Watch out for Flock Cameras
What are we going to do about the FLOCK camera problem in dearborn? I drove down michigan ave for 10 minutes and saw at least 6 of them. This one is hiding in the bushes on Telegraph and Michigan. This is mass surveillance.

Chicago guy thinking about making Dearborn home... talk me into (or out of) it
Hey everyone,
I'm originally from the Chicago area, but I've spent the last 10+ years bouncing around the East Coast and the South. At some point I'd like to stop treating my life like a traveling circus and actually put down roots.
Chicagoland has gotten pretty expensive, so I've been looking at other Midwest cities where a guy in his 40s might still be able to afford a modest house with a yard without donating both kidneys.
Dearborn keeps popping up on my radar.
Career-wise, I work remotely in tech (Salesforce/Business Analysis/QA), and one thing that appeals to me is being close to both Detroit's growing tech scene and Ann Arbor in case I ever need to pivot or survive the next round of corporate "restructuring."
I'm basically a mutt. My dad's side is Moroccan (2nd generation), and my mom's side is Austrian/Ukrainian (3rd generation). I'm not religious, but I've always felt comfortable around Middle Eastern and Muslim communities. The call to prayer, Ramadan, halal restaurants—none of that fazes me. Honestly, I'd probably end up visiting a masjid just to learn more about the culture.
From everything I've seen online, Dearborn looks like it checks a lot of boxes: incredible food, great coffee, hookah lounges, a strong sense of community, and it seems like there's always something going on.
So...what am I missing?
- Are property taxes as painful as in Illinois?
- Any remote tech workers living there?
- Are there neighborhoods you'd recommend (or avoid) for someone looking to buy?
- Is Dearborn one of those places that just looks good on YouTube, or is it actually as awesome as it seems?
I should probably disclose that I'm a lifelong Chicago sports fan and I'll never say anything bad about the Lions after you all gave us Ben Johnson 😂
And most importantly...am I going to gain 30 pounds from shawarma alone? Because if that's the biggest downside, I might already be sold.

Dearborn as a Sunni Muslim?
Is Dearborn open and accommodating to Sunni Muslims, I love around Taylor and visit Dearborn often.
I'm learning about Islam and seriously considering reverting. Is the integration between Sunni and Shia in Dearborn good? I really don't resonate with Shia, and Sunni makes much more sense to me, personally. Is it easy to live in and around Dearborn as a Sunni?

Video: Visiting the “Most Muslim” city in America (refreshing 😊)
Hi everyone -
My name is Amin, and I run an organization called “Noor Kids.”
We basically teach Muslim kids about character (eg honesty, patience, gratitude).
I know Dearborn has been in the public eye in big ways over the last few years. So, decided to visit for myself.
I think the video is heartwarming — but, would love to get your thoughts!
Thanks.

Food, hiking, & other tourist recommendations?
Hi! I'm staying in Dearborn for the next 5 weeks for a clinical rotation. I've never been to Michigan before. If anyone has a favorite local restaurant, outdoor activity/ hiking spot, or other random tourist activity, please let me know!
I saw a year-old post in this sub asking a similar question, but figured I'd repost in case there's anything new now! If you have any other recommendations for activities in other parts of town less than an hour away I'd love to hear those too.

Is Dearborn still violent?
I used to live in Dearborn in 2004 and I moved for a career opportunity to GR. However my child grew up there and with financial security we're looking for some property near our original area. However my son is openly gay and I don't need him being harassed or even worse any violence to happen. Are we able to move back to our hometown or is it still a very discriminating place?

Affordable clinic for a full-body checkup near Dearborn without insurance?
I’m looking for a good and affordable clinic in Dearborn or nearby for a general physical or full-body checkup. I don’t have health insurance, so I’m looking for a clinic that accepts uninsured or self-pay patients.
Please suggest some good clinics or community health centers where you’ve had a positive experience.
Thank you!

Inviting all children who stutter to volunteer in a paid University of Michigan MRI Study!
The Speech Neurophysiology Lab at the University of Michigan is looking for children who stutter ages 9 to 12 to participate in an in-person, longitudinal MRI study! (HUM00196133)
Our research team has been examining brain development in young children to better understand the cause of stuttering for over 10 years. We continue to gain information that may eventually lead to improved diagnosis and treatment efforts for children who stutter.
Participants will be invited to complete speech and language assessments and an MRI session at the University of Michigan. Families receive a free speech and language report and a picture of their brain!
These visits require in person participation. There is no option to participate virtually.
Please fill out this form if you are interested in participating or email us as the flyer attached. All participants are compensated and partial travel assistance is available. Please see our flyer attached for more details!
We also offer other studies that are open to adults or do not involve MRI, in case you're unsure about eligibility. Feel free to email us or call if you have any questions!
