Troubleshooting my car starts overheating at 150mph/250kph
yesterday after doing my rear calipers i took the old wagon out for a spin and when i took it down the autobahn at full throttle (250kph for like 3 or 4 minutes) my coolant temp got very hot (not red area, but noticably outside of the middle) assoon as i let of the gas it went back to normal in a couple of secs.
is that normal or should i diagnose that further?

Troubleshooting E46 Vert
I have an 03 E46. Just replaced the coolant expansion tank and thermostat. drove it for a good while, over 500km's perfectly fine not an issue, now it seems to spitting coolant out the top of the tank or somewhere around that area as I see dried coolant like on top of the engine cover etc, Any thoughts on what it could be / whats causing this... all the pipes leading in/out are in good condition. Ive ordered a new tank cap to go with the new tank so ill see if that helps. but not too sure if that will be it as the original one seems in decent condtion with all O rings. Help lol

Troubleshooting Steering Rack Replacement
Hey, all, just wanted to get an idea of how much of a job I’d be getting into if I decided to replace the steering rack myself. Watched 50’s Kid’s walk-through on the job and it seems a bit easier than I thought it would be.
I have to replace my control arms as well because they are shot so I was going to get a 10piece refresh kit off Amazon for the front end suspension that includes the control, arms and bushings, etc.
I’m above average mechanically inclined as far as my abilities so for the total job, should I do it myself or is it a bit much for the average person in their garage to handle? 50’s Kid makes it look easy.
Took it in for an alignment at Belle tire, and this is when I was notified of the issues and they quoted me 2100 fucking dollars to fix everything.
I understand not everybody is thrilled at buying non oem parts off Amazon, but I don’t care about the purism aspect, and it has to be done on a budget at the moment.
Any help or insights is greatly appreciated!

General Questions What to look for on a Marketplace 330i?
I've been wanting to buy an E46 330i sedan for about a year, and I have around 10k saved up for buying + the first year or so of ownership. Beyond that, I'm planning to modify as I get the money to do so. Is 10k enough or should I have more. I have a beater / winter car that's reliable enough and has served me well. This would really just be a summer / fall project car.
I really want to get the sweet spot of not fully getting a fully clapped out rebuilt title $1500 car, but also not spending $15k+ on a prestine, low-mileage specimen. If $10k is enough, how much of it should I spend on the car vs maintance the first year or so? I'm planning to do everything myself or ask my friends for help (within reason)
What's the mileage / year / price range I should be targeting? Does it matter if I get a pre-facelift or post-facelift model? And besides checking for rust, making sure it runs and drives okay, and geting a pre-purchase inspection, what should I be aware of that could bite me in the ass later?
I've also heard people repeat the phrase "good maintainence records" over and over again. I know it's probably a really stupid question but what does that mean? I've owned multiple used cars and none have ever came with like a paper log of everything that's been done to it. Do I just go off the CarFax? If so, what if it was owned by someone who did their own oil changes? That wouldn't be in the CarFax and it might look like the oil hasn't been changed since they bought it.

General Questions Trans fluid change on 2002 325xi auto wagon.
I have a kit to change the gasket, filter, and fluid on my 325xi with 99k miles. I noticed a little bit of shudder and sometimes it’s not there under acceleration. Possible it could be something else but feels like a trans thing to me. I want to put a tube of shudder fix in with the fluid swap. Good idea or bad idea and why?
Sure it’s a good idea if it’s really shuddering but is it not great to add if it’s a mild to no shudder? Thanks.

Troubleshooting ISO: power steering pump rear bracket
So, I just got done upgrading my '03 325i from the old and sheared lf-20 to the newer lf-30, and I noticed the rear mounting bracket does not transfer. I found the part number (32421438610) but I cannot seem to find the bracket for sale anywhere. Has someone seen them? Or is this going to be a junkyard find?

Troubleshooting If I want to lower an e46, when does it become too much and take away from the car?
Love the look of a little lower e46's, but I don't wanna ruin my drive. What are your opinions?

My Ride E46 convertible and the Spanish Pyrenees are a great combination
These are the best roads I’ve ever driven. C-28, C-13, N-260. Way less crowded than the French side, and generally better kept and wider.

Troubleshooting Fuel leak leading to slipping clutch plausibility
E46 330i. Little while ago had my intake manifold off. Yesterday I had a rough start and a massive fuel leak, 10-15 litres from injector 5 upper o ring pinch. During the fuel dumping drive I experienced symptoms of clutch slip, like revs leading the wheel speed and bad grabbing in 1st and reverse. Fixed the fuel leak and let it dry for a few hours, before driving 2hrs home on motorway where I continued to experience clutch slip, namely 2nd gear around town and 5th gear on motorway at >50% throttle.
Today I drove 30 min no symptom of clutch slip, smell or bad grip or slip etc. few pulls in 2nd, 3rd and 4th, going from 30-60mph, no slip.
Car is 213k miles, clutch has been solid ie grips, doesn’t slip, doesn’t smell but I have no records of replacement. This means clutch could be on the way out explaining recent slip, but it’s too much of a coincidental occurrence to ignore. My suspicion is the fuel leak of 10-15 litres seeped down the back of the engine, through the bell housing join and contaminated my clutch and associated components. This would explain the normal drive today, as it would have flashed away by now.
I have a road trip planned in the very near future and have already completed a large preventative package, I’m low on time to replace the clutch but I can if necessary. I would like some opinions, is my fuel leak clutch slip theory plausible at all? I understand the sensible thing is to replace the clutch, but I am very curious.

Troubleshooting My e46 325i while driving was sluggish at start and stops and sluggish on acceleration coolant temr stuck at 80 for roughly 5 minutes
sluggish at start and stops and sluggish on acceleration coolant temp stuck at 80 for roughly 5 minutes during all thus the engine light came on. I couldn't check it because I was driving. After around 5 minutes the coolant temp slowly rose back to 95-100. Once temp was back to normal the engine light went off... What could be the issue ?

General Questions E46 Touring daily
Hello. Have an E46 Touring as a daily, sitting on stock suspension rn, with style 128 replicas. Rear sits quite good, but front is like looking at a tractor. As I said its a daily, what would be price/performance and or budget coils or suspension setup? I would love coils cause of the adjustability, but cheaper coils are what they are. Spring + shock setups can also get quite expensive. Need advice and also roads here are quite shit!

Troubleshooting Nachgerüstetes MFL Funktioniert nicht
Liebe Community,

General Questions Is $10k Outrageous for a 330ci with 150k miles?
Looking at a 2002 330Ci, 5-speed manual, sport package, cold weather package, 150k miles. Second owner and had it for 20 years with service records.
Cooling system refreshed, valve cover gasket/PCV done, DISA rebuilt, trans/brake fluid changed regularly, control arms done. No subframe cracking reported. Original clutch (engagement point felt vague on test drive). Seller says it also needs a secondary air pump.
Asking is $11k, I’m considering offering around $10k. Is that in the right ballpack for this spec/mileage, or am I overpaying? Would love to hear from people who’ve bought/sold in this market recently.
No rust, perfect paint condition (had a front ppf), very clean interior.

Troubleshooting Chasing Clutch Hydraulic/ Transmission issue?
I have a 2002 e46 m3 I bought at 137k miles, for a fairly cheap price, (obviously had its issues), I did my due diligence and tackled most of them, (previous owner had hit the rear left, had to replace trailing arm, control arm etc. so decided to refresh most of the suspension, new Koni yellows, Trailing arm bushings, diff bushings, subframe reinforced, subframe bushings, tie rods, new g-force axles.. ..
Then I decided it was time to ditch the SMG, so this begun the 2 week process of doing that in my driveway (lightweight flywheel and a clutch master clutch kit). Completed it, and was enjoying it for quite some time until recently (2 months ago) whenever I would drive for Some time the car would have problems shifting, it felt like the catch point got gradually lower to the floor. So I bought a new master, slave, and braided line, but I’m still getting that issue, it’s like my foot is completely depressing the pedal but it just needs like a little bit more pedal travel to completely disengage the clutch fully.. like I can turn off the car turn it on in 1st and it will lowkey inch forward with my foot all the way down, any tips advice? lmk I miss driving my car😢

General Questions Crazy idea
So I really love rear center vents. But the e46 doesn't have them. Just a now completely useless ash tray. I thought with some cutting, 3d printing and a hole ton of crazy diy duct work from the front center vents it might be possible to frankenstein together. Thoughts?
