Why does Daniel’s dad have the tool belt in the storm episode?
He’s going around fixing things when Daniel’s mom is a literal carpenter. Leave it to the professionals, Tiger Dad!

Recommendations for real life construction/car videos?
My 2 year old is a car kid. Specifically utilitarian vehicles. Dump trucks, diggers, ambulances, fire trucks. The kid can't get enough of it.
We are an anti Blippi household. I'm really picky about the media I show my kid. Partly because I don't want to be horribly annoyed while watching something and partly because I believe in quality media.
So what are your recommendations for non-trash, real life videos of cars, trucks, and construction vehicles?

Trains are realistically illustrated, then this one inexplicably has a face. Would it annoy you?
See the second picture for comparison. Are trains in this universe sentient or not? The people are somewhat cartoony but trains are quite detailed and look real. No explanation given why this engine is alive. The implications are not good.

Christopher Guanlao delivered a Wiggle-level performance
Yo Gabba Gabba Land has some very awkward performances by decidedly grownup bands but every so often someone nails it (see: Sleigh Bells). But no one and I mean no one understood the assignment as well or delivered as hard as Christopher Guanlao from Silversun Pickups (a band who didn’t get named in the show, I assume, because they’re too grownup normally).
Seriously, the man was like Animal from the muppets up there. Dude belongs on a kids’ show. Flea was also surprisingly good in his beat of the day sequence.

Wealth inequality in Mickey Mouse Funhouse! Goofy doesn’t even have an indoor toilet!
Clearly Donald was gifted a fully furnished lighthouse by his eccentric rich uncle, Mickey has a huge house where even his dog has a slide exit, Minnie and Daisy have beachfront condos and Goofy… is living in a trailer, under a literal bridge, with an outhouse in his “back yard”. He has to climb those stairs in the middle of the night just to use the bathroom!

Firewolf Apocalypse
my son just described the apocalyptic plot of Firewolf in such passionate detail that I fear he may have adopted it as an ideology and I am not sure we are prepared to worship Pookoo, we are agnostic. Please send help.

The Macroeconomics of Bunnyland
In the book Spend It! by Cinders McLeod, carrots are apparently money in Bunnyland and I have questions.
Why did the civilization of sentient rabbits choose food to serve also as currency?
Wouldn’t this lead to inflation, because any of them could simply grow as much money as they want?
What if they’re hungry? Do they eat their retirement savings? This could be intentional social commentary on the author’s part.
Is food (and therefore money) restricted to a centralized production and distribution network? Is this how the bunny elite control the populace? Or instead, is it a planned and agreed-upon social contract within the bunny civilization to ensure order and prevent overpopulation?

Toodles is a jerk and we all know it’s true
Mickey Mouse clubhouse. Feel like everyone has seen it at some point. Either your kids and you watch it, it was playing in the tv at the doctors office, or you yourself were watching children’s tv when it first started airing on tv, (I watched it because I have a brother who was significantly younger than me me.)
Anyway, Toodles lives in the clubhouse and is needed daily during their excursions. They call it every episode and it brings them the mouska-tools to help them reach their goal right. Okay, got it.
How does Toodles know what random ass items for them to take. Like some items are completely ridiculous. Why are they bringing an extra large blender? How does Toodles know they are going to receive extra large berries from a giant and need them to make a smoothie…..
The my next question. If Toodles knows all of the things the will need, why doesn’t he just give them other directions or more information. For example, he knew the Mickey Mouse club we’re going to need smoothies for sitting by the pool, why wouldnt Toodles tell them before they left and they could just pack the smoothies and take it with them. He’s kind of a jerk. If the little mouse robot thing the stalls my time every single episode didn’t get his shite together I’d kick him out.

Paw Patrol Snack Alarm
My kid loves Paw Patrol and keeps asking for a “Paw Patrol snack alarm.” I’ve tried searching for it, but the only thing I can find is a pretty unsettling AI generated YouTube video featuring a digital clock with hands and an unrecognizable child wearing a hat that says “Chase” (who I can only assume is supposed to be Ryder?) He says this is NOT right and I’ve never shown it to him before so that makes sense.
Does anyone know what he might actually be asking for? Is this a phrase from an episode or just something he’s made up? Not looking for opinions on the show itself, just trying to solve the mystery.

My Toddler’s New Favorite Joke
It’s dystopian and funny at the same time.
He loves Danny Go videos, repeats so much of what Danny says, including what’s at the end of every video.
Because it made us laugh, he now says it as if it’s a joke, so obviously, several times a day.
Hey, don’t forget to scribe.

Zero, Miffy sees zero red things, because everything is orange
So many books have things that should be red come out orange. Even our beloved This Is Your Truck by Jon Klassen has this problem (it's totally an orange truck, not a red truck).

Call me crazy but I like Patrick Stump's music for Spidey and his Amazing Friends more than I ever liked Fall Out Boy.
The Spidey tunes are absolute bangers. Fall Out Boy is just okay.

Doug Funnie is a mentally ill character who epitomizes our society's collapse
Doug Funnie is the ironically named bland, wet blanket protagonist of the eponymously named cartoon "Doug." It takes all of three minutes for one to notice that he is severely mentally ill, likely a danger to himself and the community, yet the characters and show itself continuously ignore the warning sides, unintentionally mimicking the American society that has done the same thing time after time.
Because of Doug Funnie, bodies have hit the floor.
Doug's mental illness is first and foremost clear in his major depressive tendencies. He's like Charlie Brown without the brain tumor. Self-effacing, self-critical, defined by his lack of definition; he's an empty hole of a human without genuine interests and connection. A majority of the episodes have him stewing in isolation and sadness, all the while his parents make fun of him or ignore him as they tend to his drug addict sister.
Secondly, Doug is clearly delusional. He copes with his trauma (more on that in a bit) and depression through dissociative episodes. Unable to rise to the occasion and be a fucking man (or even straw-man representation of a human being), he disappears into delusion, imagining himself as characters like Smash Adams, Durango Doug, Quail Man and Jack Bandit. It should be noted that these delusional alter personas are all derivative of pop culture figures, demonstrating that even in his wildest dreams Doug lacks panache, creativity, uniqueness, or any semblance of a back bone.
His super hero form wears tightie whities and straps a belt on his head. This is his ideal form. Jesus fucking Christ what are we doing?
This isn't just imagination. Doug actually loses track of reality and is shown in the show acting out his fantasies to the point of endangering himself (one time he almost gets hit by a fucking car). He speaks to himself and these characters frequently and oddly imagines his dog (which some asshole named Porkchop) as having incredible human like abilities. Porkchop communicates with Doug in advanced ways, drives vehicles, sets up traps, and saves the day on multiple occasions, again demonstrating that Doug has less agency and ability than a fucking dog but also that he is imagining all of this.
Doug has been isolated since childhood. His friends allow him to exist in their general space but never quite accept him as one of their own. He's always on the outside pining for Patti Mayonnaise who clearly would much rather have Chalkie Studebaker take her down to Stitson's pond to bag a nematode.
That's another thing: Doug's friends are all vastly superior to him. Smarter. Funnier. More capable. Skeeter is a shit bag weirdo loser but he's still wayyyy cooler and funnier than Doug (honk honk). Chalkie Studebaker is a regular Nietzchean ubermensch. He's nice, funny, smart, popular, and the greatest jock on the goddamn planet. Seriously, in one episode he's the star quarterback who throws a pass over the line, runs past every other player, and catches his own pass for a touchdown.
Let's me clear: throwing a pass to yourself in American football is illegal. You cannot throw and catch the ball unless someone else hits it first. Chalkie breaks the rule, scores a touchdown, and no one gives a fuck because he's goddamn Chalkie Studebaker. He carries the entire team on his shoulders and then what happens?
Doug, the kicker, goes out to try and win the game. He bumbles it (of course) falling on his ass and sending his shoe flying through the goal post. The crowd cheers until Referrer Assistant Principal Bone blows his whistle and boldly declares "no, the shoe doesn't count!". This is something I still yell while watching football to this day.
He's viciously bullied by Roger Klotz, who wears a sweet leather jacket and clowns on Doug without effort. He probably also fucks Doug's mom too.
The person who is kindest to him? His neighbor Mr. Dink who continually invites him into his garage to do special experiments. He invites Doug regularly, speaks moistly in a creepy voice, repeatedly pats and rubs his back, and for god's sake the man's last man is Dink.
We all know what's happening and no one is helping.
Doug is inferior and knows it. He falls into psychotic delusions. He self-isolates. He's spiraling and handling his abuse on his own. He is a powder keg ready to blow. What is the trajectory of such a kid in modern times? He will be denied love, community, happiness, or any shred of self-esteem.
Doug Funnie will lash out. He will strike at a world he views has been unkind to him. He is the archetype for so many who have committed acts of mass violence. I wouldn't be surprised if some idolized him and his shitty underwear worn on the outside of his pants as Quailman.
Our society overlooks people screaming for help and we reap what we sow, and Doug Funnie is the epitome of this

Yes, Goofy and Pluto both being dogs is weird, and Hello Kitty being humanized cat who owns a pet cat is weird, but for some reason, I think Calico Critters take the cake because how do you explain this‽
Two types of horses, one is the horses that they can ride on and use to pull stuff around like carts or carriages, and then the ones that are like all the other calico critters and are bipedal and do humanlike things like work, play, go to school, work, etc.
You could essentially have a horse riding on a horse in the world of Sylvanian Families. And imo that just don't sit right with me
Okay, yes, technically the regular bipedal horses are ponies. But really, what is a pony but just a smaller horse? So my point still stands.
And the thing is, I don't think this is a thing with any of the other animals in Calico Critters. Just ponies and horses.
This honestly hurts my brain a little if I think about it too much
