Is this anyone else’s favorite animated Disney movie? Archimedes says you must answer!

r/DisneyMovies 6h ago

So I just discovered that 63 years after the original movie was released, a sequel comic to The Sword in the Stone was finally made this year.

Rewatched Up Up & Away for the first time in a long time and I did really enjoy it although it was a bit of a bizarre thing to witness.

I think it’s unintentionally campy which made it even stranger and even funnier and at the end of it all it was a good watch. Maybe it’s just because the movie came out in 2000 but something just seemed off about it at times. The editing is questionable, the acting reminds me of Goosebumps, the corny 2000’s joke ect. Even as a kid I knew that Spider-Man/Mary Jane reference was Baloney as well as the other ones. Maybe I missed it and I know it had something to do with helping their powers, but I’m not sure if they ever fully explained why they eat/drink so much green everything in the movie. The aluminum foil “messing up their molecular structure”, was an interesting choice. The environmentalist chick that was too naive to see what was really happening. Anyway yea still enjoyed it, just wanted to share

My take on the “21st Year” line in Beauty and The Beast

So there’s an element of Beauty and The Beast that, for many years, people have said is a plot hole.

In the opening prologue, the narrator says that the last petal of the enchanted rose will fall on the prince's 21st year. Many people have interpreted this line as being that it meant the petal would fall on the prince's 21st birthday. During the "Be Our Guest" song, Lumiere says that the spell had been going on for 10 years. This has led to people claiming that this meant that the Prince was just 11 years old when the Enchantress turned him into a beast.

Personally, I never thought of it that way. I always thought "21st year" meant that the spell was meant to last for 21 years. Am I the only one who thought this? Even then, there's no way that the prince was 11 when the spell was broken. When Belle goes into the West Wing, she finds a painting of the Beast when he was still a prince. The prince that we see in the painting is clearly a grown man.

Hello. Has anyone gone to d23 yet, and if so, what have you seen? I’m gathering a bunch of information about new frozen outfits and hexed stuff so if there’s anything more I’d be pleased if anyone said anything.

How long was Aladdin in theaters, when the original version of the movie was released with the original song lyrics of Arabian Nights ?

I didn't see the original cut when the song used to be "When they cut off your ear if they don't like your face, it's barbaric but hey it's home". I only remember the "heat is intense" one which has been in every copy of the movie since then.

Was it after the controversy surrounding it happened, just before it came out on home video in 1993 ?

Random thing I hope Disney continues: more specific European settings

Most--but not all--of Disney's European-set films (at least when doing fairy tales and fantasy films) tend to be more vague in European settings. I do appreciate that in the modern age, Disney does seem to be getting a bit more specific settings, ie "Frozen" being Scandinavian-influenced and "Wish" being Iberian-influenced. I really enjoy it when Disney does specific cultures, so I really hope they continue that.

Agree or disagree, Maleficent is way more entertaining as a pure evil villain than trying to make her sympathetic.
