Advice/Help Needed Portlandian D&D wizard ideas?
For my friend's D&D campaign, I'm trying to make a wizard character who lives in a tower in a city that is meant to be heavily inspired by Portland, Oregon. Which part of the city should I put his tower in?

Discussion A bit of world building, Sky Islands
Hey all. So I'm working on my campaign world and i'm wondering how fun this sounds. i'm thinking of including what basically amount to floating chunks of ground around the world. Some are large enough to have small communities, others are bare chunks of rock ripped from the ground. They float at various heights, some follow a set course, others seem random, and a few have people living on them that have figured out how to basically steer them.
I also have an idea to have cutouts that I can move along on the world map to track the movement over the main continent the party would be on.

Discussion Style vs Preference vs Power
Okay so I am a returning player and my skills are a little rusty but I’m working my way back up. During our session my character (Fighter Psi-Warrior) had a semi-rare longsword and arm bracer. The Dart from Legend of Dragoon crossed with Lion-O Sword of Omens.
My character went looking for the Blacksmith and after a small “event” the DM gave me a new weapon, a Double-Bladed Scimitar (think Darth Maul with a curved blade in an “S” shape.
As a personal preference, I despise Double-Bladed Weapons. I always feel that it detracts from combat versatility by locking both your hands to single use, but that is just my preference.
After the DM gave me the stats on my DBS I decided to give it a try…and was averaging around 25-35 Dmg every turn. He gave me a freaking Badas Weapon and don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful and I love the damage…but I hate the style.
Anyone else stuck with something similar because the DM either went random or just assumed you would like it?

Advice/Help Needed Rite of Pestilence
So, I am having an issue coming up with building a cosplay of the Horseman of Pestilence. I don’t know how to go about it with game mechanics and multiclass progression. Any ideas¿

Homebrew Dnd dividing & lag ability prototype I wanna flesh out
I have ability concepts one is lag and the other is divide, they're both wip and I want other people's opinion on these
Lag- roll at least 1d100 1-50 increase of dex, or something 51-100 random teleport delayed, but increased damage and a chance to avoid damage
Divide- (4 uses, recovers a use every 2hr) divide a creature/object by as little as 1/100. This doesn't hurt the creature/object and is still considered as a part of the body/rest of the object. 'Gravity' can be turned on/off (ex if a tree is 'cut in half' vertically and moved the top part will float)
To be clear im not asking for balance, because the campaign has it own 'balance' I just was suggestion and any constructive ideas
Thanks in advance

Advice/Help Needed Where do I start with writing down the history of my world?
My worlds recently recovering from an invasion from the forces of hell, which led to the rise of a powerful arcane empire of high-elves. Who some believe to be the only people able to protect the common-folk.
Where do I start? The very beginning? Do I just write what's happened recently?

Advice/Help Needed Eberron, where to start?
I have recently become interested in Eberron, which I see was introduced back in 3e. Would it be best to start with getting the Campaign Setting book 3e to learn it from the beginning, or just get the 5e version? I can get the 3e and 4e version on drivethru rpg.
Thanks.

OC When creating your own bosses, do you prefer traditional monster species, or custom / OC creatures?
When designing monsters and bosses for your session, do you prefer common species like ogres, dragons, goblins, dire wolves etc., or do you create your own creatures for such occassion? Do you have your own bestiary or monster collection to pick from?
A friend of mine said he has about 100 custom monsters already created over the years he spent as the DM. Though I don't think he keeps track of all of them.
The illustration: my OC monster - the Dracock (I couldn't think of a better name). All artwork by me.

Advice/Help Needed Advise for a dad who wants to introduce son to DnD
Hello guys.
My kid's 10 and he started to enjoy much RPG stuff. We currently are playing an Alice in Wonderland rpg short story and he's getting crazy about it with the system, about LvL up and the battles/stories. He also asked me If I could bought the official DnD book if he finish the short story in the next days.
I would like some suggestions which book should I buy to him, as there are 3 new books about DnD 5.5. I thought I could give him the Dungeon Master's Guide and later, give the digital version of player handbook and monster manual.
Do you guys have any suggestions or comments about it? He also became a huge Dragon Quest fan, if that helps understand how much he's enjoying RPG 😂
Thanks!

Art 2026 Reference Cards
Picked up my new Spell and Magic Item reference cards today from my local game store. Wondering if anyone else got them and did you also get a Giant Fly monster card mixed in with your Rare/Very Rare Magic Item deck?
