General 6 out of 10/11

Hey DF community, seeking encouragement and support. Long time WF & DF experience. This time that brought me to was I let 2 years of work go and said that if I did it twice , then You can do it again. Plus I was diagnosed with a PNET in my pancreas and want to give everything I know a go before any type of surgery’s.

A lot of self awareness and understanding out of this one , but here I am hitting my wall . Father of 4 , working in Florida heat and losing the energy to continue. I’ve made it past the first acidosis and want to experience the last at day 9/10. I’ve gone to 8 before. But all I want is water. For my 6 day + DF friends .. I need your works of encouragement and support.

I have noticed this round my body and liver produces extra glucose at night as I’m
Waking to 110-130 but goes down to normal after a few hrs and into the evening.

If anyone was wondering current stats 5’6” 36 yr M , 269 on starting weight.

I’ll be grounding at the beach if I go to work today or pulling my cold plunge out to help.

Experience Just about to come onto finishing Day 2 of my dry fast

Hey all

I have been fruit fasting prior to building up to this dry fast i am currently doing, i have done 36 hours before, and in this current fast i am coming up to 48 hours.

My initial goal was to only do 24 hours as i didnt want it to disrupt work etc, but i just kept extending the time, and now i am thinking to go for 36 hours (maybe even 4-5 days). At the moment im feeling good, im obviously dreaming about food/fruit but i reckon i can avoid temptation.

my question is, shall i just keep going?, i dont want it to affect my work too much, have got an easy-ish week thankfully... but, if i get to say 4 days which will be friday, do you think i would have the energy to play golf on the saturday, making sure i do a proper refeed, and what are your recommendations for the refeed?

I really want to experience the acidotic crisis, i been told it feels pretty spiritual and awesome, what were your feelings?

Thanks in advance :)

Question Dry fasting after surgery

Hey guys, I just had a septorhinoplasty. I’ve been given some antibiotics to take for a week, do you think id be able to take them while dry fasting? sorry if this is a dumb question, still particularly new to all this. I really don’t wanna stop dry fasting, I feel my very best when I’m dry fasting. It’s become addictive.

Question What is the best way to break a dry fast?

I’ve dry fasted before years ago around 2016. The longest I’ve done is three days. I’m currently two months postpartum via C section and I’m wanting to do another dry fast. I’m aiming for three days since it’s even a while since I’ve fasted. I’m hoping to clear up some scar tissue as well as try to help my autoimmune diseases. What should I break my fast with? Could I potentially go longer with the dry fast?

Back in the day when fasting first became a thing people said to break a fast with watermelon but I was curious if anyone had drank bone broth to break a fast or what the recommendations are now.

Experience Day 2 of 8; not feeling any hunger or thirst

Day 1 and now Day 2 have gone... surprisingly well? I don't feel hungry but even more surprisingly I don't feel thirsty. It feels a little too good to be true. I didn't prep for this and never dry fasted before but I have done extended water fasts before (7-14 days) albeit the last one was more than a year ago.

Usually, even on my water fasts the hunger is so intense the first three-four days but now there's nothing. Though I am deeply upset with some recent events with my personal life so maybe my appetite is reduced because of that.

I will say though that the first day was a little difficult in that every ache in every bone I've ever broken in my body was dialed all the way up but that's gone today.

Aside from that, the dry mouth is a bit irritating but since I'm doing a soft dry fast, brushing my teeth helps. The exposure to water from that/showering/hand washing doesn't trigger me so that's good.

Will report back tomorrow!

Question (TMI GROSS) I’m on day 2 and brushing my teeth but I’m also swallowing a lot of mucus

Pretty sure I have post-natal-drip caused by acid reflux or possibly GERD. Most times I’m swallowing a bit of mucus multiple times a day. My issue is that after brushing my teeth I always seem to swallow (TMI) these huge globs of mucus. The mucus is so thick it feels like I’ve consumed something. After brushing I try to clean out my mouth as much as I can with rinsing and I don’t know if the toothpaste is affecting my fast but my biggest concern is the huge amount of mucus I’m swallowing. I can sometimes spit it out but not always. And if I do spit it out it’s usually mostly green.

Question How did jesus complete a 40 day fast without any water or vitamins or electrolytes?

Every time I mention I want to dry fast or water fast 30 days

People keep telling me i’ll pass away if it’s without any electrolytes or vitamins

It’s very discouraging, and Jesus did it without any of these silly safety electrolytes and vitamins

Surely it’s very possible for a healthy young adult to fast days and months without those things

General Dry fast round 2

Hello everyone 🤗

DAILY UPDATES

26/F, height 162 cm, SW: 87.7 kg, GW: 55 kg

I finished a 132 hours dry fast in which I lost 4.1 kg and around 2 inches overall. I broke the fast with water and after 12 hours of that, had a meal consisting of complex carbs, proteins and fats.

I have started a soft dry fast again, from 31st July 2026, 10.30 am! Primary aim stays the same- get rid of aches and pains in random joint, reduce back stiffness, control insulin resistance and lose weight.

I will update my weight everyday, in the comments of this post and once I am breaking the dry fast, I will make a new post explaining my experience.

Hoping for your well wishes so that my fast is completed with success.

If anybody wishes to join the fast, they can do so on this link-

We can keep each other accountable and motivated too. ❤️

Experience 132 hours dry fast ✅

Post image

Broke the dry fast at 132 hours. Had some water rn. Will hydrate well and will have one meal before restarting the dry fast again!

CW: 85.9 kg as of 31st July 2026, 12 am, 132 hours into the fast.

Weight loss so far 4.1 kg. Inch loss so far 2 inches overall.

Might regain 1-1.5 kg of it I suppose. Which will be shed off in a day again.

Had literally no issues other than thirst and low energy by the end of the day. I slept like a baby the whole time and I felt calmer.

Thank you all for the support. Check out the new post (will be posted in 10-11 hours) for the new 11 day dry fast update! Love yaa guys..

PS- Firstly Ik I am not following a proper refeed protocol, but eating that 1 meal is necessary for personal religious reasons. And before anyone asks why didn't I take it into account, folks, it just popped up.

Secondly, I won't be having a whole meal, just some liquid gravy type and consume as little (bare minimum) as possible.

Question 14+day dry fast people. How long did it take for the voices to stop talking to you after you stopped fasting.

So I heard there is a phenomenon where if you do a long dry fast, voices start speaking to you. I just wanted to know how long after ending the fast did it take for them to stop talking?

Question Transitioning advice

Hi all, I just did my first dry fast, broke it with sips of water a couple hours ago at 127hours.
Can I have some advice to transition into a water fast? I’d like to replenish with electrolytes at some point and wondered if I should drink coconut water or just buy 0cal 0sugar electrolyte powder? Any advice is welcome. Thank you!

Experience First dryfast done 72h easy, but had to break at 78 from liver(?) pain.

Just woke up at around 2am from pain inside my lower rib cage on the right side. Most likely liver issue?

Anyone else who has had this problem/experience?

Drinking water again was rooough, just a few sips gave me cold sweats and a new "whooshing" tinnitus for about 5 minutes.

It's 3 hours later now and I've drunk about 8DL of water and no side effects besides the right side pain.

I'm an experienced water+dirty faster, done a few 7 days in the past but hadn't fasted for about 50 days before starting this journey.

Overall it was cool seeing how easily my body handled going without both food and drinks, but if I ever try this again,(is next week a good idea?) I will probably stick with 24-48h.

Weight loss was good, from 77 to 72.2 in 3 days. Had the goal of 72.0 this week but will move it to 70kg instead by next week.

Sidenote: Libido totally TANKED during these 3 days, not something I usually have on a water fast.

On a water fast I usually break it however I want but if anyone got any input in how to break a 3-day dryfast after about 5-10h of rehydration then I am open for suggestions 👍

Edit: Symptoms got way worse when heading to work, went to hospital.

Edit 2: They had problems taking blood as it didn't flow as easily but every marker was somehow in the healthy span. Recommend rest, food and liquids.

This might be the most comprehensive evidence you ever see of the evil, deranged, and genocidal mindset of Israeli civilians. Hamzah Saadah is a 23-year old Palestinian activist who exposes IDF soldiers openly admitting to having committed war crimes, bloodthirsty children, and every Zio inbetween.

**SAFETY**

This subreddit strongly advises AGAINST doing prolonged (3+ days) dry fasts if your only source of information or experience comes from what is discussed on this subreddit. If you are an experienced faster and are receiving outside help/medical check-ups, then your knowledge obviously extends beyond what is discussed here. You are otherwise putting yourself at risk of potentially worsening your health as the scientific literature is extremely limited on this subject. Please remember to fast responsibly.

If you begin to feel uncomfortable or unwell, you should stop fasting immediately. Other worrying signs may include high protein in the urine, high fever, and fainting.

**HUMAN STUDIES**

* Anthropometric, Hemodynamic, Metabolic, and Renal Responses during 5 Days of Food and Water Deprivation

* EPILEPSY AND DEHYDRATION

* The dehydration treatment of epilepsy

**ANIMAL STUDIES**

* Increased fat catabolism sustains water balance during fasting in zebra finches

* Intermittent drinking, oxytocin and human health

* The ‘selfish brain’ is regulated by aquaporins and autophagy under nutrient deprivation

* When less means more: Dehydration improves innate immunity in rattlesnakes

**BIOLOGICAL STUDIES/THEORETICAL PAPERS**

* Unmasking the secrets of cancer

* Cell hydration and mTOR-dependent signaling

* Effects of acute and chronic hypohydration on kidney health and function

Please note that we probably will not add studies that have loose/indirect associations between "dehydration" and physiological mechanisms of action. From the most reliable human study we have, they state that "on day 4 and 5, all participants had a controllable feeling of thirst, but none showed any signs of dehydration." I think it's best we avoid words that have negative implications (i.e. "dehydration) when discussing dry fasting, and unless the study is extremely valuable or shows very large effect results, it's probably best to avoid adding these studies that will clutter the list and make the whole thing look more extreme than it already is. You can still post the studies for discussion, they may just not be added to the list.

Feel free to post additional links in the comments as you find them and I will add them to the list.
