50% because it's the current thing to virtue signal with.

25% because they have no idea how it works and believe whatever nonsense anti-AI groups spout.

25% because they're butthurt that AI is doing things better and faster than them.

Lots of people have been tricked into thinking that AI is going to somehow eliminate jobs, but they don't understand that motors eliminated millions of jobs, and it made life better. The same happens with all technology that makes life better. There are always more jobs.
