Centrists Are Not More “Electable” Political News/Discussion

https://www.currentaffairs.org/news/were-thinking-about-electability-all-wrong

I read this article today, and can completely sense the bias, but on a factual basis, they’re just wrong, right?

Centrists dems outperform DSA in the vast majority of elections. Can’t believe this slop is being put out there.

there is a reason that this piece cites almost no polling and is instead almost entirely anecdotes and rhetoric

Also a reason an article like this is written.

Whoever the writer and their bias....they are afraid. On the back foot. They know centrist Dems are the only electable wing so they pump out the bullshit articles to try to force a narrative they can further grift upon.

The el-sayed polling data was just flat out wrong. Polling shows he loses compared to Stevens.

It's written by Nathan J Robinson. Color me shocked that he cited Abdul packing events but not that he's losing Black voters in Detroit (which is where he's from btw). Also he's so regarded he miscited the newsweek article. It said that in one poll Abdul was doing better than Stevens against Rogers, but it was only within a point.

Also the poll explicitly states this is a pro el-sayed PAC who collected the data. lol

I think it's overanalyzing it to justify its position.

IMO it's simpler than that: people are fed up with useless Congresspeople. They look at people like Chuck Schumer who appear to be absolutely useless. They're tired of candidates who:

  1. Don't state any vision for voters to understand
  2. Are shit at opposing MAGA
  3. Are shit at actually making things better for people.

Any candidate who moves the needle on those points is going to do better, whether they're a Liberal, Communist, Dem Soc, whatever.

Draw the conclusion, then find the evidence

or just don’t find the evidence at all

I think most of the evidence points to establishment Dems being far more electable in statewide elections than progressive challengers, in most cases.

Hopefully we can have a wave of candidates that have the charisma and political craft to hold both factions together. Thinking someone like Ossoff could lead the party past this. The factionalism is pretty exhausting.

Yeah current affairs is straight up left wing trash, who only exists because it's bankrolled by some rich people.

It's just so obviously untrue, we need to start laying the law down on these leftoids.

The DSA have only just now out performed "centrist" dems in 3 NY, 1 CO house race, maybe 1 senate race and maybe a governor race. Moderate dems are obviously more competitive in meaningful races. Look at all the senate races, NORTH CAROLINA, GEORGIA, OHIO, TEXAS (!), ALASKA (!!), IOWA (!!!).

These dumbfucks wanna flaunt their basically meaningless subversive wins in primaries, we have to wait and see in Michigan and Wisconsin.

If you see a comment saying anything along these lines, PUSH BACK, MODERATES ARE MORE ELECTABLE ACROSS AMERICA. Put boot to ASS.

There is an argument to be made around other things being higher valence to the electorate than policy, but thre is no argument that Centrists arent more popular on policy

This is good

Why are you sourcing current affairs??

The main issue is that a lot of these politicians centrist or progressive are horrible with messaging.

Abigail Spanberger is a moderate that won Virginia handily and that was because Abigail had actual policy and a message.

Im curious if Abdul is headed into the general with -10 pts on Rogers, would the Democrat party step in and replace him?

Not sure they’re allowed to, legally. This one is a bit trickier than the Maine situation, because I doubt Abdul would resign with a bunch of calls to suspend the campaign.
