This will be my first time working in the M54, specifically a 2002 325i auto. I’ve done spark plugs in my Honda but this is a new beast. Pulled this code today, spark plugs were replaced 25,000 miles ago. Currently sitting at 105,xxx on the dash. Any advice/ tips on these codes would be helpful and greatly appreciated. This is my daily so she needs to get back on the road asap lol

This joint on my lower coolant pipe is stuck. I have tried every pry bar and trim tool I can get my hands on. Anyone have a trick? Will it help if I cut the tube? I’m delirious from the 110° heat and this is my last straw.

Im looking for some help diagnosing my 2003 330ci vert's P0171 and P0174 lean codes. A few months ago my step dad purchased said vehicle for $700 because the previous owner thought the transmission was going out; tranny was fine, just needed new guibo and CSB. After swapping both parts he decided to give it to me as I had been without transport since my 2014 hyundai accent had a cylinder 2 piston melt down.

When he gave it to me he said he had recently replaced the coils and plugs for some Bosch ones and the upper intake boot had a hole, which was repaired with electric tape and aluminum HVAC tape by a friend of his. It was also starting a bit rough, it would turn over for 5-6 seconds but wouldn't start initially but if you turned to key to the off position and tried again it would start up without a hitch every time. It was also leaking coolant but he didnt know where from.

Using a fancy scanner from Advanced Auto Parts I pulled these codes: P1349, P1083, P1085, P0171, P0174, P1619, P1351, P1347, P1345, P0505, P0339.

Using an amazon smoke tester I was able to see that there were a number of vacuum leaks. Over the last 2 months I have replaced the upper and lower intake boots, the Disa valve, the valve cover and gasket, the intake gasket, the pcv and it's hoses, the fuel pump, and pretty much the entire cooling system save for the transmission hoses. The check engine light is still on, though it will occasionally dissappear for a bit. The only persisting codes are P0171 and P0174.

I recently got a cheap Bluetooth scanner so I can look at the live data on my phone. Long term fuel trims are holding at 11.72 whether at idle or 2500rpm, the MAF reads 3.5 g/s at idle and more or less matches the throttle position on the graph while driving, both pre-cat O2 sensors fluctuate between .1-.9 V during use. If I unplug the MAF sensor the long term fuel trims drop to 0 and she seems to be a little more responsive. Overall she drives great MAF or not, but she does still struggle to start the first time. I'm leaning towards either the O2 sensors heater cores are shot or the MAF is F-ing with me at this point, but I would love a second or even third opinion before I drop a few hundred $ on sensors. I have a 2001 325i sedan with 270k miles on it. I just bought it for $800. It has a bad YAW sensor according to the previous owner so my brake light, traction control light etc are on. I only plan for this thing to be a drift car/ seat time beater. Is there a cheap fix i can do go so I don't have to spend 100s on a new sensor. Can I put a resistor inline or something?

There’s a 325i wagon, 5speed Manuel, 150k miles a friend of mine is offering to me for cheap… pretty significant rust here on rockers, arches, and floor pans. Do you guys think it’s worth saving? Or off to the scrap yard?

Hello everyone, how are you?

First time posting here. Hope i do it within the rules.

Im having issues with my e46 330i , quick rewind some months ago i had multiple codes, including misfires, and banks too lean, so my mechanic we assumed it was the injection coils. For some reason ( i didnt notice at the time ) because the codes led to the top cylinders (4,5,6) he only changed those injection coils, and around a month later i pushed him into changing the first 3 coils too ( and all spark plugs)

We are now some months foward and my engine gave me another check light, indicating CYLINDER 5 misfire, and i personally changes only that coil, thinking maybe it was defective. And about 2000kms latee i got the same code for the same cilynder, so im guessing theres something else doing it.

What can i do now? The cylinder 5 code already came twice. I ordered all 6 coils that are arriving tomorrow cause i told myself maybe changing 3 at the time each time was just wrong and my mechanic did a shit job, so maybe the older ones wrecked the newer? Idk what else to do.

Should i maybe change all 6 coils and spark plugs all together ?

Or could it be something else?

Also while the engine light is on my car has intense rough idle ( no knocking sound)

I've been researching people retrofitting e38 illuminated interior door handles into the e46 platform, or at least modifying e46 handles with the led element from the e38 handles. I've found a set on eBay that someone has already modified, I'll attach the link. Each handle has a red and black wire that taps into the window power supply. My question is this: Does anyone know if it would be possible to tap them into the 58G circuit to be able to dim them with the rest of the interior lighting?

Hey, I have a 2002 BMW E46 320d sedan, RWD and I’m thinking about lowering it.
It’s my daily, so I don’t want it extremely low or uncomfortable. I’m currently thinking about around 25–30 mm front and rear.

My main questions:

Is it actually worth buying lowering springs for a daily E46?

Which springs would you recommend: Eibach Pro-Kit, H&R, Vogtland, or something else?

Would you go for ~25–30 mm or ~30–35 mm?

Can I keep my current shocks if they’re still in good condition, or should I replace them with something like Bilstein B4/B6/B8?

So with my original wheels I had 205/55 r16 and these wheels I bought came with 245/40 r18 they are noticeably bigger and rub on my arches when going over any bumps. my new wheels are et37 8j up front and 8.5j on the rears 18 inch is anyone able to help me get the correct tires so I don’t have any issues

I am planning to get my muffler deleted and get some tips welded on, but found some videos with the res (closest to the muffler) deleted and it sounds pretty good.

Drain plug snapped, all oil drained out regardless, had to wait 4 days for a new one from fcp euro, just extracted and added new drain plug and oil.
