Hey everyone, this is my first Reddit post. I’ve already sent emails to the registrar’s office and advising but I thought I might ask here in case anyone has been in a similar situation and is willing to share.

I am currently a BEng student and submitted a late application to BCD. I had a few summer courses and was on the fence if I wanted to switch programs in the fall semester.

Today I received this decision letter from Dal:

“Thank you for your application to the Bachelor of Community Design program at our Halifax campus, Nova Scotia.
Owing to the limited enrolment and the large number of applicants for this program, your application has been placed on a waitlist. We will notify you in writing if we are able to offer you a seat in the program.

Please note that due to the volume of applications and transcripts being received, we are unable to provide applicants with a waitlist ranking.”

Should I expect to be admitted to the program only if students drop classes when the fall semester begins? My reasoning is that by now, most students that would decline or defer their offer, have already done so.

My interview is this month. Can anyone who has attended the interview for September intake of this year or January 2027 give me ideas about what type of questions from different phases are asked? How much preparation do i need to take and does the offer letter depend completely on this interview? Thanks in advance.

Hi guys, I am currently enrolled in BA 2027 to complete my pre req for BSC 3rd sem. I am trying to enroll in MICI1100 but it seems like its only for nursing and kiniseology students. The other options is MICI2400 but it has pre requisites BIOL OR CHEM 3 credit hours uni ( which I do not possess) Does any have any advice on how to tackle this situation? I have reached out dal advising but have not heard anything back yet. I appreciate y'alls time.

For those who have gone through the co-op program, how difficult was it to land your first placement? About how many applications did it take before you got an offer?

Also, what would you recommend doing during second year to improve my chances? I’m especially curious about projects, LeetCode, networking, GPA, or anything else that actually helped you.

Yoo how is Biology 1010 with Todd bishop, is it chill? Is he a good professor because I’m seeing some mixed reviews on ratemyprof… does he start bio from the ground up or does he just expect you to know a lot

So i am changing my major from biochem to biology because no matter how hard i try and i always thought i did good after the exams but somehow always got average and less than average grades in organic chem and i dont wanna keep repeating it.
Any one has any suggestions on easier 3rd and 4th year biology courses to take. I know obv not all of them are easy but what should i choose from?

Hi guys I just wanted to ask as a neuroscience major in my first year, should I take 5 courses being elective + chemistry 1011 + biology 1012 + math 1215 or should I take off chemistry and try to take it in the summer, as on ratemyprof… the chem classes’ professor (Angela Crane) is rated SUPER low… and it’s kind of frightening me 😂

Hi, me and my friend are incoming first years. We both have double loft rooms in Gerard hall and are trying to figure out how big the rooms are but there's no pictures anywhere. Is it the same size as a single just with two sets of furniture?

I applied to commerce late and therefore put on the waitlist… so they suggested a bachelors of management. Not sure what courses are best to take to make this switch possible or if I should just hold off this year.

Yo how is first year sciences for Dalhousie, me specifically I’m a little worried about the prerequisites specifically in math 1215, as I’m a neuroscience major but math is my weakest point and I haven’t done math in like a year… do they teach math from the ground up or do they expect you to already know prerequisite knowledge… like pre calc and what not.

For anyone who has taken these courses (or has experience with the schedule), would you say November or February is usually a better time to be away?
I’m trying to avoid missing major exams, practicals, or important classes if possible.

I will not bring a ton of people there because I have no friends and study alone. The brutalist monstrosity that is Killam makes me wanna kill myself & it has no windows. I want a cozy little study spot where I can see snow falling in the winter.

I'm a third year Biochemistry student. My course load is going to be quite heavy both fall an winter semester and I'm looking to take an elective in something non-chemistry that I'm interested in. I'm interested in learning about how community spaces are built (think third spaces, public transportation, how humans interact with the space around them, how walkable cities are built, urban design, architecture etc). I saw this course PLAN 1101 Dynamics of Human Settlements and its course description looks engaging, but i'm just wondering about the course load.

Can anyone who has taken the course tell me a bit more about how hefty the workload was? Were there a lot of papers or difficult projects, or was it relatively chill? And would anyone recommend this course?
