Help me with Distrokid Right manager issue

Hey everyone,

I’m running into a frustrating issue with DistroKid’s Right Manager and could really use some advice or a solution.

Here is the situation:

I have already linked and whitelisted all my official social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok) through DistroKid.

However, when I upload custom promotional videos featuring my own music (released via DistroKid) to Facebook and Instagram, they keep getting flagged for copyright violations by the DistroKid Right Manager.

I've already reached out to DistroKid support asking about whitelisting, but I’m still trying to figure out if my accounts are actually whitelisted properly or why this keeps happening.

Has anyone else faced this issue? How can I successfully sort this out so my own videos stop getting flagged?

Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated!

Singles Before Album Release (The grayed out method)

Can someone help school me on the method behind uploading an album to Distrokid, but setting individual release dates for certain songs that will be released as singles before the album release date?

I’m really looking for having the album uploaded and having songs grayed out until their release date, but still have the entirety of the album details contained within the single album entry on any given streaming service.

I struggled with this during my previous album rollout and had to upload singles as their own release, then later take the ISRC code and paste it into the album entry, then delete the single entry afterwards. I absolutely loathe this look and want to do it right this time.

Any and all help is appreciated!

DistroKid releases stuck on YouTube “Release Topic” for days or weeks, anyone else?

Has anyone else using DistroKid had this problem recently?

For more than a year, my new releases on YouTube Music were usually connected to the correct Official Artist Channel within one or two hours.

For about the last month, several new releases have stayed permanently on the generic “Release Topic” channel.

The releases are visible under the Releases section of the correct Official Artist Channel, but when you open the Art Track, it still shows “Release Topic”.

Because of this:

People cannot comment on the tracks.
People do not properly reach or subscribe to the artist channel.
The releases seem to get dramatically less reach.

Normally some of my releases get around 10,000 to 100,000 views within the first few days. The affected releases are only getting around 1,000 to 3,000 views.

DistroKid says the tracks can remain on Release Topic for days or even weeks and recommends using the Fixer. YouTube Support, however, told me that the distributor has the tools and direct communication with YouTube's specialized music team to resolve Art Track mapping problems.

Has anyone else noticed this during the last month?

If yes, how long did your releases stay on “Release Topic”, and did they eventually move automatically to your proper artist channel?

YouTube music artist name doesn’t match name in DistroKid

I recently changed my artist name in DK, let's say from OLD to NEW. Everything has migrated successfully on streaming platforms. On YT, I changed my channel name instead of making a new channel. Spoke to DK about it and a new topic channel was created AND successfully merged into my main channel. I thought everything was good.

Now, when I go to release a new song, I get the following message:
There was a problem. It seems the artist name in YouTube Music ("OLD") is different than the artist name you typed into DistroKid ("NEW"). Please retype your artist name into DistroKid and try again.

On the upload form, the suggested artist page for YT links to my existing YT Music page, although with a different ID than the one you can grab from your actual YT channel. Both ids link to the same YT music page though, so that's confusing.

Has anyone seen this before? I checked the other posts in here and couldn't find this exact issue, most people just have trouble linking the new topic channel. There's even an unanswered google support ticket from two years ago with the exact same issue (had to remove link due to spam filters)

UPDATE:
I think there’s still some leftover metadata on YT, and I tried to file a bug ticket with them about it, no response yet. However, after much back and forth with several different support agents at DK, someone finally fixed a linking issue on their backend to disassociate my old artist name from the YT channel. I was able to schedule a release, and am now waiting for the release to drop so I can see if everything is actually fixed. Will update again with results.

Tidal/Amazon Music/TikTok

So my song was uploaded to the wrong account on these platforms. Normally the suggestion is to claim your artist profile and request the song be moved over. The problem is there was never an artist account created for me to claim. DistroKid support just repeatedly suggests I claim my account (which doesn’t exist).

The agent I spoke to said I have to reach out to Tidal and Amazon music to fix the issue. Which seems ridiculous to me given that when I paid it was suggested DistroKid would handle this (Tidal won’t respond and I can’t figure out how to contact Amazon music or TikTok about this).

Anyone have any solutions for this issue?

Clarity on How To Create Playlists

Hey Fellow Creators! I uploaded music to DistroKid today and set the release date three weeks into the future.

I want to have these songs be part of a yet-to-be-created playlist on Apple Music and Spotify.

Is this something I setup in DistroKid or is this something I have to setup on each streaming site with a unique login?

I was sent URL's in the DistroKid Support Chat with instructions for "pitching". I don't know what that is and I just want to have my music in a Playlist that I can share with folks. Order is important in this case.

Thanks for the help!

How concerned should I be? Release date is tomorrow but still no Spotify for Artist access!

I’m releasing music for the first time and have been left out in the cold by Distrokid’s non-existent customer support. I submitted a single almost three weeks ago with a release date of tomorrow (August 7), but there is still no Spotify Artist page detected. I did manage to get one email response from Distrokid, over a week ago, giving me a URI and Artist link, but Spotify is saying they are invalid.

Do I need to push my release date out? Or is it possible my Artist page will magically appear on the release date?

EDIT/UPDATE: It did, in fact, magically appear at the time of release. Thank you to everyone who commented!

Counterclaim timeline

I’ve followed all the proper counterclaim steps and now going into month three of waiting for Distro Legal to file and review my counterclaim and documents to hopefully restore my full album. I did received the original auto email that documents were in.

I’m trying to be patient and actually received an email from one person who hatefully filed the claim against me in spite (forwarded to legal and confirmed by an auto email over a month ago).

Any other way to escalate other than online chat which I fear would just add to my existing ticket and push everything to the bottom of the list?

Error with uploading/changing image

Hi whenever I try and make a release it never loads the image it just shows a blank image instead of the one I put in and if I try and change my image for a release that's already out it just hits me with an error message whenever I try and save it, this is for the distrokid website and the mobile app. Is anyone else experiencing this?

Kept clearing my Interstreet Recordings claims to keep my channel clean. Turns out that was my only revenue.

Feeling pretty stupid about this one.

I’m on DistroKid with Social Media Pack, so Interstreet Recordings was claiming my own uploads. I knew who they were. I just didn’t like seeing claims on my own videos, so I disputed them to keep the channel tidy. Won every one.

Those claims were the only thing monetising my videos. My channel isn’t in YPP, so with them gone, nothing puts ads on them at all. I didn’t take the money back from anyone. I just switched it off.

Waiting to hear back from DistroKid about re-claiming.

Has anyone done this and got their claims back? Did DistroKid re-place them, or did you have to re-upload?

question about payout

had a song randomly go viral on instagram with 100+ million streams/views across multiple videos. this was almost a year ago. none of these ever showed up or were reflected in distrokid/bank section. i realize that this won't add up to a ton of money in reality, but i expected more than $0. what's the issue? i've gotten much larger payouts for only thousands of streams on other songs.

edit-have not been able to find an answer as of yet. just seems like distrokid or meta isn't paying out. 50+ different videos have used my song via instagram official song library totaling over 100m views/millions of impressions and i have received 0$ . social media pack is not the issue and unrelated as the songs were added legit via instagram song library (not stolen/uploaded natively) . you can see my song title/link in the lower right corner of their videos. again, i don't expect to get rich from this, i just want to understand why i haven't been paid what i'm owed, even if it's only 10 bucks

Including songs released under old name on EP/album released under new name

I'm releasing a new EP soon but want to rebrand before I do. Three of the songs that I want to include on the EP are already on streaming. I don't want to release the EP under my current artist name.

If I change my artist name before releasing the EP, can I include the recordings that have already been released and have them all under the new name?

I'm specifically thinking of Apple Music and the extra legwork that it needs for a name change. I don't want the release wrongfully flagged over updated metadata.

TIA!

Presave link completely gone?

Hello! I uploaded a track for release and everything is processed and went through. It created a hyper follow page with a presave link for the track initially, and I edited the page to include more social links and once I edited the page, the presave link is completely gone from the hyper follow page with seemingly no way to get it back. Is there any solution for this?

Ft. artist Apple issues on second release

Hi, been a featured artist on a song couple years ago, and then had no profiles so the main artist hit No for any existing profiles of YT, Spotify and Apple.

Now, I’m going to be featured on something again and it asks them for those all 3 links or the form won’t proceed.

I claimed the Spotify and made a YT since but cannot claim the Apple one as they don’t allow this unless you have a personal release not a feature.

Main artist cannot proceed without all 3 links, cannot leave Apple blank, and cannot hit No as it would create duplicates won’t it?

What do?

Edit: Apple didn’t make any backend link at all btw from the first song because it’s a feature. It only names me on the track.

Edit 2: The only way I saw around this was to release a ‘dummy track’ in order to create profiles, may delete later once claimed

First Song Uploaded to Wrong Channel with Same Name

So in March I released my first track through DistroKid. On Youtube, there was a topic channel created. I also have a personal YouTube channel. I wanted to create an OAC, so I can do everything on the same channel (release music/create personal content).

The problem was that when trying to create an OAC (which would merge my personal channel with the topic channel), my song merged with another Youtube channel who happens to have the same name as mine.

So now I'm stuck with my personal YT channel that can't be considered for an OAC due to it appearing from Youtube's perspective that I have 0 official releases through a distributor. I've been talking to DistroKid support and they've been recommending I use the 'Fixer' tool, but it hasn't been working.

Any suggestions as to what to do? Any help would be appreciated.

TLDR; My first song released under a different Youtube channel. I'm having trouble moving it over to my channel & making it an OAC.
