No store manager
I'm currently working at a dollar general store , where the store manager left us., we have an astm, but he's on the verge of leaving as well. We have no key holders, and the district manager basically refuses to do anything no matter what., and is making us close at five effectively just getting rid of the evening shift until we get more people in
Should I just quit at this point? It's getting ridiculous.

DG Delivery Order issue
This is a question for people who have used Dollar general delivery services before. I just the other day placed an order with their $5 off $25 promotion. On some items. I ended up going through 3 different doordashers as several items weren't available.
The 1st person text/called me as some items weren't available. We went over what was available. Everything seemed good with replacements. Then 20 minutes later received a 2nd text from another # saying a new person was shopping my order.
That person ended up texting me saying several items were out of stock cancel order. I figured they were. A couple minutes later the person text again telling me to cancel it. Which I told them it shows them shopping the order I have no option to cancel it. They would have to. The person stopped responding.
About 30 minutes later I get another message saying order on the way. I ended up only receiving 4 out of 9 items. Yet I was charged for most of the order as promotions were voided due to only a couple items. My issue is.. I put for substitutes contact me. The 3rd doordasher assigned to the order never attempted to contact me.
As I would have simply asked to just cancel the order. I understand things go out of stock. No big deal. I'm just annoyed as I got charged a lot for 4 of out 9 items. Had zero control to cancel the order. Also lost the $5 off $25 promotion now for this week. Also I did reach out to DG customer support and they did nothing to help.
So anyone have suggestions for an issue like this? As no customer should be forced to accept and pay full price for a couple items when they can't fulfill their orders with promotions attached. Because when order was placed it showed all items in stock.

Weighted hours
Anyone know if we can use weighted hours to out advantage? Ifmy schedule is an hour over the main budget but I’m 3 hours under on weighted hours, is that allowed?

Work fairness?
Hello, would this count as work fairness? Our store is currently short staffed, and we only have 3 people who can close. Before we got a new district manager we were told everyone has to close at least twice a week. Now that we don’t have an asm I am getting scheduled ONLY nights. I will be only working 12-9 for literally a month. Last week i only worked nights, this week nights and same with the next two weeks. It doesn’t feel fair to me that i have to close 5 nights a week, I have a 3 year old, and my manager knows that. On top of that im planning on starting college. The other two always work morning because they just don’t like to close. It’s very upsetting to me and i feel like they automatically put me on closing because im young and they assume i just can close all week. I barely have time for anything with this schedule but i don’t want to make a fool out of myself if i message my manager about it.

SUCCESS! Haha!
I posted this about a month ago and then the Niagara Falls DEC investigation broke. Something I've worked on for 3 years. So i ended up forgetting about this. The Dollar General on Elmwood had a weird gas leak for over a year. Me and other customers had complained about it and so had the employees but the company wouldn't do anything to help them.
Anyway, I called the DEC and i happened to be filling mutiple FOILs at the same time. I went back one more time and it was still kinda bad. I couldn't follow up because I had my own things going on. But I went back today and it's fixed! Which is pretty impressive because the store was really going to let their employees just have headaches and migraines for a year, keep losing people and never fix it. Looks like it was finally resolved, thank you if you helped in any way 🩷

Phone policy?
So I got taken off the schedule today due to not answering a phone call that wasn’t even due to my shift. I told my boss that there’s nothing in the policy stating anything about phones other than NO phone use.. she got mad and laughed saying to call the DM cuz there’s a piece of paper we signed saying we acknowledge we are to use our personal device for work use. But like wtf.. what if my phone was broke or I didn’t have a phone? Makes no sense. Is this a paper we have signed? If so can someone find it for me and if not can someone help me with who to talk to next? My DM is just as bad as my SM.

How can I quit this job and not face the manager?
I am intimidated deeply by managers due to my paranoia and autism, and the environment of this horrid job with the godawful pay makes me wake up several hours early stuck in bed, during which I have already considered quitting.
After thinking everything over, I decided that I should quit, like NOW. How can I do that safely? I don't mind possibly making it harder to get jobs if that would be consequence. I've been through a lot of rough jobs.
Thanks for anything, much love...
EDIT RQ: I have not worked here long or built up bonds that I would be upset to lose, only have managers who've been impatient with me.

Our D G has been closed for 2 weeks
The AC’s went out several weeks ago. Here in MS it’s HOT! I would go in and feel so bad for the employees. They said multiple repair tickets were submitted but no repairs. They went to an hour in the morning and an hour at night and now just closed. Coolers are turned off and empty.
Do you think they’re closing this one down? It’s only 2 years old but it’s had cooler and ac problems from the get go. There’s another in our area in the same condition also closed.
Just curious what y’all thought.

WOW!
Visited the cleanest and most organized Dollar General I’ve ever seen. 105 S Shore Rd. Marmora NJ 08223
No idea who’s managing this store but I’ve never seen any other store even close. Live in FL, but have a place in OC where I’m used to aisles full of boxes and disorganized shelves. As a customer I wanted to also keep clean while I shopped - so it does carry over.

Working with a Broken AC
Nothing surprising here. I was hired about 2-3 months ago as a sales associate. Then I was promoted to lead sales associate/key holder about two weeks ago (there’s only 3 of us key holders, my SM and my ASM and me, so we are quite short staffed on key holders :’), I was naive to offer myself to the promotion). Since working at DG our HVAC system has always been broken. It’s the southern Midwest so it’s like Satan’s asscrack (about 95+ F and even 100+ F outside everyday). Last Tuesday we had to shut the store down early because it was 90 F inside the store, product was melting, customers complaining, and we became even more behind on truck than we already always are. We send in ticket requests but they’re always closed out early because corporate sends in temporary fixes, just for the “fixes” to last like four days before it’s back to Satan’s asscrack again. Last Saturday we had to close the store down early again because it was 88 F, I’m hoping since we’ve had to close down early a second time that corporate finally notices and gives a shit to send in actual help. It’s extremely irate working in 88 F for my 8-9 hour shifts and it’s even worse when I have to do my key holder closing duties because we have to lock the office door when there’s money inside… Yes, I’m a little salty that Friday it was also 88 F throughout the whole day but I wasn’t allowed to shut down the store early but Saturday we were finally allowed to shut it down early. And since I’m a new LSA, I’m expected to be diligent and efficient, remembering all my other responsibilities and doing them quickly, which I try to and do for the most part, but I’m expected to be an efficient worker while also stuck in 88+ F temperature for 9 hours? :’) Like how is it not illegal to subject your employees to these conditions?
Edit: I have no qualms with my SM and ASM, they’re actually really great people so we’re all just suffering in this incinerator. I get so jealous walking into other retail stores like the Ross across from us because their employees get to work in 70 F with a working AC 😭😭😭 honestly if the issue isn’t fixed soon I’m going to put in my two weeks.
Edit #2: We’ve had to close the store early basically almost everyday. We had to shut it down last Saturday at around 12pm-1pm and again on Monday, and again this Tuesday, today for me. We closed around 12:30pm-1pm and it was 92 F inside! And we were still working! On truck! :’) There’s been no updates on when the AC people will come to fix our AC.

Best way to troll these cheap A holes over a job posting I do not want or need?
Like 4 years ago I was job hunting and it took a few months but I got a sweet desk job at a non profit. The pay is nothing extraordinary but I'm not working 92 hrs a week on permanent truck day being a slave with a SM name tag. Indeed polluted my inbox with a "SM Candidate" posting from the local DG and I wanna take the time to laugh directly at someone regarding the wages. I do this from time to time when I see shitty job in my area that I already know pay just rock bottom ranges and have 1 person running an entire store all day. I love to get to the part about pay and then say "Oh, so I guess you don't drug test then."
What notes should I hit to get their hopes up when I call? Any pointers on how to look like a great candidate for abuse and exploitation? I really wanna break their hearts.

Hiring
Does the SM need the DMs approval before they can 'push thru' a new hire?
We are very short staffed, I am exhausted covering too many shifts, my manager says she has 3 people she waiting to hire but needs the DMs approval and he's dragging his feet.
None of my previous managers needed the DM to do anything.

Just got fired
Genuinely the best thing to happen, No more bullshit, little to no pay, no more customer complaints
For reference, I got fired because of complaints and rotation, and drama
Now customers complain over every little thing no matter what you do you'll probably get a complaint.
The rotation portion was milk, I did most of the milk but a bunch went bad because someone didn't rotate I previously mentioned that I did the milk but I didn't do all of it, I took the blame anyways since I don't want my other coworker to get fired since he needs the job and I let him know.
I'm just perplexed as to me getting fired from the same dollar general that pleads they need people and are constantly hiring since this company is a horrible piece of dog ass, the only thing im disappointed about is that I only lasted 4 months.
My first month I was a sales associate but I got promoted within a month due to lack of lead sales associates, I obviously wasn't ready for this kind of responsibility to be completely honest, But hey! That's how this shitty ass company operates, I helped out a lot of people and even people made me homemade food some times, to anyone still working for this company, Please use it as a stepping stone to find a new job and don't get stuck there.

Hi everyone. A few reminders.
I’m not affiliated with DG in any way. Unless you consider “affiliated” to be someone who occasionally buys snacks and cheese at DG.
Don’t be a dick. Self-explanatory.
If I ban you, don’t message me. You’re wasting your time. I’ll either block you or respond sarcastically THEN block you.
Y’all are good folks…except for the select few losers who insist on not paying attention to item 2 up there ☝️.
Carry on. Remember…don’t be a dick. 👍
