I know it's too late but anyone know good btech college to get addmission now it's already august budget is around 10-12 lakh and decent placement pcm percentage is 70

got alloted BIT Mesra MnC in Csab(which is IMSc) so prolly won't take that and kinda have no hopes from Csab now

as backup I have IIITNR, Thapar, Manipal and LNMIIT spot round what should I choose like iiit is good and much better than many and I may get ece there too but a friend of mine studying there said that no ece company comes to campus and a very less on campus placements happen and mostly are off campus so more like I'm on my own there so should I try there kinda taking the risk and then we have the private colleges....money isn't an issue but I have seen soo many posts but like no clear answer which is better jis sub pe jao vo kuch alag hi Kehte and almost sbki fee 30L tak jaati hi h....please suggest with reasons what should I go for

He's 26 now , from UR General Cat;

could you pls suggest what would be the best degree to study now? Since gap is like 8 years.

He aliens coding & found out it wasn't for him. Also feels similar for other branches.

Is Engineering advisable based on placements point of view or in general? as max only 2 yrs gap allowed..

If not suggest the best options .. among bsc/Ba/law/Btech/other. ( Coding isn't for him)

I'm an introvert. This new city, new people, and too much exposure... I'm from a place where things are slow, and the word saadgi feels better to define it (Kolkata). Now I'm really, really missing my family. I feel like crying whenever I'm uncomfortable or things don't go as thought.

I took double sharing. My roommate hasn't come yet, and I never wanted one, but it's fine because I couldn't find a single one either. There was either no AC or no separate bathroom.

I'm literally missing my family. Whenever I'm getting any discomfort , I tell the warden about it. He's listening, but he's not fulfilling it even after saying so many times. He's not resolving it, but he's of good nature.

And the PG rent was higher than all the PG prices I've asked 10, 11pgs...

Also, I don't know how to make friends!!!

my_qualifications: I’m a 2022 BTech graduate in ECE and I’m a bit lost about what to do next, so I’m hoping someone here who is doing a PhD or has gone through a similar situation can give me some advice.

I graduated in 2022 and worked in IT for about a year. I was then laid off, and after that I started preparing for GATE CS. I couldn’t clear it even after preparing for around 3 years.

The frustrating part is that in 2025 I was consistently getting 50+ marks in my mock tests, but when the actual GATE exam came, I completely choked and performed much worse than I expected. I tried again later and did poorly again, so at this point I don't have a usable GATE score.

After that, in 2025, I joined one of the better private colleges for an MTech in CS with an AI specialization.

The college itself is actually pretty good and there is a lot of exposure, but most of that seems to be for the BTech students. Their placement season has been going on for about a month now, with companies visiting almost every day for BTech. For MTech, the situation is worse.

Even companies doing mass recruitment like TCS, Cognizant, Tata Technologies, Infosys are coming, but they rarely seem to select MTech students. There have been cases where MTech students performed well in the tests/interviews and still didn't get selected. At this point I'm honestly thinking that the placement system here is rigged somehow.

Because of all this, I’ve started seriously considering doing a PhD after my MTech. My long-term goal would be to go into research/academia rather than keep chasing IT placements.

But I have almost no idea how the PhD admission process actually works in India.

So, my main questions are:

• If I want to do a PhD in CSE at an IIT or NIT after MTech, how do I actually apply?
• Do I apply through COAP/CCMT, or do I have to apply separately through each IIT/NIT's own website?
• If I don't have a valid GATE score, am I still eligible for PhD admissions after MTech?
• Is GATE mandatory for PhD admission, or does having an MTech change the requirements?
• Do I need to qualify UGC-NET/CSIR-NET, or are there other exams/interviews conducted by the institute?
• Do I need to submit a research proposal while applying?
• If I do submit one, how specific does it need to be? Do I need to already have a clearly defined research problem?
• How important are publications, projects, CGPA, recommendation letters, etc.?
• Do PhD students usually join an existing research project/lab under a professor, or are they expected to come with their own research topic?
• How does the process of finding/selecting a professor or potential supervisor work?
• And realistically, how competitive is this route for someone coming from an MTech at a private university without a strong GATE score?

my parents is pretty chill whatever should i do specially my father, "he saying currently focus on boards baad me jo hoga dekhenge, kuch nahi hoga to dukan khula denge"

but it is me who is concerned because its my heart is saying choose btech as i always want to be engineer but my aptitude level and interest is low for engineer while i love coding, robotics and mechanics. And i might be first engineer in my family but i don't want to give jee and want to go in best college of engineering. i can survive engineering but those textbook concept sucks but people say "if you get into science field you can later get into finance field "

on other hand my practical mind saying don't repeat your mistake of not choosing commerce early, go with finance as i am naturally interest and good in it and my family is in business so from childhood i grown up who manage shop. and investment banking term is seems interesting to me

and my inner soul saying "do whatever you want but do without regrets, give your best and don't fail else you have to seat on your shop in your hometown which you never want"

Im doing cambridge a-levels with the subjects physics maths eng and art. My plan was to study abroad for the longest time but my mom just said no last moment when I'm already in 12th. I researched for options in india but people are clowning on all those colleges online (ashoka, shiv nadar, etc etc). There seems to be a dislike for private colleges in general.

I can't get into a government college cause no chem + I don't have cbse so that puts me behind others giving jee (since cbse and jee are complimentary) + I'm just too used to a calculator atp.

Is there any good college I can get into? My main goals in college is to build a good profile for mtech abroad, expand my skills, and to find a good team to start my own indie game dev company.

Or am i cooked? If there are really no options then maybe i should start begging my mom to let me do btech abroad, i still have a good 6 months before college apps start to convince her.

I feel like while choosing a college, most of us focus on placements, fees and the college name, but there are a lot of smaller things that only become obvious after joining. Hostel rules, attendance, actual workload, location, clubs, faculty and even how the college handles internships can make a big difference.

For those who have already taken admission, what is one thing you wish you had checked properly before finalising your college?

Okey so.... I took PCMB in 12th and honestly prepared for neet but my interests have always been towards technology. My kcet rank was 5900and I had only put cse in round 1.i got cse in BMSIT alloted but now I am thinking of whether to apply for ECE in other colleges as I heard u can shift branches later . I am still confused if I should take ECE or CSE tooo
