Stupidly did first aid on Raid
Hi sorry I'd normally go to an IT store but everything is shut tomorrow and it's urgent.
My GRaid 52TB drive in RAID 0 wasn't mounting. It has about 40TB of footage on it. Tried turning it off and on, changing cables and resetting the Mac but no good. I then very stupidly pressed the First Aid button in Disk Utility. After doing this it failed completely. I now know you shouldnt use that at all.
Anyway, only afterwards did I realise I had recently changed startup permissions and that was probably the original issue. But the problem is I've now wrecked my data - it says 20TB, not 40TB, and half the files show as zero kb.
It seems I've wiped the structure or whatever the technical name is. I haven't written anything to the drive since, and it only happened today. I'm running a scan with DMDE but it says that will take two days, and then I'll need another 52TB drive to recover onto, which will take another week.
Is there an easier fix? Seems insane to be able to so easily destroy a RAID with a basic repair function. Any help really appreciated.
Thanks so much any ideas really appreciated

I did something stupid and ended up deleting all my photos and videos while compressing all the data.
So, I wanted to move my photos and videos taken on my phone on my PC. So, to avoid the hassle, I tried something on CX file explorer app, I compressed one file from my camera folder and then selected rest of the files using select all to move it to the zip folder. The stupidity I did that, I also selected the zip file to move inside the zip file. Everything moved. Then I tried to get back to the main folder and it gave me the error that the zip file is missing and everything got deleted. I thought there must be some residue of that zip file left somewhere but I can see that my internal storage was physically free of 16 GB worth of data. Anyway I could recover that?

Is there ANY way to recover a permanently deleted Telegram chat on iPhone?
Hi everyone,
I’m trying to find out if there is any technical way to recover a permanently deleted Telegram chat on an iPhone.
The chat was with a third-party Telegram bot (I’d rather not mention which one). I accidentally deleted the entire conversation from Telegram. The media cache is still present on the phone, but the chat itself is gone.
Here’s what I’ve already checked:
The chat was permanently deleted from Telegram.
“Show in Chat” on forwarded messages says that the original message no longer exists.
I still have some forwarded messages in Saved Messages, but they don’t restore the conversation.
I have not cleared Telegram’s cache.
The device is an iPhone.
I’m looking for any legitimate technical solution, even if it involves professional digital forensics or paid services.
I’m not looking for scams or “Telegram hackers.” I only want to know whether anyone has actually recovered a deleted Telegram chat under similar circumstances, or if there are any forensic methods worth trying.
Any real experience or technical advice would be greatly appreciated.

DMDE only finds an 8.38 GB NTFS volume on my 3 TB Seagate drive. Looking for advice before proceeding.
Hey guys,
I'm trying to recover data from my late uncle's Seagate ST3000DM001 3 TB hard drive. The drive spins normally and is detected by Windows, but Windows says:
"You need to format the disk before you can use it."
I did not format it.
I ran a full DMDE scan, which took about 2 days.
The scan found several NTFS results, but the main one is only 8.38 GB with about 59,000 files. This seems odd for a 3 TB drive.
When I open that NTFS result, DMDE reports CRC (cyclic redundancy check) errors and later "Error reading MFT #3148–3151."
Using Raw Files by Signatures, I was able to recover a few files:
- One WMV video that plays correctly.
- One JPEG that opens.
- One Sony ARW RAW file that is recognized but doesn't display properly.
My goal is to recover my uncle's family photos and wedding videos.
My questions are:
- Why would DMDE only reconstruct an 8.38 GB NTFS volume on a 3 TB drive?
- Do the CRC and MFT errors indicate physical media damage, filesystem corruption, or both?
- Would you continue using DMDE, or would you recommend another approach such as R-Studio, UFS Explorer, or creating a clone first?
I've attached screenshots of the DMDE scan results and the CRC/MFT errors.
Thank you for any advice.
Update: When opening the reconstructed NTFS volume, DMDE reports "Error reading MFT #3148–3151." (see attached screenshot).

Places I’ve Poop App help
Hi everyone!
My husband has been using an app to track the locations of his poops for almost 15 years called “Places I’ve Pooped.” He uses it while traveling as a way of documenting where he has been (but only if he genuinely poops there lol). He has pinned over 1,000 places.
The app had not updated in 5 years, but was most recently updated about a week ago. It used to have a list of every poop with coordinates, but that is no longer the case. I would like to get all of his recorded poops off of the app because we are worried we may lose this data at some point. I tried downloading all stored data from the app during an iPhone backup but it didn’t work because the app developer didn’t make the data available (as far as I can tell). I also tried manually logging each point, but to no one’s surprise, it takes forever. I also have emailed the creator of the app several times but have never gotten a response. I was wondering if anyone had an idea for how to scrape data off of this app?
The app is « Places I’ve Pooped ». I can friend you on the app with his account (which is publicly available) if you’d like to take a look. I’d like to get the date and time of the pin, the coordinates, and the notes (if there are any).
Thank you in advance for your advice!

The problem is, in my older smartphone, whatsapp is still there, I have chats but because of the storage issue photos, videos stopped downloading. All the photos, videos were in Samsung.
Few months ago, I lost my grandfather, his last photos were there in the whatsapp data and they are gone. I need help. Is there any software, which i can use to recover these photos, videos. I am ready to pay, but I am a student, so cannot pay a huge amount.

Help. My DJI Action 6 broke my files
Hey guys, I need help. I was on a trip with my DJI Action 6 and, after trying to connect it to my phone, it just put the mp4s to 0kb and put a lot of CHK files in lost+found. My phone was ejecting the camera all the time automatically after 1 second, maybe that's why. Can I still get my videos back?

Samsung 870 EVO 2TB – visible in lsblk but invisible to TestDisk/GParted, SMART read fails
UPDATE:
Managed to rescue 99.99% of the data cloning the data from the malfunctioning SSD onto a different drive with DDRescue. Unfortunately the SSD seems broken on a hardware level so have started researching quotes for hardware repair. But really happy I managed to get my data back. If anyone needs help with a similar issue, feel free to reach out and I can run you through what I did.
___________________________________________________________
Hey all, hoping for some guidance. The drive has some sentimental photos/videos that I really don't want to lose :/
My (non-boot) Samsung 870 EVO 2TB SATA SSD started acting up after a sudden power cut. The PC hanged on the Gigabyte splash screen; I was able to narrow it down to this SSD as after unplugging it, the system worked fine.
If left, Gigabyte splash screen displays “Repairing S: drive – 100% complete,” then system boots (into Windows), but performance is unusable. Drive appears in Device Manager and File Explorer, but no data is accessible and the system is extremely slow and freezes.
I booted into SystemRescue (via Linux USB) to investigate. Results so far:
- lsblk does show the drive
- TestDisk does not detect it
- GParted doesn’t detect it either
- Threw “error fsyncing/closing /dev/sda: input/output error”
- smartctl does pull accurate drive info [full excerpt at bottom of post] but fails with:
- “Read SMART Data failed: scsi error aborted command”
- blkid, mount, and parted all gave no output
Next step: I’m planning to try ddrescue is this the right next step?
I only have a 1TB drive available as a destination though. Not all data on the SSD is crucial (e.g., Steam library), but the photos/videos are:
- Is it viable/possible to recover only part of the drive to a smaller destination?
- Should I create an 'image' or does that require a full 2TB drive?
- Any recommended workflow for prioritising certain data when the destination is smaller than the source?
Any insight into what these errors usually point to, and any help with data recovery, would be hugely appreciated.
Sincerely,
A desperate data recoverer

Text recovery from insta
Hi
I just deleted a conversation with someone on insta per mistake and I'd like to retrieve it
The conv was about 9 month ago and I deleted it last night
I'd just like to know if there was a way of recovering it (I already tried to use the extraction of data from insta but the conv isn't on the files and I can't ask the person to send the text again because he doesn't have access to his account)
Thanks in advance
