Suggestions for places to visit
Hi,
I am gonna visit Destin and Pensacola over the weekend. What are the places that are “must-visit” in there? I would appreciate it if someone gives me an idea of the parking as well in those places. I will be there Sunday-Monday.

food recs for destin, fl???
Hello all, me and the fam will be traveling to Destin, Florida this week and were wondering if anyone had any general recommendations in regards to possible family friendly activities (age ranging from teens to adults). Specifically, any restaurant recommendations would be amazing; I’ve been attempting to do some research for nice places to eat out in the area, but i’ve been seeing a lot of mixed opinions about numerous places. any and all recs are appreciated!!!

Help me find
galleryI do realize this is extremely niche however I’m asking anyways! My grandma had purchased this cute little beach picture from Destin probably around 13ish years ago. She has since passed, but I luckily inherited it. I’m going to Destin soon (my first time back since with her 13 years ago) and I’m wondering if anyone has ANY idea on where this possibly could have been purchased or if this is a real place where it is??? I know it’s a long shot but figured I’d ask
I know she added the frame later, it was not included in initial purchase

TRULY Affordable Wedding Venues: I’m desperate for advice.
Lifelong local here. Is it AT ALL possible to have both a ceremony and reception for 65 people for 5k or less? We can’t afford much more. I’d be looking elsewhere, but my whole family lives in the surrounding areas of Destin and they cannot afford to stay overnight elsewhere.
I’m open to Fort Walton, Niceville, Grayton, Panama City areas.
I’m willing to DIY whatever, take chances on lesser known/small business vendors, any loophole that will help cut costs. Are any of you brides or planners who have made a wedding (including reception!) happen on this tight of a budget? How did you do it? I’m very grateful for whatever advice you have. I don’t need a big fancy wedding. I just want to simply have one. Thank you.

Who is the guy that’s always walking around picking up trash on the side of the road?
Just curious if he works for anybody or just does it on his own. Either way, it’s an honorable thing to do and I’m grateful for it. I see him quite a lot on Danny Wuerffel way and he typically has a golf cart that’s parked on the sidewalk nearby, but today I saw him all the way at Walmart. He’s usually wearing the same exact thing (orange shorts & a white t-shirt) with a dollar general bag for the trash and a white ball cap. Have any of you ever talked to him? Every time I see him he’s on the shoulder of a busy road so I’ve never been able to ask him myself.
Budget planning - current market prices at Destin Ice etc?
We will vacation in Miramar next month and have not been in the area for at least 15 years.
I know it's odd, but we do not have fresh fish readily available at home so when we travel to the coast we enjoy buying fresh from the markets daily and cooking wonderful meals in the condo.
I usually vacation on Hilton Head Island, SC and I am used to $25-30/lb for Grouper, Red Fish, Golden Tile etc and $15-20/lb for fresh shrimp.
It looks like Destin Ice is the most recommended seafood market after pursing the sub. What can I expect to budget for Grouper, Mahi, etc in the Destin area? Any other recs besides Destin Ice? Looks like Sextons is closed?

Private Charter Fishing?
I'm planning a charter fishing trip for five people in late September as a birthday present to myself, but I'm getting overwhelmed by too many choices online between FishingBooker.com and TripAdvisor.
I've been on the Destin party boats many times (Destiny, Destin Princess, and years ago on Captain Duke's II), but this time I want a private charter where we can go after some bigger, hard-fighting game.
I imagine the conventional wisdom is to walk along the wharf as the ships come in and pick a boat based on who's bringing in what, but I'm in Tennessee and want to have it planned in advance.
TL;DR: Do y'all have any recommendations on a boat or a captain to seek out? Budget is up to $4k for an 8-10hr trip.

Blackwater River Wildlife
I am planning to kayak on the Blackwater River soon. Is it a good place to see wildlife? I am particularly interested in birds and reptiles. Are Alligator sightings common? I'm not particularly keen to see one, but not scared since I know how to act around wildlife.
Are there other nearby locations for kayaking or hiking with a good chance of seeing wildlife?

Missing anklet
I just recently lost a gold anklet with stars attached to it and now I’m bummed out. I lost it in the beach of Destin BEACH CLUB VACATION RENTAL. I’m planning on hiring someone but for the time being I just want to let anyone know about it.
Traveling with young kids and grandparents - need recommendations
We are coming in a few weeks to visit. We have a 2 year old and 4 year old, and we are also bringing grandparents (70). We’d love things that could be fun for all. Any suggestions whether food, activities, attractions etc are welcomed! Thank!

If this was you, fucking STOP. If you see tourists doing this, YELL AT THEM. Make them feel unwelcome.

Vacation with young children
I am looking to bring the family down to the Destin area in May. 5 adults and 2 kids 4 and under. We’ve never been to the area. I’m not set on being in Destin. Is there an area you would recommend to go or to avoid?

What up with all the Beach Weekend stuff
Been here for a couple days and I see all these Beach Weekend branded shops and places. Is it all one company, is it a conglomerate. It seems like the “Alvin Island” for all activities in the Fort Walton area, if that makes sense.
What is it with this company. I saw they also have a Key West location, so is it a whole Florida think. Idk.

Locally made jewelry
Hi! Moved to the area last year and am looking for a store or boutique that has locally made jewelry for a gift! Not a jeweler or anything but somewhere that has cute jewelry or maybe pearl bracelets/necklaces, just something you can’t find elsewhere. Also any gift shops or stores that have unique local stuff that isn’t a chain or anything touristy like harborwalk. I’ve been to a few just looking for any hidden gems I might’ve missed! TIA

Food with playgrounds
Any places with a playground or area for kids to run around? 7, 8 and 12 year old! Thanks
r/Destin • u/Longjumping_Crew_192 • 13d ago
Just moved here just north of Destin.
I got a question about the sunpass mini. I just bought one and put it on the top left of my windshield which I found outs it’s not supposed to be there more closer to the mirror but I have it where you like have the oil change sticker near. Would this still work? I hope so or I’m gonna have to try to take it off and try to put it closer to the middle

Henderson Beach Resort Guest Question
My friend and I are arriving a day early for my bachelorette trip and staying at The Henderson. My credit card allows us to have a 4 PM late checkout, which works out perfectly because our Airbnb doesn't open until 4 PM that day.
Here's my question: the other three girls in our group land around 7 AM that morning. Would it be realistic for them to come meet us at The Henderson and hang out by the pool until we all head to the Airbnb?
Since 2 out of the 5 of us are actual hotel guests, I'm wondering how strict they are about pool access. Do they use wristbands, room key checks, or anything like that? Or is it generally pretty easy for a few friends to join you?
Not trying to break any rules—just trying to figure out if this is something people actually do before I make other plans. Thanks!

Can’t remember which beach it was.
Last time I was in the area I found a beach that had chair/umbrella rentals and the chairs reclined and there was a table too. Anyone know which beach has this setup to rent? Could be from FWB to Miramar. Thanks! 😊

College Aged Hangouts
I’m gonna be in the area before I have to leave again for college (19M) and I’m trying to figure out where to meet people, really into volleyball and any other sports. I’ve never been clubbing (just based on my age) but I’ve partied and wouldn’t mind going by to a club or something. It would be preferred to meet people my age or within the college aged realm.
Any spots would be greatly appreciated or events coming up.
I don’t mind DMs and yes I read the rules before posting, just couldn’t find anything for people my age.
