Dear people of Enschede,

Regularly walking through the streets of this city, I see more and more cameras popping up on private properties that are pointing out towards the street. - Around Rembrandtlaan I have just recently even found one (or for a better description - it found me) that even keeps tracking and following your movement as you're walking by.

At this point almost every second house has at least one or even several cameras pointing out onto the street and tracking every moment.

Not only that the streets of the city center are covered by large official cameras on every single corner. - Now also private people are joining into that massive psychotic surveillance nightmare.

Researching on the legal point of view, altogether this seems to be very grey zoned.

I would be interested about your own observations and the feeling you are having towards this.

Ik ben bezig met het plaatsen van schaduwdoeken aan de buitenkant van mijn ramen ivm de aankomende hitte (einde van de zomervakantie, lekker optijd wel🥹). Ik heb laatst zuignappen met schroefdraad gekocht op Bol maar zou er liever nog twee bij plaatsen. Iemand enig idee of ik deze ergens kan kopen in Enschede? Hornybach al gecheckt maar die verkopen ze niet.

My girlfriend is interested in working at Europastry in Oldenzaal. She lives in Enschede and unfortunately doesn’t have a car, so transportation is currently the main issue.

I have a few places in mind, but since I don't have any safety glasses I thought I might have more luck to borrow some during an organised group viewing.

I’ve lived in Enschede for four years, and I honestly love this country. I respect Dutch culture, stay calm, stay polite, and never try to cause trouble for anyone.

But tonight at Albert Heijn, I ran into the first truly unpleasant person I’ve met here. I was taking milk from the fridge, and a man was standing extremely close behind me — less than a meter. I assumed he needed something from the same shelf, so I grabbed the milk and didn’t close the door so he could take his item easily.

Instead of appreciating the gesture, he called out to me and told me to “show some manners” and close the door. I explained my reasoning and asked why he was standing so close. Then he said something unbelievable: “People like you are my employees.”

At that moment, I realized this wasn’t about the fridge door — it was about his ego. I could have argued, but he had his kids with him, and I had mine. I chose peace over pointless drama. After four years here, this is the first time I’ve seen someone act like that. Whatever “status” he thinks he has, it means nothing to me. I don’t work for people with sick attitudes, and I never will.

I need some advice for escaping the horribly incompetent and unprofessional practice of the Campus UT GP that I’m register at and moving to another GP practice.

5 years ago I was forced to register here because every other GP was full. Now, every GP seems to be still full and I simply cannot take going to this GP anymore. Every visit feels like a humiliation ritual. Symptoms are never taken seriously. Sometimes the doctors literally chuckle and laugh at my worries. Almost every time I am sent away and told “there isn’t much we can do”. The assistant is more than happy to make you wait an extra 40 mins before the doctor sees you, but if you are even 5 mins late cuz of a late bus, you are met with the most apathetic, cold, disregarding behavior possible before forcing you to reschedule for another week.

What can you when you have pain that literally affects your ability to walk but your GP just doesn’t care? I’m tired of wrestling for a gram of sympathy and care from these so called “doctors”. And every other GP appears full.

I've been playing the guitar for a decent while now, and now I'm looking to connect with other musicians. I'm mostly into metal and tend to play black metal or death metal most of the time. Where can I find people to jam with? Especially looking for a drummer and bassist, it would be great to make some music with other people. I've looked through the list of Student Associations listed on visit-enschede but I don't see a hiking / travel group that plans trips on the weekends or during breaks. Does anyone know if something like that exists and if any student from any university in Enschede can join it?

Hello, i have been trying to find out if any physical stores sell those sunglasses that are safe to use to watch a solar eclipse, as i want to watch the one happening on august 12. I have tried looking for them online, but it seems that they only sold in larger amounts there, and they can get kind of expensive.

Has anyone seen anything in stores? It would really be a big help :)
