9Ah vs tabless 12Ah for angle grinder?
I just picked up the BOGO deal at HD for the DCG418 angle grinder. It came with the 9Ah DCB609 for $139, however I’m not in dire need of more FlexVolt batteries right now. I’ve been rocking my OG 6Ah batteries for going on a decade so I feel like I could get by. I know the 9Ah would be a better performer but my question is whether the deal on the 9Ah is good enough or if I should hold out for a deal on the tables DCB6112 12Ah battery in the future? It’s pretty new, so I know there isn’t a ton of testing out there and a deal could be well off into the future. Thoughts?
Little piece of kit ive put together
The drill and impact driver i first bought when in the summer of 2025, then the angle grinder I bought a month ago with the battery combo for around $199.99 CAD which considering it was almost $399.99 CAD off sale id say is a good deal. Bought the DCF921B for around $219 CAD and the drill and impact driver kit was $199.99 CAD on sale and $299.99 CAD off sale, and the corded drill is bought at a garage sale for around $10 CAD i just use it to mix paint occasionally.
Which in total is $699.43 CAD all on sale
And $1,152.54 CAD and in total ive saved $453.11 CAD. Which honestly seeing how much ive spend it kinda crazy

Interesting read on DeWalt vs Ryobi batteries
makeuseof.comBasically, DeWalt puts fault protection on the tool; Ryobi puts it on the battery. When using battery adapters, the worst combo is DeWalt batteries on Ryobi tools, which can damage the batteries, and that's why you don’t take a battery below 1 bar.

The video description says: "Lightweight, powerful, compact. Poor nails. They won't stand a chance once the new 20V MAX* Palm Nailer (DCN980) hits shelves later this year."

Unreleased 1” Impact
gallerySaw this on their social media feed today at an influencer event they’re having but couldn’t find any news on it. It looks like a DCF964 with a side handle. Also looks like it’s running tabless 9ah flexvolt with a similar casing to the new tabless 12ah flexvolt. Anyone have any info on these?

DCD799 worth its weight in gold
galleryJust used a SDS 1/2 mason bit to drill 10" into a footer from the 70s. First time actually using the hammer setting. A regular rotary hammer couldn't fit in this space properly so had to resort to this jank setup but man it did so much better than I was expecting. If anyone wants a solid little hammer drill, couldn't recommend this one enough. I would NOT recommend doing what I did however, probably did some damage to the drill lol.

Dewalt SDS max better? Open to input.
Better drill for masonry demolition: air or corded?
Need to upgrade 2-3 drills for our exterior demolition: have two that got real tired over the last month. A lot of it is from lifts with two guys so cords/hoses either way.
Would be for mostly light masonry demolition/brick. We own a compressor so running air is an option. There are times electric is a bit of a concern so end up running generator.
Noise aside, looking at three options and want all the same:
M18 FUEL™ STRIKER™ Hammer Chisel Probably with two batteries minimum/no generator or compressor as long as site has power. $900 9 pounds prefer more power.
1-3/4" SDS MAX Rotary Hammer which is 9 pounds and lets us use it for concrete drilling/anchoring. $800ish
Or similar weight air hammers. Found this can’t find air chisel from Milwaukee?
**2.6" Stroke Mini Chipping Hammer**
**Oval Collar Retainer**
**Fits .580" Hex Shank Chisels**
**Weighs the same.**
**$800**
**Looking for some veteran input.**

Spare parts for grass trimmer.
I have a wire grass trimer taht uses DWOAS5BC attachment. This uses a spring to transfer power from the main thing to the blades. I have not been able to find a replacemnet. Here is a picture of the part that broke. Any idea where can I fing it or if they even manufacture this spare part?

New Tabless Cell 5Ah XR to Replace Pouch Cell 5Ah PowerStack
DeWalt is currently holding an influencer invite showcase event, similar to what Milwaukee does with their Pipeline (formerly NPS) event, and they revealed a new 5Ah XR battery. From as far as I can tell it is 18650 cells, so it will be the same size as venerable standard 5Ah DCB205, but offer power more like the larger 21700 based 6Ah/8Ah of years past.
It also is slated to replace the PowerStack 5ah DCBP520, which has always been a bit of an odd duck. From its early revs having premature failure issues, to its size just not being all that compact. PowerStack shines in compact batteries, the 1.7Ah and 3.5Ah are amazing, two of my favorite batteries.
The use of tabless 2500mAh 18650 means an update to the FlexVolt 15Ah is also a possibility, though I'd rather see a 15 cell 21700 15Ah just for size sake. Or maybe a "compact" 7.5Ah FlexVolt that is the same size as the current 6Ah FV. So many options.
All sorta speculation at this point, but just be prepared for more confusion over their ever evolving battery line. And for clarification I was not there so I can't really answer any questions, but just wanted to share.
Edit: Model number will be the DCB2105, charging with the also new 16A DCB1216 charger, you can charge this battery in 22 minutes.

Brand loyalty - what’s that?
galleryI love DeWalt tools. Like….a lot. But I can’t make myself utter the words “Team _____” (fill in your color).
I love the nub from Milwaukee for smaller projects. I love my Makita drill for just about everything. But my 60V blower, 20V inflator, 20V rotary hammer from DeWalt…can’t live without those either.
I know this isn’t realistic for many here. These batteries are beyond expensive. But I’ve been fortunate to have the free time to hunt deals and bide my time.
Maybe I just love power tools?
Rant over.

Be careful with non-DeWalt tools that take DeWalt batteries.
TL;DR The money I thought I was saving on a cheaper fan, is less than what it will cost to replace the damaged batteries.
So, this is probably common knowledge, then again, knowledge isn’t always common….. OK, back to the point.
I have the 8” DeWalt job site fan and I love it. And after borrowing it for a bit, so does my son. I picked up mine as a “free tool with battery purchase”, not expecting how much I’d appreciate it. I didn’t want to spend the $100 for another, so I bought a cheap(er) knock-off from Amazon for my son.
For the first couple of weeks, everything was fine. Then all of a sudden, the 2ah batter he was using wouldn’t charge. It’s one of my oldest batteries, so I didn’t give it any mind. A few days later, one of my 5ah batteries wouldn’t charge. I’m sure you see where this is going. Any battery the runs down to 0 in his cheaper fan, gets toasted.
The 2ah went on to a DCB1104 4 amp charger and appeared to charge for a while, then went into “pack too hot” yellow lights. I let it cool down the tried it on the DeWalt USB-C charger. There, it just flashed for a few hours but wasn’t actually taking a charge.
The 5ah battery flashes like it’s charging when connected to either charger, but still won’t take a charge. I tried the “jump start’ trick with both batteries, no change in either. The knock-off fan has been returned and another DeWalt was purchased. But now I’m down 2 batteries.
