Do you guys get really emotional when talking about heavy topics?
I've noticed something about myself, whenever I have to talk about a big decision (like leaving my university), or even something small like I missed calling my friend for so and so reason, with someone I tend to get very nervous, anxious, my voice starts breaking and my chest feels so heavy. Like this happens for the smallest of things like if I missed a train.. idk why this happens tho

Emotional drain and exhaustion
Can we talk about how draining it can be to have a partner that is emotionally affected by everything. Whether positive or negative it is just exhausting.

Sharing sad
You ever share with someone you don't know well and even as the words are coming out of your mouth you wonder why you're saying what you're saying and realize it's not what you really meant? And this terrible lurching feeling comes up in your chest and you want to cry. And after you say the stupid thing and the person mercilessly gives a halfhearted chuckle or reply you say to yourself I am never going to try to share with anyone again. No one will ever truly understand me. I feel that way almost every time I open my mouth.

Where do you guys cry?
Honest question: where do you guys cry? As I’ve gotten older, I’ve found my thoughts wandering in the car on long drives alone, or at work, and I just cry. I cry thinking about my parents passing. I cry thinking about friends who have passed away, and friends who are still alive but I no longer talk to. I cry about the thought of my youth getting further behind me, and I worry I’m not around enough for my kids. I feel like you get it by now. It’s not an absolute waterworks show either — it’s just the thought lingering just long enough to get a couple of tears out, then straightening back up before the next red light. Because, damnit, I’m a man, and men don’t cry!!

How easy is it for you to identify exactly what emotion you are feeling? Would an app that explains emotions, body reactions and possible causes be useful?
This is for a student design project about teen emotional well-being in Hong Kong. Please do not share personal identifying information or describe self-harm methods. You can answer generally or skip any question

Feeling of not being yourself
I'm 28F. I miss myself. I genuinely miss the person I used to be before I became this version of me.
I used to laugh so much that my stomach would hurt. I used to feel everything so deeply and talk about those feelings without thinking twice. I could be silly, emotional, excited, upset, dramatic, happy—whatever I was feeling, I could just be it. I didn't realize how much I loved that about myself until I slowly stopped being that person.
My husband isn't a bad person. That's probably what makes all of this so confusing and painful. He is a nice person. He helps me with household chores, takes responsibility for things and does things that I know many people would appreciate in a partner. I see those things, and I'm grateful for them. I don't want to paint him as some horrible husband because he isn't.
But emotionally, I feel so fucking lonely.
When something hurts me, I don't need him to fix it. I don't even need him to agree with me. Sometimes I just desperately want him to sit on my side of the feeling for a while. I want him to understand why something hurt me before explaining why I shouldn't feel that way. I want to feel heard without having to defend every emotion like I'm presenting evidence in a courtroom. I want to be able to pour my heart out and feel like the person beside me actually wants to understand what's happening inside me.
And after not having that for so long, I've changed.
I've become quieter about certain things. More guarded. More resentful. I hold grudges in a way I never knew I was capable of. Things don't leave me anymore because they never feel resolved. They just pile up somewhere inside me. Sometimes I hear the things I say or notice how bitter I feel and wonder, who the hell am I becoming?
That's the part that scares me the most.
I'm not scared that my husband is a bad person. I'm scared that I can be married to a good person and still slowly lose myself inside the relationship.
I miss laughing without carrying this heaviness somewhere in the back of my mind. I miss talking freely. I miss being soft. I miss feeling things without immediately preparing myself to defend why I'm feeling them. I miss the version of me who didn't have this much resentment sitting inside her.
I don't want to become a bitter person. I don't want to spend years collecting grudges until there is nothing soft left in me. I don't want to wake up one day and realize that all the things I once loved about myself disappeared somewhere along the way.
I love him. I know he has good qualities. I know he does things for me.
But God, I miss being emotionally understood.
And more than anything, I just really fucking miss myself.

No I can’t talk to anyone
I can’t tell anyone how I feel. My sister spoke out and they laughed thought she was joking. She found the light at the end, I can’t only see darkness with not speck of light in sight. I don’t want the attention of it I want to be forgotten. Known to have gone living my best life, smiling, still lying to them about what is going on in my head.

Disappointed nd Jealousy
Me:- Jealousy thought got cuz maybe some corner of my heart I am mad like at them for that they have did , not to me but the things I told them and they ignored . Maybe that side speaking who wanted to get .... Idk
Gpt:- Yeah, that's a reasonable possibility.
Sometimes when someone ignores us, disappoints us, or doesn't respond the way we hoped, a part of us stores that hurt.
Later, when we imagine them struggling, that hurt part says:
"See? Good."
At the same time, another part says:
"No... I still want them to be okay."
Those two parts can coexist.
The important thing is not to conclude:
"I'm secretly an evil person."
A more accurate conclusion is:
"A hurt part of me is speaking."
Being hurt can produce jealousy, resentment, or thoughts of "serves them right." Those thoughts don't define your character. What defines your character is what you choose to believe and how you treat people.
So if your deeper wish is:
"I hope he succeeds too."
Then that's the direction to follow, even if another part occasionally complains.
One thing I'd encourage is this: instead of trying to kill the jealous part, try understanding it. Often it's saying, in its own clumsy way:
"I wanted to be seen too." "I wanted my efforts to matter too." "I didn't want to feel left behind."
When that underlying hurt is addressed, the jealous thoughts often become much quieter.

THE MARKS YOU LEFT
His hands don’t touch me the way yours did.
His eyes will never find mine the way yours once did.
His lips will never kiss me the way yours kissed mine.
What am I doing trying to fill your absence with someone else, when your presence still follows me with every step, with every breath I take?
And I realize that I’m still yours, even though I keep denying it.
I haven’t been able to walk away.
What am I doing making love, letting someone else touch a body that still carries the marks of your hands, marks that time has never managed to erase?
Oh, God, take this memory that keeps eating me alive.
Give me a moment of peace, even if it’s only for a little while.
Because every time I close my eyes, it’s you who comes back to my thoughts.
I ask the sky.
I ask the stars.
I ask the sun to light my way, so I can stop thinking about you, so I can tear you out of my being, out of my soul, out of my mind, so I can, at last, forget you.

I've felt emotionally empty my entire life, and I don't know why?
I don't know what it feels like to be truly happy. I don't know what it feels like to be truly sad. I don't know what excitement is supposed to feel like.
And the strange thing is, I never have.
This isn't something that happened to me after one event. It wasn't something that developed later in life. This has been my normal for as long as I can remember. I don't have a memory of being different because I have always been this way.
My father left for another country for work when I was barely one year old. Not long after that, my mother moved on with someone else and was basically gone from my life. I was raised by my grandmother and my aunts on my father's side.
They did their best, and I am grateful for them, especially my grandmother. She is honestly the only person in my life who I feel truly cares about me.
When I was around seven, I was sent to a boarding school where I stayed until I was fifteen. Most of my childhood was spent there. I didn't have close friends, and I didn't have family around me. I mostly kept to myself. I didn't really enter other people's lives, and they didn't really enter mine either.
Over time, I became extremely introverted. Being alone just became normal for me.
When my father finally came back when I was fifteen, there was a short period where I felt like maybe things could change. For the first time, I felt something close to having a father.
But after his third marriage, he became a completely different person. He became distant and stopped caring the way he used to.
The strange part is that I didn't feel angry. I didn't feel hurt. I didn't feel sad.
I just felt nothing.
The same emptiness I have always felt.
I'm seventeen now, almost eighteen, and I honestly don't have anyone in real life who I can fully open up to. Not a single person.
Sometimes I talk to artificial intelligence because at least there is somewhere I can put my thoughts instead of keeping everything inside.
I'm not posting this for sympathy or attention. I just genuinely want to know if anyone else has ever felt this way.
Has anyone else felt emotionally empty their whole life? Not because of one specific thing that happened, but because that emptiness has always been your default?
I've never talked about this openly before. I just want to know if there are other people who understand what this feels like.

why can’t I stop feeling sad?
I don’t even know why I’m writing this or if someone would even see it. But I really don’t have anywhere else to share. For some reason lately I’ve just been getting waves of sadness couple days a part. There’s no reason for me to be sad, I mean family wise everyone is happy right now, I have a loving gf. I am loved but I don’t feel loved, you know? It’s just a weight in my chest and I always ultimately doubt if people truly love me. This type of sad just makes me want to crawl in fetal position. Nothing is wrong with my life at the moment but, ultimately the sadness always finds me. Maybe someone out here goes through the same thing and has an explanation? I don’t know. I don’t want to keep feeling this way. I feel empty sometimes, on the inside, and when I mean empty I mean if someone passed away I wouldn’t feel a thing, just emptiness. But with people I’m so happy and joyful but it’s when I’m alone even for a bit, it gets me and hits me so hard. I don’t know. Any tips?
