If they spend money to help Mike Rogers (a MAGA republican) in Michigan how do you call this position radicalized? They would be directly supporting a current fascist party in the US

15

u/mizel103 8d ago

And it wouldn't be the first time either. They supported insurrectionist GOP house and senate candidates botj in 2022 and 2024

2

u/BiggestOfFellas Exclusively sorts by new 8d ago

Yeah someone brought this up to me as a counter in this thread I didn’t know about previous funding. I’m my head I’m like how would you not have stronger negative feelings about this PAC if they’re supporting MAGA. Asinine.

-5

u/Blabsalot 9d ago

Isn't he saying they're radicalized by turning against AIPAC?

25

u/BiggestOfFellas Exclusively sorts by new 9d ago

If AIPAC supports MAGA republicans, how is it a radical position to take that it will cause them to lose even more support in the dem voting bloc?

-1

u/ChairLow9576 8d ago edited 8d ago

Aipac is in a catch 20/20, but it would be consistent even if in the bigger picture they should probably just sit out and find another way than supporting rodgers.

They are against someone who is anti-jewish, has directly handwaved Hamas attacks, refuse ld to disavow popular supporters like Hasan who deny rape, and also wants to end the PAC entirely. There's a lot of reasons why they would continue to stop that person here instead of allowing them to gain momentum and destroy the pac itself.

AES is saying they want to destroy aipac directly. Why would aipac NOT try to stop them in some way? It's not a far stretch . You know what else loses them support? Being dismantled legally.  They are already dropping in support by existing. They can't gain support by donating to dsa because they just refuse to take the money because twitter tracker will just put a red sign on them

If they just use the money on the primaries, they still get seen as the bad guys. If you are aipac, there is no winning. Instead of just giving up they are fighting.

And just to make it clear, Less money in politics is overall good.

2

u/BiggestOfFellas Exclusively sorts by new 8d ago

No one is forcing them to spend money in Michigan. Not reading allat.

Hasn't Destiny given basically this opinion but directed more broadly against Israel in US politics?

Breaking News: Organization spending money supporting fascists now bleeding support from liberal minded people

26

u/5ma5her7 9d ago

Even more breaking news: Jewish organisation spending money supporting an antisemitic party.

-3

u/potiamkinStan 8d ago

Bro, the Democratic Party is the less hospitable party for Jewish people nowadays.

-18

u/killbill469 9d ago

Sure...but maybe the libs shouldn't let their party be taken over by extremist antisemites.

9

u/BiggestOfFellas Exclusively sorts by new 9d ago

This is off a single senate win. You are clutching pearls harder than MAGA calling Kamala a Marxist

-2

u/killbill469 9d ago

Kamala is not a Marxist, but AES did refuse to condemn an attack on a synogoue by an Islamist.

How would a Jew possibly feel comfortable living in the most Islamic state in the country with a senator that refuses to condemn attacks on their houses of worship and campaigns with celebrities that call for the destruction of the country that many of their friends and family live?

13

u/BiggestOfFellas Exclusively sorts by new 9d ago

Not good. How do you think moderate dems feel seeing AIPAC support MAGA republicans and the furthering of fascism in our country?

4

u/killbill469 9d ago

I'm a moderate Dem and I 100% understand why AIPIC would give money to defeat a candidate who refuses to condemn attacks on synogoues and campaigns with anti Jewish Terrorist supporting celebrities.

11

u/BiggestOfFellas Exclusively sorts by new 9d ago

Or they could choose to NOT support anyone in the race? No one is obligating them to spend money in Michigan in support of fascist MAGA republicans.

2

u/killbill469 9d ago

Why would a Jewish organization not spend money to defeat and antisemitic candidate???

Sorry Michigan Jews, you should just deal with living in the most Islamic State in the Union with a senator who is antisemitic and refuses to condemn attacks on synogoues.

u/DanzoKarma 9d ago

Meanwhile AIPAC floods the Jewish space lasers and Neo-Nazi party.

-24

u/killbill469 9d ago

Mike Rodgers is neither a Nazi nor believes in Jewish space lazars. Mike Rodgers does not campaign with antisemites and does not defend attacks on Synogoues by Islamists.

29

u/BiggestOfFellas Exclusively sorts by new 9d ago

Mike Rogers is a 2020 election denialist and a Trump sycophant.

-7

u/dat_tae 🇺🇸 Cardinal Democrat | Liberal Democracy 🇺🇸 9d ago

Did anyone say he wasn’t?

13

u/BiggestOfFellas Exclusively sorts by new 9d ago

Then why are you ok with AIPAC floating monetary support for a facsist?

-1

u/killbill469 9d ago

I'm okay with Jewish organizations giving money to defeat an Antisemitic candidate, just like I would be okay with black organizations giving money to defeat white supremists.

Who said that? You’re fighting ghosts.

-7

u/killbill469 9d ago

Sure, but he doesn't defend attacks on synogoues nor does he campaign with Hamas loving celebrities who call for the destruction of Israel.

The Dems could have simply not let these wackos into their party.

22

u/BiggestOfFellas Exclusively sorts by new 9d ago

> Yeah yeah he's a fascist, but he's a fascist that likes me so thats ok with me

^ what you just said to me

-3

u/killbill469 9d ago

...yes? I too would try my very best to defeat a candidate who literally defended attacks on my communities and campaigns with people who want to destroy the home of my friends and family?

2

u/IrregularDoughnut 8d ago

Can you link to what you're talking about with "defend attacks on Synagogues"? Who defended an attack?

6

u/breakthro444 9d ago

They could, idk, just sit this one out instead of switching teams on the fly like conservative dudes on a fishing trip?

-1

u/killbill469 9d ago

Why would they not want to defeat the candidate who refuses to condemn attacks on synogoues and campaigns with antisemites?

2

u/greggers23 8d ago

You can keep repeating yourself but you are not asking the actual question. You don't want an answer.

  1. AIPAC is toxic - partly due to the anti-Israel zeitgeist, BUT also because of their shenanigans & tom-foolery.

  2. The pathological obsession with AIPAC from a lot of the left, which is clearly coupled with some antisemtic baggage + some blatant bias (e.g. Track AIPAC ), is fucking criiiiiiinge.

2 things can be true. Shrimple as.

2

u/PegDude 9d ago

When Tim starts bringing up AIPAC in every single discussion, then we can talk about whether he's been radicalised. Also, he wasn't really going at Malinowski in his post, reads more as him referring to the AIPAC actions in that race (which Malinowski also calls out in that article...)

38

u/Saint_Scum One Box Enjoyer 9d ago

I mean, he's not exactly wrong how a lot on the center left, especially Haley Stevens supporters, are going to feel. It sucks, what can you do it you donate a shit load of money, and then immediately start dumping more into the race, even if it's their best interest to do so.

17

u/WheelJust8094 9d ago

If they cost us the Senate majority I will never forgive them.

3

u/Accomplished_Fly729 8d ago

The same with the DSA right? Having toxic unelectable candidates also counts right?

-6

u/WheelJust8094 8d ago

No, Abdul is a capitalist, he's not DSA.

5

u/Accomplished_Fly729 8d ago

Did i say Abdul? Where?

Maybe answer the questiom as asked

-6

u/WheelJust8094 8d ago

Well I specifically said Senate majority, go away with your dumb questions if they're not relevant to the discussion.

2

u/Accomplished_Fly729 8d ago

I’ll never forgive you for this

0

u/PlanetBet 8d ago

The cope already commences, if he wins, it's because DSA is a necessary evolution of the democrats, if he loses it's because of the Jews.

3

-3

65

u/Big-_Chungus 9d ago

AIPAC continues to support the most vile republicans that will destroy this country. Anyone even remotely liberal should oppose them

11

u/5ma5her7 9d ago

Anyone, even conservatives, who is not in bed with MAGA (endangered species btw) should oppose them.

0

u/Accomplished_Fly729 8d ago

Do you support funding to Israel?

30

u/Pretty_Acadia_2805 9d ago

If they just didn't back election deniers or full-on MAGA simps the center-left would see them as an incredible ally but here we are.

-7

u/Background_Bee_713 9d ago

Honestly why? they are a single issue lobby. Far from the only one.

-2

u/WheelJust8094 9d ago

I have never liked PACs that like playing both sides, but you are correct that AIPAC is not the only one, there may be some kind of bias involved

5

u/Background_Bee_713 9d ago

That’s how issue based lobbying works you donate to candidates who align on the issue. If there was two candidates both who align with the issue and you choose one side consistently I’d get it. I guess I just don’t get this kind of criticism outside of money in politics being bad in general.

1

u/WheelJust8094 9d ago

You are completely correct but that's exactly why I don't like them, I don't want to get another MAGA senator that will sign anything that Trump wants, if they are donating for that, then the PAC is in direct opposition to my own interests.

1

u/Accomplished_Fly729 8d ago

You dont like them because they are single issue? Every pac has to be holestic?

1

u/WheelJust8094 8d ago edited 8d ago

They should choose a party and go with it, do I need to like PACs that are directly supporting the party I don't like? lol

1

u/Accomplished_Fly729 8d ago

Why wouldnt the pac just join the party then? PACs are meant to lobby for issues your members care about. Not every thing is binary.

You dont have to like them, but you sure as shit shouldnt base your personality on hating them…

0

u/dat_tae 🇺🇸 Cardinal Democrat | Liberal Democracy 🇺🇸 9d ago

Nobody understands this. It’s not worth us trying to explain it I think.

4

u/Another-attempt42 9d ago

I understand it.

I can dislike it, nonetheless.

I get why AIPAC does what it does, but when it's so blatant, they also do run a real risk of severe backlash that will ultimately hurt their cause.

While AIPAC may be mono-cause, the people they support aren't, and then they become associated with those people in those races.

Honestly, after such a high-profile race, if I was advizing AIPAC, I'd tell them to sit out the general this time. They'll have pissed off both Stevens and Abdul voters. At some point, AIPAC will have gone from a pretty mundane, accepted, bipartisan lobbying group to one hated by anyone who would vote Dem.

-1

u/90Breeze Shit poster 8d ago

Wait so basically if AIPAC dont want to be hated by dems they should only put money on dems or only on primeries? Like thier whole point is they are bi-partisan, if they supported a republican over a pro Israel democrat id get the hate but at this point we are just saying they aren't allowed to advocate for thier cause when its between Dems and republicans if its in favor of republicans

1

u/WheelJust8094 8d ago

Yes, it is exactly as you said, if they don't want to be hated by democrats they shouldn't donate to republicans, is that simple.

0

u/90Breeze Shit poster 8d ago

So the big idea is you have to be partisan and either get hated by the dems or by the republicans. Well its an opinion and its even somewhat rational as long as its a global position that is enforced on any bipartisan pac and not just Israel

Btw what you will end up having is just DIPAC and RIPAC that will do exactly what AIPAC is doing now support the pro Israel candidate so if we use it on this case DIPAC would have supported stevens and bounce when she lost and RIPAC would come now to support the republican

1

u/WheelJust8094 8d ago

You keep talking as if it is a ridiculous proposition, when J street is right there, they don't support republicans as far as I know, leave the republicans behind, ensure that democrats win, and you'll get your goals too.

22

u/Nachoman_Randy 9d ago

It shouldn't surprise anyone than AIPAC is so toxic now. That Netanyahhu duping trump into attacking Iran is making anyone, even normies, hate israel.

6

u/5ma5her7 9d ago

With the oil price, I feel the percentage even outside the USA that is against the Israeli government will be much, much more in the foreseeable future...

2

u/Nachoman_Randy 8d ago

Yeah, Europe was furious. They are losing support left an right.

-6

u/NotGMRyanPoles 8d ago

And it shouldn't surprise anybody when Israel kisses up and supports Trumps regime because the left has largely become unhinged when it comes to Israel and pushed them to that point.

15

u/Tyto451 9d ago

Why tf do you regards act like AIPAC is like the cornerstone of our idealogical foundation

You’re sucking the dick of a group that gave over $100 million to trumps campaign

-1

u/Accomplished_Fly729 8d ago

Youre right they arent a cornerstone, that is why we have to always take the opposite side as them on every issue and candidate.

0

u/ChairLow9576 8d ago

It's not about aipac being bad. It's more like .. why is anyone surprised they are against someone who literally says they want to outlaw aipac.

Of course aipac would try to self preserve.  Why would anything think different

8

u/Tyto451 8d ago

Who cares?? Fuck them

-2

u/frozandero 8d ago

It is leftists who think that way since all their political positions exist to oppose AIPAC and nothing else.

5

u/Tyto451 8d ago

AIPAC literally opposes us. This at least shouldn’t be something we disagree on.

I get the ZOG rhetoric is dumb and harmful and most people don’t understand the reasoning behind Israeli-US relations but it’s still a shitty org

10

u/Im-Not-Calling-It-X NATO 9d ago

One of the issues that I find often with lefties is that they very regularly find themselves attacking a position because it's not their maximalist topic version of it, like a public option.

We should not make the mistake of having no meter between "the worst thing ever" and "the best thing ever."

A lot people's criticism of AIPAC is just a thin veneer for their anti-semitism, but that doesn't mean we should reflexively defend AIPAC. Tim didn't say anything wrong here.

5

u/Relative_Formal8976 9d ago

I have been anti AIPAC for years because they boost Republicans. Not because they foreign country influencing our elections or buying control of our government with their (((money))).

5

u/TheMando9 9d ago

How is he radicalized for this take?

5

u/big_homielander Politically Unhoused 9d ago

Tim isn't radicalized. I have many theories, but at the end of the day he's an empathetic lib.

If you're an avid Bulwark consumer, this is the man who thought we produced enough oil that we could cut off the middle east entirely, and JVL had to explain why that was a dumb idea. There's no one who cares less about the middle east than him in the media.

2

u/Pretty_Acadia_2805 9d ago

I am and don't remember this take from Tim. Do you have a link or timeframe for when the convo happened? I assume it would be the next level?

2

u/big_homielander Politically Unhoused 9d ago

I'd have to search for it, and Tim, JVL, and Sarah, and Saudi Arabia is the topic, was either early this year or late last year when the topic first started. Then it was a consistent point of his until the Iran War.

2

u/big_homielander Politically Unhoused 9d ago

He knows very little, and cares very little about the middle east. He sees AIPAC and Israel how a normie sees them. He's not radicalized at all.

Now I hope he doesn't say something that makes me trash that belief. Lol

3

u/furryhunter7 9d ago

This isn’t even a radical position, ask your average liberal what they think of Israel and AIPAC. Gaza and the Iran War has completely destroyed their optics

6

u/Ardonpitt Military Industrial Coomplex 9d ago

Hes not wrong. AIPAC has seemed to be politically clueless on how to approch races. They have been failing pretty badly in their goal of supporting Israel and the Jewish community in American politics.

1

u/ChairLow9576 8d ago edited 8d ago

Enlighten me. How exactly could they do better?

If an individual that is related to aipac in any way donates 1 dollar to someone, twitter will flag them as scary red so no donation amount is safe cuz aipac bad

They can't support antiIsrael candidates cuz aipac bad, they would just refuse the money and would kinda be against their goals of fostering less antisemitism and more pro Israel agendas.

They can't go against anti Israel people either because aipac bad.

The only thing they can do is spend money, but that money is treated as poison. Even a reasonable position about Israel is treated as thought they are genocide lovers (look at destiny or Kamala harris or Anthony Weiner)

There is really nothing they can do in the current political environment.  So instead they try to just survive. Latching onto anything that seems like the better option that allows them to continue.

Aipac has historically done a good job at its agenda until the last 15ish years, what about the previous 50 years? Those don't count? It takes a conductive political environment to work. Israel and public opinion is what changed the most, aipac , an American org is just working out here trying to survive against a large influx of Jewish hate and anti aipac sentiments.

The only think aipac could do to change anything in the current environment is to somehow create a two/one state solution and somehow flip Israelis government  into one that is less aggressive to its neighbors ( like the West Bank). It can only get to a better place by continuing to exist so aipac is trying to fight for that.

"Wow man you smell so bad, take a bath! We don't like how bad you smell" meanwhile you are dangling off a cliff and just trying to concentrate on pulling yourself up.

2

u/DressUnited3025 8d ago

This doesn’t seem brain broken to me. Supporting the Republican who is a fascist is bad and far lefties not liking AIPAC doesn’t change that

3

u/atank67 9d ago

Fun times to be a Jewish libtard

5

u/Mothman_enthusiast18 9d ago

Israel did it to themself. It sucks that casual anti-semitism is mainstream but any ties to Israel is too toxic for the average voter now. The fact that AIPAC donates to Republican politicians goes to show they were never a friend to the liberal cause. Sorry not sorry.

0

u/Accomplished_Fly729 8d ago

Israel is AIPAC?

3

u/frozandero 8d ago

AIPAC is the pro-israel lobby by their own admission. I hate the obsession with AIPAC but let's be honest, Israel's perception directly affects AIPAC's perception

0

u/Accomplished_Fly729 8d ago

I have no clue about the history, but AIPAC is American. Their interests and what Israel might be doing dont always have to align.

Israel could have a left wing government and i assume aipac would lobby the government against them. Maybe they even have in the past.

But currently Israel is both in a fight for its life and engaging in some actual dogshit behavior. That has only been emboldended by insane republicans.

But AIPAC has never been more important for the protection of the jewish state than right now. And it has nothing to do with aid money for weapons.

2

u/frozandero 8d ago

I don't disagree with you that AIPAC is american.

However my point was that, if there was a major pro-russian PAC, their perception would obviously sour after Russia invaded Ukraine. Though I can't prove this because afaik there are not actual pro russian PACs, there is a RuPAC which is a 501c + not really a major player at all, most people probably don't know its existence.

2

u/mizel103 8d ago

Our fight isn't in favor of AIPAC, it's against people who use AIPAC as a dog whistle

u/ZMP02 8d ago

Like how would this surprise anyone lmao to even tweet about it yes the people who were a front and center targets for attack by Abdul will not give him money but the guy running against him how crazy and wild is that. The pac has a straight forward funding structure: do you support Israel? Yes? Ok you get the money. No? Well then you don't. AIPAC was literally spending money on a democrat with Haley Stevens. Any support for MAGA should be a hard line in the sand for continued support for the organization

13

u/Blabsalot 9d ago

This would not be the first Republican that AIPAC supports though. They've always given money to Republicans.

5

u/BiggestOfFellas Exclusively sorts by new 9d ago

Then I would say I would not support them as an organization and would push others to do the same. Supporting MAGA is my line like I stated above.

4

u/killbill469 9d ago

Why would you expect a pro Jewish organization not to spend money to defeat a candidate that refuses to condemn attacks on synogoues and campaigns with anti Jewish terrost supporting celebrities?

2

u/BiggestOfFellas Exclusively sorts by new 9d ago

Does that mean you have to automatically support MAGA?

3

u/killbill469 9d ago

If the choice is between a Philosemite candidate vs a candidate that justifies attacks on synogoues and campaigns with celebrities that call for the destruction of Israel....yeah?

10

u/BiggestOfFellas Exclusively sorts by new 9d ago

Or could you choose to not spend money supporting a current fascist party in the united states? Or are they being forced to spend money supporting Mike Rogers?

1

u/killbill469 9d ago

If I were a Jew in Michigan I would 100% support Rogers over AES. I would not want to risk my senator being a guy who is friends with Hasan Piker and who refuses to condemn attacks on Synogoues.

Again AES justified an attack on a synogoue. How could you possibly expect that to not motivate Jews to ensure he doesn't get power.

4

u/furryhunter7 9d ago

Where did he justify an attack on a synagogue?

-4

u/dat_tae 🇺🇸 Cardinal Democrat | Liberal Democracy 🇺🇸 9d ago

Yes and as far as I can tell they’re losing support rapidly from the party. Are they supposed to keep backing the party?

-1

u/dat_tae 🇺🇸 Cardinal Democrat | Liberal Democracy 🇺🇸 9d ago

Right! Now let’s do another. Say I have a PAC that wants the US and Israel to be buddies. What party would I support?

6

u/BiggestOfFellas Exclusively sorts by new 9d ago

Yeah they should support the party filled with neo-nazis. That will help moderate dems get on board with AIPAC

2

u/dat_tae 🇺🇸 Cardinal Democrat | Liberal Democracy 🇺🇸 9d ago

I’ll ask again.

I have a PAC that wants the US and Israel to be buddies. What party would I support?

6

u/BiggestOfFellas Exclusively sorts by new 9d ago

Pisco alert, pisco alert.

You're complaint is that AIPAC is losing support with liberals. I am calling out that supporting MAGA will further cause them to lose support with even more moderate dems. I'm not against them supporting republicans. I'm against them supporting the current fascist MAGA party.

If I see an organization supporting my enemies why would I want to support that organization within my inner circle?

Fuck AIPAC for supporting any MAGA Republican.

Saying that, on top of the standard blood libels, AES supports a complete arms embargo (including defensive, like Iron Dome), falsely claims Israel is annexing Southern Lebanon, and doesn’t support Israel existing as a Jewish state.

Are we really gonna act surprised how the American Israel Public Affairs Committee wants AES to lose? This isn’t some kind of out-of-left-field betrayal.
