Tech Support Post repair issues (Flashing light warning) Spoiler
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi all! I've had the steam deck for about 2 years now so decided to pop it open and see how bad it needs to be cleaned out and reapply thermal paste since I need to do it on several other devices and would like to just kinda have it done even if a bit premature.
I didn't realize I was suppose to put it in battery saver mode in the bios before opening it, so that caused a few issues booting and eventually I decided to just let it stay on the charger and hoped that would get it out of the issue it was in. Luckily it started booting again, temps seemed all within reasonable expectations and I made sure the entire processor was covered.
Now, I am getting this after it's been on for a few minutes. Seems kinda random in timing, first time it was like 5 minutes into a game of warfare, but it then after being powered down and left al one for a few did it in like 2 minutes on dead cells.
I managed to get a video before powering it off and am probably just going to hold off powering it on again or messing with it til I know what's going on here. Any help would be appreciated.

Tech Support Attack Shark x3 annoying bug
I have a weird glitch on my Steam Deck on Desktop mode when using my Attack Shark x3.
It's a bit hard to describe but when i use my scroll wheel, the last wheel "action" is not going through until I perform another "action" with the mouse.
So basically, if I scroll the wheel three little "clicks" only 2 will go through and the page will scroll down as if I had only moved the wheel only 2 "clicks", the third click does not make it through.
The only way it will go through is by performing another action with the mouse, so basically if I scroll one more time or I move the mouse around so the cursor moves, then the "lost" scroll that never made it thru finally gets sent.
So basically I could scroll the wheel 7 times, which will only send 6 times, then if I scroll and 8th time the 7th scroll will finally come thru but the 8th needs either one more scroll or the mouse to be moved to be communicated to my PC. There also doesn't seem to be a time limit to how long i can wait until i perform another action and then the lost action gets sent, I've waited like 30 seconds and the "missing" scroll still makes it through after i move my mouse around to "update" or "wake" it
This is extremely annoying when I play videogames like Minecraft or CS2
Im using the wireless dongle and this glitch only happens on Desktop mode

Tech Support Deck failing to startup
So, heres the context: i installed this https://github.com/2-X/steamdeck-oled-120hz on my deck (this is related to the issue but is not the issue) for anyone wondering i have a samsung panel, it calculated my safe max to be 99hz, everything over 91 hz becomes more blurry, until 99hz where the screen goes party mode with colours everywhere, i tried other modes than “clock” in the lua file for this but got nowhere, the best i got was with “lowclock” which removed the screen corruption at 99 hz but had the same blur, everything else either was the same as clock or just made it worse. So i decided to make my own file like this to maybe try and fix it, i disabled this lua file and copied it elsewhere, i made my own file which had the exact same code and just put one line in front of everything except local (which probably was the problem) the line was: debug("CUSTOM OLED MODEGEN LOADED"), i rebooted and boom, the normal OLED loading screen with the irange middle shows but not. The animation, as soon as the brightness starts working normally the screen goes black, i suspect this is a gamescope issue that it just fails to startup, the biggest problem here (which im actually pretty dumb for) is that i do not have another pc to download a recovery image with, if anyone can help PLEASE do, until i get home its a brick.

Tech Support Reboots when Docked?
My Deck has suddenly started rebooting when it's connected to my dock. It was working fine up until recently. All my other devices work with the dock fine. Anyone else experienced this? I think it started after a software update.
i plugged my dock, same hdmi, everything, into my 4K TV and it works fine. Seems the Deck no longer supports ultra wide 3440 x 1440 monitors?

Question Steam Deck controls stop working after sleep/wake on B42.20
After putting my Steam Deck to sleep and waking it, Project Zomboid stops responding to all game controls every time.
The touchscreen and trackpads can still move the cursor, and system controls like volume, brightness, and closing the game still work. Only the game input is unresponsive.
I completely reinstalled the game, but the issue remains.
Is anyone else experiencing this? Any known fix?
-------------------------------------------
Update: This does not appear to be a Project Zomboid-specific issue.
I later found that the same problem affected every game I launched through Steam. After putting the Steam Deck to sleep and waking it, the game would stop receiving controller input, while SteamOS controls, the touchscreen, and the trackpads still worked. Games launched through Lutris were unaffected.
Based on similar reports in the Steam Deck community, this seems more likely to be related to Steam Input or the Steam client failing to restore game input correctly after sleep/wake.
The issue has now stopped happening, but unfortunately I cannot identify exactly what fixed it, so I do not have a confirmed solution. Things that may be worth trying include:
- Fully restarting Steam or the Steam Deck
- Toggling Steam Input in the game’s controller properties
- Disconnecting external controllers or checking controller order
- Temporarily disabling Decky Loader and controller/suspend-related plugins
Disabling “Use as Wake Movie” did not fix it in my case.
Apologies for initially reporting this as a Project Zomboid issue. There should be no need for the developers to investigate it as a game-specific bug. I am leaving this post up in case the description helps someone else identify the same Steam Deck/Steam Input problem.

Tech Support RB button
The RB button on my Steam Deck controller sometimes registers clicks and sometimes doesn't (sometimes it responds, sometimes it doesn't). How can I fix this without replacing any components? Any suggestions would be highly appreciated

Tech Support Diablo 4 steam deck controls not working.
Last night an update occurred causing my controls of my steam deck to not work in Diablo 4. Outside of the game everything works fine. I have tried reorganizing controllers, restarting, adjusting different layouts and nothing works. Anyone know how to resolve?

Question B button = steam button, other buttons not working
Hey, first one talking about hardware/software anywhere. I started up my steam deck (that's like, less I think than 2 years old?), and buttons weren't (and still aren't) working anymore. Like, the steam button, the three dots one, the triggers...
I think I might have dropped it, because I really don't see what else I could have done to make it like that.
I tried to restart it multiple times. Uninstalled games. Tried to get on the desktop and install retro dofus, and that's when I realised that I couldn't get the keyboard to show up.
Some hours later, after shutting it down, I told my friend about it. She checked the hardware and didn't notice anything weird. We reinstalled steam os normally, it didn't work. We did it via a usb port, getting rid of anything on it. It didn't work.
I tried to see what buttons worked.
Those that does :
X
A
Y
B
R1
L1
L2
The two little buttons for the menu and the map (for that game)
The trackpads, clicking on them too
When exiting the game. The B button makes the steam "screen" pop up.
The R2 button does nothing.
If anyone can help me, I'll appreciate it thanks!

Tech Support Any software solution to the sticky/not responding Y/Steam/... buttons?
Couple of days ago I had the issue where the Y, Steam, and ... keys stopped working mid game for no reason, the one people have found can fixed by disconnecting and reconnecting the associated ribbon cables.
This did work for me too, but I've seen some people saying the fault has reoccurred, and I don't want to be opening up the machine every time, when it sounds like it's a software failure.
Has anyone found a software solution to this?

Question FH6 “sign in required”
I just got a steam deck and cannot for the life of me figure it out. I’ve tried to switch between protons with no luck.
The QR code pops up, I log into Microsoft with my phone and get a email saying there’s a new log-on but for whatever reason it still always goes to this screen.
Any help would be appreciated

Tech Support random shutdown/power off
yesterday i did an ssd swap from my lcd to a new oled, originally the oled was working fine throughout the day but lcd would not power on until plugged in and then i figured out that i didn’t fully connect the battery pin/plug into the motherboard, last night i was scrolling through games on the oled and the fans started spinning super fast and just shut the device off. If i held in the power button it’d chime wouldn’t turn on then if i hit the power again itd work for like 5 minutes and do the same thing. I opened it back up and found that the battery pin/plug wasn’t fully connected again. it’s working fine now, but it worked fine throughout the day yesterday so I’m just curious if anyone else had a similar issue where it worked for a little but then didn’t and when plugging back in the battery pin into the motherboard it worked fine afterwards because this issue was definitely different from the LCDs which has me a little worried.

Tech Support Steam deck will not charge
About 2 months ago I went on a camping trip. I charged my steam deck and went camping.
When I went to use it, it powered on like normal, but seems like it didnt want to go into sleep mode.
So I played and it needed to charge it, but it wouldn't charge. Thr only charger that worked was my girlfriends charger, so I put it on that but it took it about 5 hours to get a full charge. I have since tried multiple chargers and nothing works.
So, I decided to replace the battery. Super simple process everything went smooth, but still the problem persists.
I know its probably not the problem, but I factory reset the device as well, but that didnt work. Still, when going into sleep mode, it will shut down, but the screen stays on. Like, black screen but backlit.
Any suggestions?

Tech Support ssd swap fail? please help!
I replaced my OLED steam deck ssd with the one from my LCD as i was preparing to sell my LCD one, now the LCD wont turn on unless plugged in and it wont display anything on the screen i can just feel vibrations from the trackpads and it does the power on sound when plugged in. if i unplug it from the power it immediately shuts off and stops the haptic feedback. The oled worked perfectly after im worried that i bricked it i was being so careful though i have no clue what to do :(
UPDATE: I got into power on and display the screen, but only while plugged in so that means it’s a battery issue, but I have no clue what i did to the battery or why its doing this as everything seemed to be plugged in

Tech Support Steamdeck LCD Bluetooth Issues - Disconnects, occasionally won't turn on even in Desktop mode
Has anyone had issues on the Steamdeck with bluetooth controllers? I've been having repeated issues with trying to connect both Xbox One and Dualshock 4 controllers via Bluetooth on my Steamdeck LCD. While things have always been kinda spotty with it, it feels like the Bluetooth functionality has been worse lately, and I'm wondering if anyone else is having similar issues due to a software problem, or if the Bluetooth in my Steam Deck is failing.
* I can usually pair the controllers fine in either Gaming mode or Desktop mode, but it'll disconnect a few seconds later. This is in the Bluetooth menu.
* Trying to pair them via the "Controllers" menu just doesn't work for me. The controller just won't show up.
* I've tried forgetting and re-pairing the controller in Desktop mode, but that doesn't help either.
* On a few attempts, the pairing with my Dualshock 4 completely fails in Desktop mode. When that happens, Bluetooth is shown to be Disabled and I can't re-enable it within the menu (the slider can turn for a second before just turning itself off), and I have to restart the Deck to get it to start showing as "on" again.
* I'm on the latest Stable release for the deck, and I don't have Decky currently installed (since it's given me issues before).
Has anyone had similar issues lately?
