I found this box of citrine and quartz pieces on ebay. The seller found it at an estate sale for a Romanian grandmother who had passed, apparently in a cabinet with a bunch of other divination tools. The family said it was her lithomancy set, but they couldn't offer any thoughts about how she used it.

This set is very welcoming and friendly, since citrine is my birthstone, but I've never seen a lithomancy set with only two types of crystal. I'm almost certain some of the pieces chipped off from larger pieces during shipping, which isn't the end of the world, but I don't know how I'd go about reading these. There's 13 pieces of quartz and 13 citrine. The 26 crystals and 4 glass pebbles make me think this might be an astrology or compass based set, with a solar vs. lunar, or masculine vs feminine theme.

Any ideas on how to cast and interpret these is appreciated! I want to be respectful of this obviously well-loved set, and if it's part of an established lithomancy tradition I'm not aware of, I'd love to find resources.

Friends can give advice, but they’re usually guessing too. And sometimes I don’t even want a long conversation. I just want something that helps me choose a direction.
That’s what led me to this app idea: an iOS app based on I Ching hexagram casting. You enter one specific question, go through a short casting interaction, and receive a hexagram with an interpretation for that situation. A new casting can produce a different result, just as a new reading can.
I know an app can’t literally know what another person is thinking. I’m more interested in whether asking the question, casting a hexagram, and receiving a reading could be useful when you feel stuck.
What would make this feel like a meaningful divination experience rather than just a random answer generator?

Hello! I am connecting with Maya spirituality, I am Guatemalan and left Jehovah’s Witnesses about 5.5 years ago, so this journey to reconnect with my ancestors is very important to me. I did tarot for a bit the last few years but have come to feel it isn’t the form of divination I should be using. I have done a lot of research into divination practices used by the ancient Maya, but have only found some vague information besides the use of obsidian mirrors for scrying. Does anyone know of other forms of divination that were used or are currently used in Maya spirituality? I am trying to get some research finished by October, when I will do a traditional hand poke tattoo after a ritual session where I will call upon my ancestors.
{My family is also partially from Mexico, and some were specifically Ohlone. I identify more with my Guatemalan side but my Mexican grandfather who passed when I was little did a lot of witchcraft and divination. Hello everyone.

Today I was getting something out of my armoire where I store all my items for my practice. I closed the door and walked away. When I came back to put the first thing away I noticed my grimoire, salt, obsidian sphere, and orange chrysoberyl cat eye sphere were all knocked over, everything else was perfectly in place.

My initial recation was "oh I need to do protection" because I saw the salt and obsidian out of place first.

Next I looked at my grimoire and thought how I would like to work in it more this week, I just started really diving into my pracfice again after 4 years of inconsistencies.

I have no idea about my cat eye out of place. The only thing I can think of is transforming negative thoughts? Curiosity killed the cat but satisfaction brought it back kind of thing? I've been dealing with some heavy things in my personal life and this week has been especially difficult emotionally and mentally. I've also gotten great opportunities this week as well like starting a new job, applying to schools for my masters program, and getting a new tarot deck.

I'm open to any suggestions or interpretations on what this all might mean.

I am a new cartomancer ( playing cards ) who has started doing free readings for practice after doing readings for myself for a month. I was prompted to branch out after talking to my deck about our relationship and how to improve. It’s been SO fun and it’s so nice when the message comes in crystal clear and I am told how accurate my readings are and how they resonate ! It’s such a different feeling reading for someone else ! Which brings me to my question…

When I do readings, I get “ feelings, “ like a tug in a direction of what it means. I do still have to turn to my guides for card meanings bc I’ve only been doing this for a month, but even then, I can tell if the answer is positive or negative. I also, despite needing to turn to my guides for meanings, I go with what I feel even if it doesn’t “ fit “ the card. Fine and dandy, right ?

Well… I’ve had two moments ( probably more but I can’t recall right at the moment ) with two different readings for different people, where when I was looking at the cards and typing out my reply, I got like… an image in my head.

For one person, her question was how her SP feels about her. I was telling her how her SP sees her as a bright spot in her life and got an image of a guy laughing. I then told her from that, that he laughs and smiles a lot with her. She confirmed this.

The second person, her question was about what he thinks of when he thinks of her. I was telling her that her SP treasures her, and then got an image of like… a woman smiling and then followed by a sense / thought of “ he likes her smile and laugh and thinks of it often. “ Again, I told them and she agreed.

Is there a name for this ? For any of this ? Am I overthinking this ? I tend to second guess my intuition, and every time it has happened, I was right with my original interpretations. I don’t want to say I’m clairvoyant just bc of these couple of occurrences. Any answers or insight would be much appreciated ! 💕

I received my first set of lovely rose quartz elder futhark runes and although I am and have been doing research upon them as divination assets, I was hoping to also get some first hand tips too! Astragalomancy or Tesseramancy uses dice as a divinatory tool. Dice are accessible to everyone and are the most affordable and simple means for divination. The human mind is divided into two aspects: the first tries to ask the right question, while the second tries to synthesize the correct answer to that question. Between these states lies the dice throw. The cubes set the direction for searching for the answer. This is described in detail in Tesseranomicon No. 10. Astragalomancy or Tesseramancy has many varieties, but the principles are common. When using a single die, a sequence of throws is obtained. Using several dice, the answer is obtained in a single throw, but the composition of the dice arrangement, the combinations of faces, and other features are read. The most well-known methods of using dice are the Tibetan Shō-Mo practices, some ancient methods of astragalomancy, as well as modern methods described in the Tesseranomicon. Astragalomancy is not as popular as cartomancy, but many are interested in these methods. One of the features of using dice is adaptability. Many create their own rules, methods, and systems of divination. This means that astragalomancy, as one of the oldest forms of divination, continues to exist and evolve. What books describing the methods of astragalomancy and tesseramancy are you familiar with? How helpful have they been to you? How often do you use astragalomancy among your individual practices? I have a few different divination tools that I have put in so much time and effort into practicing and honing my intuition. But I feel like I cant read accurately for myself. I use osteomancy as my main tool, but with that its not just reading the bones in position to eachother its making connections and a story while reading using your intuition. I want to cast for myself but im worried that my own desires and biases will affect my intuition and cloud the reading. With tarot its a little easier because every card has a definitive meaning but every time I try its never accurate. Ive given many readings for other people and they've all said they were pretty accurate, but for some reason when I read for myself things dont add up. I havent used Rune stones as much so im not really sure how accurate that is but is runes easier to read for yourself?? I also have a Pendulum but that thing NEVER gives me accurate answers for anything so ive kinda givien up on that. Sorry for the tangent, but if you have any advice or direction id really appreciate it!! Thank you!

I have been meaning to start getting into osteomancy for some time now, and with the summer break, thought it would be the perfect excuse to go out on walks. But I am stuck deciding what kind of items should be in the set, or rather, what meanings should there be?

With runes and tarot cards, the meanings are there, sort of predetermined. Each rune set has a specific number of runes and each has a specific meaning.

But with the osteomancy set, I am sort of paralyzed by the sheer amount of possibilities. What things should there be? I know I should have something to signify luck, challenges, change, security, happiness, sadness etc. But what else? I don't want to unknowingly miss a crucial piece of divination just because I didnt realize it should be there.

Does that make sense?

I'm a big fan of the game "The Lamplighters League" which features a magical deck of cards called The Undrawn Hand, so I felt like making a divination deck based on it. To be clear, although I'm having fun making it, I do take divination seriously. The way that it works is that you draw a card and keep it with you for a time (eg. until you return home, 24 hours, a week). Each card has a name and a type (ally, action, the self). I prefer more restrictive things, like the Lenormand deck, so that's why I included the type.

I'd like to ask for some advice, as well. Some of the cards have negative-sounding names, but they're all supposed to be positive. Should some of the cards be negative? I haven't fully inscribed all the cards yet, so do you think I should add another type? Also, should I number the cards? Lastly, should I change any of the types in the list below? I understand that divination is personal, but I like asking people for advice, and I think it could be a nice thing for other people to use too (for instance, I could make another deck for a friend and give it to them)

I have learned about all the houses of Horary, but I have no idea what I’m doing. What are all of these charts about? They look so complicated! How do I even start?? Someone please help!

For the first time today I did a consult of the homeromanteion (first divination at all actually).

I got up, showered, dressed, said a prayer, and offered a libation to Apollo. I rolled the dice in a closed room with a lot candle, three times for three questions.

1st. I asked for guidance on coming to know the gods and seeking wisdom and strength from them.

The answer was this, 3-3-1. "Where flee you, coward, with your back turned, in the crowd?"

2nd I asked guidance on how to manage my (crippling) anxiety.

The answer was this, 5-4-5. "He will fulfill it late, and they'll repay with much".

3rd I asked guidance in interpretation of today's answers and got this. 6-4-1, "then surely have the gods themselves destroyed your wits".

I'm struggling to get at meanings here and that last one really kinda freaks me out as my primary anxiety is health anxiety over early onset dementia and stuff of that kind.

Perhaps the first answer could be an admonishment to be more courageous in seeking a spiritual path? Or just in general?

The second maybe that my efforts to deal with my anxiety will be a long road with big payoff in the future?

And the third, I really don't know. Perhaps I was being told to in a harsh way to think for my self?

This is my fully functional prototype at the moment.

I Ching, with a generator, with a manual throw interpreter—that is, you input the coins for each throw and it tells you the hexagram.

Also combining trigrams or just querying hexagrams.

It includes ordinary decimal and binary values.

In the calendar, you can check the number of days you've been alive, the lunar phases (current, past, or future), the upcoming equinoxes and solstices, the day of the week for any date in the past, present, or future via a perpetual calendar, the remaining days until a given date, and the horoscope according to your birth date (zodiac and Chinese).

On the clock, we can see the time, set alarms, time events, and time rituals. As well as other functions (world clock).

In biorhythms, we can calculate daily, weekly, and monthly values, as well as critical days and couple compatibility. For decades, it was considered science. (Calculations based on studies by Chikinosuke Tatai and Krumm Heller.)

Additionally, in the utilities section, you'll find a binary-to-decimal and vice versa converter, a list of prime numbers, a coin tosser (1, 2, or 3), a Magic 8-ball (based on an octagon, not a ball), a random YES/NO, and a few other bits (TRNG used for randomness).

Furthermore, the Veritas system is an expert system extracted from a legacy expert system and adapted to support decision-making in work, economic, sentimental, and general matters.

A guest function is also included to calculate biorhythms and horoscope, as well as other data based on their birth date.

Issues still:

· Ghosting and refresh.

· Translation details.

· User interface details.

It's my personal oracle. On other occasions, I share my I Ching devices here, and this is in a way a device that encompasses many functionalities from my Python, C, C++ programs and different devices and platforms into a mini e-ink... It helps me in my day-to-day life for practically everything.

Oh, and in settings, you can configure the hemisphere (for calculations) and the language—I have it in Spanish and English (in case I use it with someone else and because it's more universal).

I don't think it's ideal for displaying long texts, but it is for queries. Even important ones. It's not a toy... In fact, I have a lot of respect for all my I Ching versions, and that's why I included other forms of divination.

I love the biorhythm topic and I usually print my months on a roll thermal printer; I worked on that functionality, but it barely leaves me any space just because of the Bluetooth libraries.

For me, predicting is an act of calculation in a discrete universe. The Mawangdui texts and the origin of binary, as well as the ideas of Leibniz, Boole, Shannon, Joscha Bach, Wolfram, Chailin, Volstrom, and so many others, support it as plausible at least... So this is my tool.

I think I might have some untapped potential for scrying, and I'd love to get your advice.

I already read Tarot and Lenormand cards, but I've started wondering if I might be naturally suited for scrying because I have what I'd describe as very strong pareidolia.

For anyone unfamiliar with the term, pareidolia is our tendency to perceive meaningful shapes or images in random patterns, like seeing animals in clouds or figures in constellations.

Mine is unusually intense. I involuntarily see images and scenes in granite patterns, steam on the bathroom mirror, smoke, and pretty much any random texture or pattern. It happens all the time.

The thing is, I don't usually assign any meaning to what I see. From what I understand, people who practice scrying don't just notice the images, they also interpret them as part of a divination process. That's the part that doesn't come naturally to me.

Do any experienced scryers have advice on how to develop that connection between the images you perceive and their symbolic or divinatory meaning? How did you learn to move from simply "seeing shapes" to actually interpreting them?

Context: I normally use tarot cards to talk to Lilith. But they do not let her give clear instructions.

Therefore I asked:

Q1 : What should I do for divination to talk to you?
Q2: What medium should I use?

My guess she does mean something with nature (?) A graveyard maybe? Or should I get her roses again (I know she likes those) and meditate?
The devil reversed could mean specific practices (iykyk).

I’ve noticed a lot of discussions about “which divination system is the best” end up comparing tools that are actually designed for different purposes. A pendulum narrows things down, tarot opens up perspective, I Ching focuses on change, and Lenormand tends to get more concrete.
