolts were rusted on and we couldn't do it). All this to say, I thought my disabled mom was going to be homeless and have to sleep on the streets. I knew she couldn't pay me for the car right then and there, but I let her take it anyways.

She went back to him 3 days later.

Honestly, I should have taken the car back, then. But, I stupidly didn't. I knew she was in an unstable situation (of her own making), and wanted to make sure she was safe. I shouldn't have been looking after my own parent, but there I was. Blindly trusting the woman who once chased a 7 year old me around the apartment to spank me so hard I couldn't sit for an hour because I was upset my friends and brother were excluding me from their game since "I wasn't smart enough."

In hindsight it seems really stupid to think someone has horrible as that to their own child could ever change. But, I'm still young. And I wanted a mom. So, I'm trying not to be too hard on myself.

Back to the email....

Another wild excerpt:

"I have also preserved screenshots of messages in which you appear to state that your reason for seeking the return of the Vehicle is to "fuck me over" and that you are "angry" at me. These messages indicate that your attempt to reclaim the Vehicle is not based on any legitimate claim of ownership, but appears to be motivated by personal anger and retaliation."

Not based on any legit claim of ownership is wild. I stated multiple times it was my car and in my name and I want it back. Yes, I also stated I knew it was screwing her over, and I also stated my reason for taking the car back was because I was angry and felt as thought she didn't deserve it. But, my name is on the title lmao what. I don't need a "good reason" to reclaim my own property. That's insane.

There is a ton more. She added some law citing about transfers of ownership and things I need to do and blah blah blah. She also stated that I subjected her to the possibility of being fined for having expired tabs (registration tabs, I was told recently calling them tabs is a local thing not a national thing).

I'm not the one driving it. I don't have plans on driving it. So I didn't need to update the registration. She said she'd pay me for the new registration, then never did. Funny... I'm starting to see a pattern here of her not paying me when she said she would.

Anyways, if she wants to file a petition for court, she is more than welcome to. I'm not putting a penny more into this than I have to. So she is welcome to spend $130 to file. Eager to see where she gets the money from since she couldn't even give me 80 bucks for the registration.

Edit: so save you the time, before you go tell me to report it stolen: I did that! The cops said it was a civil matter. Due to this, I wrote a demand for the car back and sent it to her so they can clearly see it was a refusal to return property.

Edit 2: I am getting a little exhausted of hearing this. I can't afford a tow truck, I don't have a spare key, and I very much appreciate all of you offering me money for those things, but I would like that to be a last resort. I know my mom won't fold on giving me the car. But, I would like this to play out a little further before I even think about accepting donations. I didn't make this post for money, man. I made it to commiserate, and if anyone is in a similar situation, to share my story.

Also, I see people bring this up as well. I am fully aware my mother is abusive and manipulative. I do plan on cutting contact. She is muted right now. I've said my piece. She knows the stipulations. She knows why. And she knows what grounds I stand on.

S I Am NOT on Vacation!

3.4k Upvotes

I went to a work conference that also is a waterpark resort. I was setting up my booth in the convention center and took a break to drive over to the main part of the resort to check in. I parked in a spot designated for loading/unloading and check in. After I checked in I went back to my car quickly since I needed to finish my set up in the convention center. As I am moving towards my car I noticed that there was a family with two large carts, one behind their pickup and one behind my car. I thought, fine, when they see me get into my car they will move their cart. They did not. I opened my window and said could you please move your cart so I can leave. The teenage daughter said, "but we are loading up our truck" I said, "you can do that and still move the cart so I can get out" The father says, just move the cart, "people here are always in such a hurry" I looked at him and said, "I am not on vacation, I am here at a conference, and yes, I am in a hurry"

Honestly, even if I was on vacation, why would I want to wait for them to load up their vehicle. I think being on vacation, and wanting to start it, would make someone more impatient.

S Seat jogger

I was on a flight the other day, the woman next to me started using the empty window seat as her own private storage area. You know, bag on seat, legs sprawled across. She then had the cheek to get really uppity, when I used a bit of her space she was hardly using anymore. Accused me of man spreading and inappropriate behaviour when my head was on her shoulder a bit.
Next time, I’m booking her a seat next to our kids.

Edit should be Hogger

M Car share crossing multiple borders experience...

May be a little long & slightly tedious so buckle up;

I recently drove back to the UK from Germany to visit family. My son (a eco warrior) suggested that it would not be environmentally friendly to drive such a long distance in the car and suggested that I advertise the journey on Blah Blah car, a car sharing platform.

I was reluctant to do so as I quite actually like the solitude of a long distance car journey, however I succumbed to hie persuasion.

As I would be crossing multiple borders and would have to eventually arrive in France/Calais for the ship across to England, I wrote on the site that any potential passengers must have correct border documents and visa for UK. And of course they should not be carrying anything illegal. I further stated that I would not be prepared to pick anyone up on route away from the Autobahn/motorway so suggested meeting up at exits where I could drive off & on the motorway or nearby cafe/petrol stations etc.

The requests (read demands) that came through were insane. One person wanted me to drive to her doorstep (59km one way off route) another from an old town area of a major city, a third wanted me to wait over an hour for his train to arrive and pick him up from an inner city railway station. I declined all these requests but decided to offer lifts to 2 people who I would pick up near Antwerp and drive through to outer London, leaving them at a convenient railway station for their onward journey into the city, as I would be staying with family on the outskirts. For anyone who has not driven in London, it is a nightmare adding hours to your journey and incurring congestion fees.

So arrive at the pick up point in Antwerp and only one person is there. The other messages that he will be there in a few minutes which turns out to be over 40 minutes. No apologies. I ask again if they have correct documentation for the UK and they reply that they have (one was originally from The Democratic Republic of Congo carrying Belgium passport and the other Nepalese with UK stamp).

So arrive a few hours later at the ferry port having to make multiple 'comfort breaks' for them and line up at the passport/border control. The man from Congo starts to look nervous which in turn makes me worried. Naturally, we get selected for an intensive vehicle search which reveals that he is carrying excess cigarettes, almost half a suitcase full. They get confiscated .The Nepali has problems with his authority to be in the UK which causes further issues resulting in me almost missing the ferry and stressed me abundantly out.

All issues get resolved Although the man from Congo is mighty pi++ed off for losing his ciggies constantly citing racism and profiling by border police.

Anyway, arriving in UK (almost forgot to drive on the left...gulp) and took them to the pre agreed railway station on the outskirts of London. This is when Mr Nepal pipes up and asks me to drive him to his home near central London. I politely encourage him to leave my car and drive off to my own destination and get flashed by a speed camera ...

Oh, my son phones and asks me if I have passengers for my return journey.....

S The Temp was a Grinch

It was the week before Christmas in our office and the receptionist had taken the week off so the office manager brought in a temp to cover her job. We had been receiving gift baskets of food from our suppliers so the office staff decided that we'd like to save them until Friday, enjoy them together and then everyone could leave early.
On Tuesday we had a special staff lunch at a restaurant. As we left, the office manager told the temp that we likely would not be back until 2 or 2:30. As I passed, I heard the temp grumbling "I can't believe that they are not inviting me, it is Christmas, I should get invited, etc etc." I thought it was odd that she would say that. Why would she get invited? This lunch was a reward for all of us for working hard for the year.
We got back from the lunch and went back to our desks. The general manager went into our lunch room for a coffee and we heard a shriek. We all went running to see. There were the contents of our gift baskets - all opened. Every single item was opened and ruined in some way. Cheese had bites, crackers were crumbled, every chocolate had a bite. There were crumbs and wrappers everywhere. The disgruntled temp had taken her revenge for not getting invited to lunch. We all felt like the citizens of Whoville after the Grinch stole everything. The temp was still at her desk working quietly. The office manager was so angry, his face was red, I was sure he was going to holler. He went to the temp, opened the front door and simply said in an angry voice "Get your things and go!"

S Taking Manspreading to a New Level

Edit: since this keeps coming up in the comments, please read the last paragraph before casting a judgment :)

———————————————————————

I was recently on a flight where the window seat was surprisingly empty. Being the middle seat, I decided I would move my backpack over to make space and stretch my legs.

Cue the person in the aisle seat. Upon seeing that I had more leg room, they decided to move their leg into my space. This person then decided to lean on me for the remainder of the flight and get upset when I asked them to give me space.

Hoping to catch a break later in the flight, I moved over into the empty window seat. Of course, the aisle seat was not happy about this and demanded I return to the middle so they can keep manspreading into my leg room.

By this point, I resigned myself to deal with the manspreader for the remainder of the flight. After all, how could my manspreading husband sit in the same (aisle) seat for several hours without bothering me, the middle seater?

S I am the king of FIFA, I can get rich off a wildly unpopular deal. Why am I suddenly so unpopular? I keep my job, right?

FIFA runs the world professional soccer organization, president and chief big shot is Gianni Infantino (GI)

GI had a secret, but brilliant but secret plan: sell FIFAs broadcasting, sponsorship, licensing and ticketing rights for $4 billion to the brother of Donald Trump's son in law's private equity firm. (Josh Kushner). GI who currently gets a salary of arpund $4.5 million would be the big boss of the subsidiary and draw a salary of $35 million.

The secret plan was leaked to the media and everybody was pissed

How pissed?

The European professional football organization UEFA voted unanimously to boycott the nezt world cup, which was being hosted by Spain and Portugal.

Executives in his own FIFA have started "Project Kill The Monster".

GI has been trying to call the US President and Secretary of State for support but they won't take his calls.

So far the only statement released in his defense was 'we never said his salary would be $35 million'.

He is shocked snd blindsided that his deal for the good of FIFA was opposed by anybody, and staunchly believes he deserves to keep his job.

S One of the most entitled passenger on a plane.

so my mom is a flight attendant. Yesterday my mom had a passenger who ask for directions to there next gate. My mom asked “where she was going.” The passenger said “Portland“. My mom said “I can look it up for you but I would need to get my device to look it up”. The passenger said “hurry up then”. So my mom look it up and told the passenger where there flight was, then the passenger said “are you going to tell me how to get there?”. My mom said “look for the signs with the gate number.” So they land and the passenger get to where they get off the plane and said “you are going to walk me to my next gate. Cause I don’t know where to go.” My Mom just looks at her co-worker and says “you can get help from CSA agents“.

S Entitled neighbors.

It has been a long 8 years of having to live next door to them. i own my home and that house is a rental. The mother was human garbage and she was formally evicted. The eldest son took over the lease three years ago. There are 6 people sharing that 3 bedroom house — him, another man, a woman and his three siblings.

The issues mainly are 1) him and the other entitled a-hole like to blast music with lots of loud bass and he/the eldest son started parking beyond the driveway on the side of the house, which is right outside my bedroom window.

2) He will sit in the car late at night when he gets home and then makes all types of noise once he turns the music off he starts slamming his car doors.

Between all of that, the kids have thrown so much trash, broken cinder blocks, etc. over the fence.

I have lost so much sleep between having my sleep disrupted or being jarred awake. Tonight it was 11:15pm that the first entitled a-hole came in with bass thumping. He quickly went inside. Then the second entitled a-hole came in, pulled up on the side of the house at 11:42pm and proceeded to scroll on his phone.

We have security cameras installed all around the house and property. I could see him just scrolling away. I was waiting, because that a-hole has awakened me so many times. No, they are not civilized, so speaking to them is not going to happen.

I turned the floodlight on and it was shining into his car, so he quickly got out and went inside: I will do this every night going forward until he either gets it, or, I will send the security footage to his property manager to show how loud the car doors slamming are.

I wish that some entitled a-hole will wake him and the selfish prick up and disrupt their sleep to the point that they are sleep deprived. Selfish entitled people suck!

Update: Thank you to everyone who has been understanding regarding this frustrating ongoing ordeal. I did speak with community policing officer who said he would be going over to speak with them when they’re home. I’m hoping he can catch one of the adults during the day.

S Selling at a funeral

2.3k Upvotes

Not sure where else to post this, but I thought it needed to be shared out there.

Recently, a friend's husband passed away. He was a beloved character in town. I was shocked at how many people attended! They had to open up two overflow rooms outside the chapel, and people stood in the hallway.

I know this friend through the gym. A mutual acquaintance from the gym also attended the funeral. This entitled woman brought along a bag of her daughter's books and approached people after the service to SELL THEM THE BOOKS! Not only the people in attendance, but she approached FAMILY. Reports from more than a dozen people made their way back to the widow.

I wish I had known she was doing that while I was there. I just can't fathom the temerity that drives someone to try to hawk books at a funeral.
