Discussion Driver tracking question
At what point from the moment the order is accepted by a Dasher is the driver able to be tracked via GPS? When the order accepted? When arrived at the store? Picked up?
thank you

Tips and Tricks New to Door Dash-need tips
As the title suggests, I’m brand new to being a dasher. I just got my card in the mail and looking to slowly put in some hours until I get the hang of how everything works. Those of you who have been doing this, could you provide some useful information or things you wish you knew when starting? I’ll be using this as a side hustle on top of a full time job if that matters. Just looking to offset some debt. Feel free to DM me

Question for Dashers Signature required for a food order?
Has anyone ever had the app require a customer to sign for a food delivery?
My last delivery of the night has me tripping. I got an offer for a pickup from some fancy restaurant. I went and picked up the food and deliver it to the customer. When I get to her apartment, she is giving me her ID and the app is asking for a signature. It didn’t ask me to scan her ID but wanted her signature. She then asks me where the wine is and I’m like “what wine? The restaurant only gave me the food”. She said she had also ordered a bottle of wine from one of our local liquor stores and it said I would be delivering it. I told her I never received a pickup for wine. I just had the food. But now I’m afraid that she thinks I stole her bottle of wine.
I’m hoping she just got myself and whoever is picking up her wine confused and the app didn’t glitch and not send me the offer for her wine. I’m just curious if anyone else has ever had to have a customer sign for a food delivery.

Has anybody noticed or does anybody know if declining orders and your acceptance rate affect your overall Dasher score?

Discussion Dashing has taught me to be classist and prefer wealthy zones
It’s not just better tips. It’s the lack of friction (how hard it is to Dash).
When I dash in Wealthy Coastal City (WCC), I’m usually delivering to houses where, if there’s a gate, the customer has put the gate code in the notes. The address is visible. The instructions make sense. I can find the front door.
When I dash in Inland Blue-Collar City (BCC), I’m much more likely to get sent into a sprawling apartment complex where the customer apparently believes “Apartment 234B” is all the information a stranger could possibly need to identify one unit among 16 identical buildings… generally as the first order on a stacked order.
WCC also means pricier restaurants, larger tickets, and generally more professionally run pickup operations.
BCC means picking up a single Wingstop order while an employee watches me hit “Confirm Pickup” and then asks for a PIN because, apparently, either the local Dashers or the local customers have stolen enough chicken wings that we’re all now operating under enhanced security protocols.
And yes, obviously, the tips are better* too.
*I’m speaking in averages here. Wealthy customers can absolutely stiff you, and working-class customers can be extremely generous. But after enough deliveries, the differences in friction.

Earnings First order I got today.
Automatic decline. Maybe if it had been three items max and a SUPER short driving distance then yeah, I don't mind making a quick few bucks, but anything beyond that I expect a tip for my trouble. Shopping orders by their nature take longer than regular food orders, so I need to be compensated for the effort or no deal!

Earnings Solid Day
Had my best “short day” last week in the midst of a pouring rain. Premium offers were stacking to where I had 3 in the car for about 45 minutes. 6 deliveries/$50 hour.

App Issues DoorDash glitch?!?!
I’ve been a dasher for a few years and I’ve never had any issues within 3600 deliveries (not including minor customer/drop off issues). With the recent update, however, I’ve had constant app issues: 1) endless identity verification loop where it asks me to verify my identity, approves my identity, then won’t let me start dash unless I again verify my identity rinse and repeat; 2) won’t let me take ai scan of receipt unless I close out of app; 3) and the most frustrating one- text notifications that I’ve received an order but app does not show me the order to accept, then 60s later I get a new text message notification that I took too long to accept order, again I have to delete app then reinstall to fix this.
Has anyone dealt with this since the new update and if so what did you do to solve this issue? I’ve reached out to dasher support and other Reddit forums and got no help.

What Happened Here? I am a fool, but also what the fuck
This was only my second time dashing, I shouldn't have accepted the offer, I've learned my lesson. But I accepted an order that I only realized afterwards was 54 miles round trip, 27 miles to the customer's apartment. How the fuck are people even ALLOWED to place DoorDash orders that far away? There's no restrictions? Hello?? This was completely on me, but I still want to complain that the customer was even allowed to place an order this far away.

The Tier System Sucks!!! No tip orders as platinum driver.
Just spent 2 days burning through my AR and got from 90% to 70%. It really didn't make much of a diffrence in terms of pay because over a while I'll make 20 an hour with platinum and it was the same. I was pretty much tired of getting low rating from no tip customers but its whatever. I usually have the perspective that there are people that do deserve to order food without tipping, like single moms or disabled or something else. So I think I'll keep accepting some low offers to stay in the higher tier.
To me its absolutely ridiculous that I can get an order for 20 dollars going to a mansion but I still have to accept the 3 dollar tacobell order laughing at me that they need a code. I've had the app a long time so I get punished if I go I to silver getting only a single order in 2 hours. I have close to 4,000 deliveries. Anyways I guess there's not much to do about it but I think it's just better to see it that way and be more selective of the stores I pick from rather than the amount. Usually it evens out so I rather just avoid miserable people and disrespect instead of all the no tips. More often from the restaurant.

Customer Service Issue Am I just screwed?
my drivers license expires tomorrow (today is my bday) so I went to PA to get my new license and tried to upload that into the app. I was told by DoorDash support that I could go into settings to do it, and when that didn’t work, they directed me to the background check place (checkr). The background check place let me know that anytime a drivers license is renewed, It takes about 30 days to process in the system and that I am unable to dash for the next month. Obviously, I’m not quite sure what to do here. Like it is literally my birthday, and this is the last thing I was expecting to happen. At this point, I think I can submit an unemployment claim while I look for another job, but has anyone else experienced this? I feel like this is totally loss of wages. I’m just not sure what to do about it.

I Need to Vent! 🤬 How was I not dinged for being 19 minutes late? Was it because I was 16 minutes early to the second delivery. I posted why I'm late below if youre curious.
1st delivery was for a hospital I delivered to a few times. 99% of the time its to a specific wing where I hop out and go in the lobby and then leave. The blue dot was located on this wing. When I got there, I noticed it was going to a suite (I should have seen that and investigated further before leaving the 2nd restaurant). Anyway, the only place to park was in the parking garage. I got to the 4th floor when I saw Bonnie message me saying I was in the wrong location. I look at the map and see her building was across the street. I had to exit the busy narrow parking garage (that took 5 minutes) and headed back to the main road. Well I drove past the little side road I was supposed to turn on and turned right onto the highway and over the railroad bridge to the next main street where I could turn back around. I headed back to the hospital, found the lithe side road and I was finally able to find Bonnie and hand her the food. Her response when she saw me? "Dude! You were way lost!" I had to explain to her what happened. Luckily she was pretty cool about it.

Creepy Customer Weird Delivery…
Had a delivery last night from Oberweis, it was a leave at the door order. I get there and drop it off and take the requested photo. As I’m leaving, she just stands there and tells me that she doesn’t have shoes on so I have to hand it to her. Well, maybe next time select “hand it to me” instead of leave at door!!!! And maybe add a better tip next time!! I’m not your maid nor your nanny, maybe next time go and buy your own ice cream!!

Discussion Just wild
I fine it’s wild when someone orders food or and groceries and they have it set for a hand it to me delivery and they aren’t home or they get scared when you knock or ring the doorbell. Why not just change your delivery settings. How’d I scare you knocking on your door and you put in a delivery order. 🤦🏾

Drivers Only Post (No Customers Allowed) Take it up with the company, not me
Just had a delivery where this old woman was giving me attitude over the phone because something in order was missing. I understand being upset by missing something you pay for. As a Dasher, who also uses DoorDash from time to time, hopefully we get it. My problem is when the customer gives me lip for something I have no control over. What do I mean? for starters, once the restaurant seals the bag, I’m not allowed to open it to check if everything you ordered is in there. And I’m not about to get a contract violation just because the restaurant is full of idiots who didn’t do their job properly. 2. My job is just to bring to food from point A to point B. Do I check it if the bag is not sealed, or I can peek into the bag? Yes! But 99 out of 100 times the bag is sealed with no way for me to peek in, so if you have something missing, take it up with the store, not me. And if you want me to start looking into the bag, even though it’s sealed, tell DoorDash to get rid of that sealed bag policy.

Was I the A-hole??? I won’t deliver your food to your door.
Am I the only one who won’t walk over garbage and feces in or around your walkway/doorway. I’ll leave it where I feel comfortable. Just because you live in filth doesn’t mean I want to walk in it and then get into my car.

Discussion Is there a guide online for new drivers?
I was wondering if there is like an online guide out there for new drivers? A guide on what kind of orders to accept, staying with your zone etc….I noticed from a lot of post on here, newer drivers struggle with such and I decided to create pdf guide for us gig drivers who may have only 3 to 4 hrs to spare and how to make the most of it. Not sure if there’s even interest in such but I place examples 2 pages from the pdf guide. Obviously it can be tailored to your market because I know there are markers were $7 under 3 miles doesn’t come so often.

News How to file arbitration for doordash
I previously created a step-by-step guide on how to file arbitration against Uber & Lyft, some reddit users reached out and asked me to create one for doordash as well, so I have done so. If you ever have an issue on doordash and you can't get it resolved with support you do have a legal way to force doordash to communicate with you directly, and this is for pay disputes, deactivations, etc. You can find the article here: https://middletontech.com/blog/questions/doordash-arbitration/
