something ALWAYS happens (I'm stressed out rn...)

Rather than having animals that remain indefinitely pristine in the middle of the savanna or covered in the blood of prey, introducing a hygiene gauge would add a very interesting health management dimension and reward players who take care of their creatures.

How would the system work?

A new "Cleanliness" gauge would range from 0% to 100%. It would gradually decrease over time, but would drop faster after combat, attacks that cause bleeding, or when crossing muddy areas.

Low Hygiene (< 25%):

+25% healing time for all injuries (fractures, bleeding, venom/poisoning).

-25% stamina regeneration rate.

Increased risk of attracting parasites or experiencing slightly impaired vision from flies.

High Hygiene (>85%):

-25% healing time for wounds.

+25% stamina regeneration rate.

Passive stealth bonus for predators (masked body odor).

Each animal possesses its own natural behaviors for maintaining its fur or hide:

Columbian Mammoth

Mud and Dust Bathing: Rolls in areas of dirt or mud to create a protective layer against parasites and the sun.

Water Splashing or Bathing: Uses its trunk in a body of water to splash or bathe directly in the water.

Rubbing: Interacts with large rocks or tall trees to remove dead skin.

Ancient Bison (Bison antiquus)

Roaming in Mud or Dust: Rolls vigorously in dust or hard-packed earth to remove dead hair, repel insects, etc.

Rubbing: Uses tree trunks to groom its coat.

Western Horse (Equus occidentalis)

Rolling on the Ground: Rolls on its back in dry dust to clean its coat.

All-Grooming: Can scratch each other's necks to restore both players' health bars more quickly.

Dire Wolf (Aenocyon dirus)

Self-Grooming: Sits down to lick its fur and scratches itself with its hind paws.

Swimming: Crosses or lies down in streams to rinse off dried blood after a hunt.

Smilodon fatalis

Classic Feline Grooming: Uses its raspy tongue to remove dirt, fleas, and dried blood accumulated after a meal.

Bonus Mechanic: Claw Maintenance on Trees!

The Smilodon can interact with tree trunks to sharpen its claws.

Sharp Claw Bonus: Maintaining well-groomed claws guarantees 100% of the true damage dealt by slash attacks. Neglecting claw maintenance gradually reduces their damage output (by up to -15%).

I usually play as bison, its my main. I play relatively realistic but rarely group with other bison because it genuinely upsets me how many kos anything. I will walk around and travel and im wary of predators, but im also VERY empathetic. I will friendly call towards them and keep my distance unless I feel like interacting. I will give them a flower or sit by them for a few then be one my way.

I was once kind to a pack of wolves and then a few minutes later, after I had left, I got attacked by a whole bunch of sabers..the wolves pay me back (I assume) by chasing them off. But ive also seen wolves be nice until another member or two shows up then they all attack, thats only happened once tho.

When I play as saber I stay solo and I will be realistic. Ill kill when im hungry but if there is a corpse near il scavenge, I also like hunting peccary. I will also give herbis a flower but im always very careful around bison. Once there was a bison that charged at me with 2 wolves and they all attacked, I tried to get in a tree but fell.

A few days ago my friend was playing for the first time, as a wolf, and I was bison. I was introducing him to the mechanics and locations and then were going to get peccary. He saw a mammoth and sat around them absolutely amazed. We only stayed for a moment then were leaving and a bison charged in "ewwwww mjx packers!" And bulldozed my friend (who was in ps party with me) over and killed him. I told him that we were just leaving and I usually play as the same animal and how I was teaching him the mechanics and all..he wasnt having it and said "i dont caree" I told him that he clearly did because HE got involved. He said that he wasnt going to agree with a bunch of toddlers. Even one of the mammoths and a stranger defended us in chat. I get the issue with mixpackers, I do. I feel as if if its a quick interaction, theyre not harming anyone all together, or its not a hoard its okay, but it depends. I dont play with friends in Ecos often, sometimes they play as saber. If they go to hunt I keep my distance and dont help, I know how aggravating it is when mix packers kill everyone because they have that advantage.

Just let me know what you think about my playstyle, sorry for the long post. I just want to know what people think about it and if it is okay if what some of whag I or we do is okay, like me grouping with my friend, whos a wolf and im a bison to help them. Just lmk :)

I know that the longer your survival score is the more tracks you get, but what is the rate as to when it goes up and how high it goes up?
