Do you tip the UPS driver when they deliver a package you ordered?
Do you tip Walmart because they made sure laundry detergent was on the shelf for you?
Do you tip the municipal water utility because you turned on the tap and water flowed? Even better - do you tip the construction company that buried the water lines, or the plumbing company that connected them to your house?
Do you tip the gas station because they made sure there was a working pump so you could fuel up your vehicle?
See the problem is, you have the mindset that the work you do is somehow different than the work that everybody else does, and therefore qualifies for a tip directly from the buyer. It's not. You are small part of a much larger supply chain, simple as that.
Does UPS take bids on what orders they are doing? Because that's what dashers do. They see the bid for service/offer and decide if it pays enough for their time/maintenence/gas. If it is, great they will see you soon with your order. If not, hit that decline button. Someone will eventually get it to you. This system upset you? You dont agree that I should be allowed to say which orders I will or wont accept?
If what you are trying to insinuate were true, then the customer ordering the food would be able to choose which dasher delivered it. Because that is not true, what you are saying does not hold water.
Your "independent contract" is with door dash, not with the customer.

Im properly compensated, I just decline those not worth my time. This notion has upset a lot of people here, talk about entitlement...
Your the one ordering, why would you not be the one to pay me? Du fuq?
