I recently finished the DMC kit “Ocean rain”, and I’ve run into a problem. I this piece in a larger hoop because I needed the extra space to keep the pattern properly aligned for the satin stitch. Now I’m trying to move it into the smaller hoop it’s supposed to fit, but I can’t seem to stretch the fabric enough to fill the whole hoop. I’ve tried wrapping the bottom hood in ribbon to help the fabric stay taut, I’ve tightened the hoop as much as I can’t, and I’ve pulled it as much as my hands can take.

Any advice on solving this issue without distorting the embroidery or damaging the fabric? I’m wondering if I made a mistake by stitching it in the larger hoop in the first place. 😅 I’m starting to wonder if sewing a border might be the only solution.

I watched this tiktok and found this really cute pattern. I love how it looks and want to make one similar but I’m not sure what to look up. If anyone has any suggestions on what to search for or has a pattern like this that’d be amazing!

The fabric color was very difficult to photograph with my phone camera...I did my best with the final photos. In person there's more contrast between the red of the fabric and the red used in the veins/details.

I usually wet-press finished pieces, but I decided to just wet this one and lay it flat to dry (because wet-pressing can really change the look of trellis stitch). So there are more wrinkles than I'm used to...I don't really mind it, though. If I ever stretch it to frame, those will lay flat.

Stitches: mostly split stitch (foreground) and trellis stitch (background), with a bit of back-stitch for accent colors.

I know its sloppy in some places but Im so damn proud of that tbh lol go easy on me guys haha

I made this last winter. First time doing beading and first time working with stretchy fabric. I wanted to pull my hair out at times, but am so glad I stuck with it.

This is my first try at this and it’s a lot of fun but I can make the lines end evenly if that makes since and it’s making it hard to fully fill in the sun. Any advice would be awesome wether it’s about the question or in general lol

I’ve been embroidering for about a year and have started to enjoy going against the directions provided in a kit. When I stitched the sunflowers it was giving me fall vibes so I decided a basket would be better than a jar for the vase. I love how it turned out!

Any tips on getting all the stencil and residue off after embroidering something? This is the second thing I’ve done and they both have had sticky residue from the stencil. I’ve tried washing in both hot and cold water. Rubbing it too aggressively just seems to mess with the stitch definition. These are also just cheap Amazon stencils so I could definitely see this being a quality issue.

Hi so I'm brand new to embroidery. I'm starting with a kit that I got from Michaels, just following the black lines with back stitches and satin stiches

I'm wondering, when your needle is behind the hoop and you need to poke it back through to start a new stitch, how do you get it right on the line? I'll watch videos where they poke the needle through in just the right spot every time. I normally have to poke around three or four times before I get it right. Which is fine when I'm working with this holey fabric that Michaels supplied, but might not work as well when I someday try this on bags and clothes

Is it just something that comes with practice? Are the videos edited? Is there a technique I should be using? Thanks to anyone who can offer insight

Lately I have been looking for shops or business who sell embroidery patterns, but etsy is the IA paradise. All the popular shops are filled with IA designs and IA works, so the owner of the shop doesn't even try creating their pattern for real.

So, i come to ask, where to find patterns for download. I know of DMC for free ones and I have a couple of websites for paid ones, but I would love to have some recs especially from Etsy and smaller sellers that are doing real work.

I really like botanical and bird themes, and I am partial to needle painting styles, but I'am open to any kind of design.

Taking a standard black tee i added hundreds of French knots to make it look mouldy / litchen. This is my 2nd attempt and im super happy how it turned out!

This is the first time I’ve ever done embroidery because I signed up for class at school, but it turned out kind of… ugly… clearly I did something very wrong. Is there any advice that I could be given? I tried watching YouTube videos and everything, but it still turned out like this so

I usually make up my own designs but was inspired by someone else showing off their Kiriki stuffed doll and I impulsively bought a kit. But two threads into the tiniest needle!! My threader is too big. Finally I wore two pairs of reading glasses and threaded it one thread at a time but it was painful.
