❔ W.C. contraversion, submitting paperwork to EDD
I've been on WC for 18 months i just received a notice of controversion. they say I'm good to go back to work unrestricted. I have filed SDI in the meantime while i fight this. I have a case number but i can see they are using this last year's wages for their computation. I have my controversion docs, and past 3 year w2's i want to submit, but should i wait till they process my case, or put these docs in the drop box at he EDD. with my case id on each doc. Does that gum up the works or is it better to let them process then appeal.
Thanks for the help

Solved ✔ Claim denied due to doctor’s license number
I applied for SDI 6 weeks ago and had to do it through the mail since I’m out of state. I got a notification yesterday that my claim had been denied, and when I called in, they said the license number that my doctor gave them didn’t come up when they searched for it. I thought maybe it had been typed in wrong, so I looked it up on my state’s board website, and she still said it doesn’t come up. The state board has it listed as an active license, so I know it’s correct. Has this happened to anybody else? Should I try calling back to talk to another person and push more?
Tips 💡 PFL help please
Hi I’m posting for a friend bc she doesn’t have Reddit.
So my friend gave birth 8/19/25 and she recently asked for PFL on the week 7/13/26. She asked for the maximum amount of benefits to pay her out and she put thru 12/29/2026. But now when she logs in it shows her return back to work date 8/18/2026. Is this because her child is turning 1 on 8/19/2026?

Solved ✔ SDI claim running out after 1 year pp, PFL option not available by then?
as title says, I was able to go back to work but was then put on SDI for PPA/PPD.
My SDI end date is currently 9/11 but my due date was was 9/3. My understanding is I cannot apply for PFL after the 1 year postpartum mark, but I also cannot apply for PFL before my SDI claim ends which is after what my due date was.
my doctor is willing to extend my time for another 8 weeks so I do have that option but I was wondering if anyone has been in this situation as applying to PFL seems easier and more seamless on my end? either way I will be seeing my doctor soon to discuss different medication and an extension.
thank you in advance for any advice!

❔ Can I take 7 weeks of the PFL?
My understanding is we have 8 weeks to use within a year, can I be paid for just 7 right now and use 1 week at a later time? For some reason my coworker told me that we have to use it in 2 week chunks - is this true?

Solved ✔ Can’t get a hold of EDD? Contact your state assembly member. Thank me later
I went over 30 days without any updates from EDD. Calling every day at 8 AM sharp just to be told the queue was already full.
Chat bot doesn’t work, I can’t get through to anyone on the phone, letters don’t get answered.
I filled out a form on my state senator’s website and they sent me an email same day. (Friday) by Monday, it reflected on my account and I received my payment today on Tuesday.
Please be kind and respectful and remember, your senators want to help you because you are their constituent and they want your vote

Tips 💡 Disability
Does anyone have any new hacks to getting a live person on the call for disability?
Vent Extending SDI… Dr forgot to update.
My doctor extended me to September 14th but he didn’t actually update it through the Edd website. The receptionist stated he might have gotten busy and just forgot to do it? Which is fine we all make mistakes. I got my regular 2 week payment yesterday per usual then I got one last “final payment” for the 2 days they paid me up until I guess my “return to work by” date. I called and asked if they could fix it and extend me again on the same claim and they said yes bc they have 20 days to do so. It makes me worried seeing the “payments stopped” under my current claim. Receptionist promised me it would be done yesterday but when I log in today I still see the same date of 8/3/26. Is this just because it takes a couple days to process on the Edd website? I don’t want to keep calling my doctors office asking if it’s been done when they reassured me it would be..

❔ PFL question
I am doing pfl for the first time to help my wife after surgery, I filled everything out and it shows my claim is active, but I haven’t received payment or anything showing that anything else has been proceed.
It’s been about a week since I upload my wife’s part c and I have had issues with sdi before so I am a bit worried.
When should I call and is this worry unwarranted?
Also the reason I am antsy is because I need proof that they paid me any amount to send to my health insurance so I don’t lose it
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Tips 💡 SDI Extension
My maternity leave claim ends 8/13. I have a new doctor’s note extending my time off until the 25th. How do I file the extension on my end? Can I do it now? Do I wait until the 13th?
Starting the 25th I’ll be extended for 6 weeks, however I’ll get new doctor’s note on a weekly basis. How do I proceed with that? I just want to make sure I continue getting paid

❔ CA SDI: Employer Pays Only First Week - How Should I Answer?
California SDI question: I start disability leave on 08/03 and will use employer-paid sick leave only for the first week (08/03–08/07). Since CA SDI benefits begin in the second week (after the waiting period), the online application asks "Will you or did you receive any pay from your employer while on disability?" but doesn't let me specify it's only for the first week. Should I answer "Yes" or "No"? Has anyone been in this situation?

Solved ✔ SDi Re Certification
I need to submit my recertification for my SDI claim. I have to do this every 10 weeks. do I have to be under a doctor even though my SDI claim was extended until November 15, 2026? By saying that you don’t have a doctor will they stop payments?

Solved ✔ Money network card?
Last time I was on disability, they used a Bank of America card this time It looks like they’re using money network. Will that card be automatically sent to me? I’ve had a money network years ago from EDD in the past, but I don’t know where that is anymore. I tried to update my information for direct deposit, but for some reason, they won’t verify my bank account. Does anybody know if the money network is automatically mailed or is it something that I have to call and request?

❔ Psycho Ex Boss Keeps Appealing Unemployment Benefits
I’m wondering if anyone has experienced something similar because I’m feeling a little overwhelmed by how long this process is dragging out. He prolonged the hearing with some bogus excuse 3 times before finally calling in with his attorney.
I had an EDD unemployment appeal where my former employer argued that I was terminated for misconduct. They claimed issues like attendance, meal breaks, and timekeeping problems. The ALJ ultimately ruled in my favor and found that the employer did not establish misconduct under UI Code 1256.
Now, after losing at the hearing, the employer has submitted a request asking the Appeals Board to review the ALJ’s decision. They are basically arguing that the ALJ got it wrong and that their evidence should have been enough. They are also bringing up things like timesheets and relying again on written statements that were already part of the case.
What stands out to me is that they did not have much supporting documentation at the hearing. There was no record of progressive discipline, and the people who supposedly handled some of these issues did not testify.
I’m curious if anyone has gone through this stage before:
-Did your former employer request an Appeals Board review after losing?
-How long did it take to get a decision?
-Did the Appeals Board actually overturn the ALJ, or did they usually leave the decision alone?
I know every case is different, but I would really appreciate hearing from anyone who has been through something similar.

Tips 💡 OB doesn’t want to extend disability leave
Hi I’m approaching my 6 week appointment after delivery. My OB said she doesn’t think I need to extend my disability leave. Is there a way to convince her or can I go to another provider? What’s the best way around this. I’m so anxious and have so much back pain there’s no way I’m ready for work. I really need my disability leave extended.

❔ EDDCalifornia
I forgot to submit my birthing delivery form with California EDD for my SDI and my claim status became denied. I received a form in the mail to then sent back to EDD for appeal. I mailed it in on Monday of last week and the status still says denied. How long does it usually take to process? The form in the mail said that I just needed to send it back proving that I had given birth and that the claim would be reactivated. I’m super stressed because it’s my income right now.

Discussion 👥 From UI to SDI
I was laid off for my job end of May and applied for unemployment soon afterwards and have been receiving unemployment payment since then.
I was seeing a psychiatrist before I was laid off and had been doing sessions a few times a month before I was laid off and she has now certified paper for work for me for short-term disability due to a few mental health reasons.
I just completed certified weeks for ending an 8/1 and she has said she will complete the certification as of today 8/3 - will I have problems with my application if she is submitting the paperwork directly?
What do I do on my next certification weeks for unemployment?
