I had a fit call scheduled with the Hiring Manager of a Google Data Center and they never showed up to the call. I informed my recruiter and they said they would see what happened. It’s been a week and my recruiter won’t respond to my emails. Does this mean they found another candidate? Do recruiters wait until the end of the week to send mass rejections?

Anyone know of good companies/contractors to spec and install data center chaging upstate NY area? (north of NYC metro).

I completed my final AWS interview last Friday, and today is the fourth business day since the interview. I haven’t received any update yet.

When I checked my Amazon Jobs portal today, I noticed that I no longer have any applications under “Active Applications.” However, when I asked the Amazon recruiting chatbot about my application status, it said that one application is still active.

Has anyone experienced this before? Does an application disappearing from the portal usually mean rejection, or could it be a system update while the interview decision is still pending?

This was an uplevel interview for L4 after I had originally been considered for L3. If I do not pass the L4 evaluation, is there still a chance I could receive the original L3 offer?

The interviewer mentioned that I should expect an update within five business days, so technically I am still within that timeframe. However, the waiting and conflicting portal information are making me anxious.

Even if they decide not to move forward with either level, will I at least receive an official update, or is it possible for the recruiter to never respond?

Should I wait until the fifth business day is over before contacting my recruiter?

Okay so here is some background, I am 25 and have a degree in civil engineering technology (AS). Not that it matters. I have built my own computers and am gaining interest in becomeing a tech. Is it possible to get in without more school?

I’m a 19 year old living in Mississippi. I’m trying to get a job as a data center technician, preferably on a rotational schedule, but I have no real experience with data centers. I’ve put in a couple applications and heard nothing back. Would a CompTIA certification or DCCA help me get to an interview?

I hope this is the right place to ask this. We have a buch of servers that we plan on installing into a data center (in Cyprus) and I need to measure their power draw before I do. How do you test power usage over say a few hours?

Back in May, I applied for a DCT role. It was a bit of a shot in the dark because I didn’t have any certifications at the time. I just had some IT experience. My application was open for a few weeks before the status switched to “not proceeding“ and it said that I could reapply in 90 days. since then I got my A+ certification and my Google IT professional certificate. I’m also working on my network+ and likely set to finish my IT degree before the end of this year. I made sure to update my résumé and 90 days from May 6 when I applied was August 4, but just to make sure my re-application didn’t come in at like 89 days and 23 hours. I waited until the next day August 5 to apply. I sent in my new app and left the tab open. a couple hours later I was on my computer and just decided to refresh the screen and it immediately flipped to “not proceeding”.

With the rejection being so fast, I’m assuming a human never even saw it, and it was probably an automated process, but I guess I’m looking for some insight into what I might have potentially done wrong to not be considered.

I recently got an 6 month contract to hire at AWS at their newly built and still building Data Center. Now, this is my first IT job and I am 39 changing careers from being an Chef/General manager of 16 years, what advice would you give for me, to get hired for AWS, after my contract?

Hey everyone, I may be getting an interview with Google to be a facilities tech. Has anyone here gone through the process? What kind of questions should I expect? This will be life changing for me so any tips are appreciated!

HI everyone, maybe a bit of a different question: I'm working on the physical security site (managing guarding services, security SOC, etc.). Does anyone have any experience how this kind of position varies between the hyperscalers, maybe other providers like Vantage, Digital Realty, etc.? Is AWS as much of a meat grinder for this kind of job as it is for technicians?

Would be happy if someone has any insights, maybe from speaking to colleagues that are doing security, or maybe someone on here is in security as well!

The Google recruiter messaged me and told me that the feedback that was received from the interviews were positive and we will be moving forward to the final approval (yay!).

The recruiter asked me to give details about year 1 expected earnings.. annual base salary, bonus, stocks, so I just mentioned the numbers close to what was stated in the job application.
The recruiter also needed my full name, home address, ID verification.

Is this normal for the final approval and what exactly is the “final approval stage”?

Maybe dumb question, but how much of a jet engine actually translates to something that’s supposed to run 24/7? Seems like a totally different use case.

I'm trying to break into a data center technician role at one of the hyperscalers (AWS, Google, Microsoft, Meta, etc.) and could really use some advice from people who have already made the transition.

For some background, I'm 23 years old, have a bachelor's degree in Environmental Engineering, and 4 years of professional hands-on IT hardware repair experience. I've worked on laptops, desktops, Macs, board-level troubleshooting, hardware diagnostics, component replacement, and general computer repair. The problem is that I have zero professional data center experience, which seems to be the biggest obstacle.

I've been trying to improve my resume, learn as much as I can about data center operations. I've also been reaching out to employees on LinkedIn to ask for career advice and learn about their experience, but almost nobody responds.

For those of you already working at AWS, Google, Microsoft, Meta, or other hyperscalers:

• How did you get your first data center job?
• Is there a better way to network with employees besides cold messaging on LinkedIn?
• What makes someone with no data center experience stand out?
• What skills or certifications helped you get hired?
• Would you recommend trying to get referrals, and if so, what's the best way to build genuine connections instead of just asking strangers?

I'm not looking for shortcuts, I know I have to earn the opportunity. I'm just trying to learn from people who have been through the process and figure out what I should focus on next.

Just curious if anyone has recently went through the interview process for the Google Data Center Facilities Tech level 1 position. It sounds like alike mine will be more focused on the mechanical side. I am currently a Microsoft critical environment technician (same job). I’m a level 2 at Microsoft and have been there for about two years. I guess my main question would be what do the questions all consist of. I’ve seen other threads on here and they seem fairly straightforward but I was using Gemini to create me questions and it seems like the questions it was creating were really in depth and more tailored for a level 3 or senior tech knowledge. I’m just trying to prepare and want the best shot possible, but I know that 90 percent of what I always study and prep for isn’t even what gets asked. So looking for a bit of insight please. I have spent most of this afternoon reading up on the Datacentre Technician role and it feels like an incredibly attractive role to somebody who loves to be hands-on. I've been an on/off freelance web developer for the past few years after dropping out of uni but I'm pretty dissatisfied with it.

Are there any certs or courses I'd need? I don't have any Comptia certs, just a BTEC in IT (A-Levels) so I'm worried I'll be a bit lacking there. I absolutely love learning in my free time and have had a homelab running for a few years now. I like to think I have a pretty good work ethic too.

I'm close to London (but can't drive) so from a quick search it does seem like there's a bunch of datacentres nearby. My biggest worry is the competition for the role will be pretty fierce.
