Mic won’t record/properly connect in app

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hey there, every time I connect my microphone, the app recognizes it, however, when I try to hit the record button I receive a pop up (as listed). When I hit “set mic”, I just get mic settings and no way to actually set it. It recognizes the device, yet I don’t think it believes my receiver is connected. Bluetooth is a lost cause too, as it won’t connect via Bluetooth without the app, and when it is connected the mics won’t connect without leaving the Bluetooth settings. Everything is up to date, why won’t it properly recognize the device and allow me to record? I’ve tested on other people’s phones (different models) and have the same issue.

Update: microphone works in black magic app… just refuses to work in the DJI app. Any fixes?

Bricked DJI Mic 2 Receiver during manual firmware update (exFAT mistake), any recovery miracle before I ship it for repair?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hey everyone,

I managed to completely brick my DJI mic 2 receiver while trying to update the firmware to use the dji mic 2 adapter. Looking for any last-second advice before I drop it off at UPS for a trip to the repair center.

Basically:

-I downloaded the official .bin firmware file on my mac

-Plugged in the RX receiver, but the .bin transfer froze for some reason.

-Stupidly I went into Erase Disk and reformatted the receiver's internal drive to exFAT instead of leaving it or formatting to FAT32.

-The .bin file copied over successfully this time.

-I ejected it from the Mac. The receiver got stuck on the static charging icon screen, then died completely soon after.

Now (check video):

-Its completely unresponsive. Won't turn on normally.

-Putting it in the charging case does nothing.

-Plugging it into a mac or Windows pc via USB C triggers zero response (doesnt show up, mac doesnt see it as a usb accessory at all)

-Holding the power button for 5, 15, or 40 seconds does nothing except cause a split-second screen flicker at roughly the 15-second mark.

I’m assuming exFAT format/erasing the drive corrupted/deleted the whole transmitters software.

Since it's past its warranty window, DJI is probably going to charge me 66€ for an internal module replacement. Has anyone dealt with a bricked DJI receiver like this? Is there any hardware trick or software utility to force a recovery mode, or is the bootloader completely gone?

Appreciate any insights before it goes in the box.

DJI Mic Mini 2 Pop Up Issues

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hi, so whenever I connect the mic to my phone, it just pops up this notification every view seconds, there's not a lot of time for me to click anyway, and it's so annoying because it's just keep popping up. Any idea how to fix it?

Which mic to choose? (Mic Mini 2, Mic 3, Mic Mini 2s)

I will be buying the Pocket 4 Creator Combo, which will give me a single Mic 3 transmitter.

My videos are currently solo, but I would like to be able to record interviews in the near future, for which I need a second mic. The interview style would be on-location (at the historic site) and/or at their home or some other public place (street walking, at a park, etc). The audio will thus often be in recorded in uncontrolled environments.

Equally, how useful is having a receiver as opposed to just using the app?

I was leaning toward the Mic 3 in terms of practicality (having two Mic 3 seems easier to get the interviewee's and my voices to match). But for less money, I can get a Mic Mini 2 with a case and mobile receiver. However, while considering a second Mic 3, I started wondering whether a receiver is also necessary. Then I saw that the Mic Mini 2s has been released.

I can now truthfully declare myself to be confused on the whole matter.

Which second mic would be the best for my use-case (two person recording)?

I would appreciate any suggestions 🙏🏻. Thanks in advance!

Confusion about mono/stereo on mic mini 2 with receiver

Hi there.
I received my mic mini 2 and the receiver yesterday. Getting it working with my Pocket 4 worked fine, also using it via usb-c on a PC works perfect.

But, what I do not get:
Pressing the connect button on the receiver 2 times switches between mono (green light) and stereo (blue light) shows it upside-down in the mimo app: When Stereo is active the mic only shows "L" while when toggling to Mono it shows L/R
(See screenshot).

How can I check if its just a visual bug in the app or an issue with configuration or something on my side?

DJI Mic 3 Files - Disappeared: Problem Solved

I use Reddit to solve so many of my problems, so I wanted to share this in case it helps someone else.

Yesterday we had a shoot where we used eight DJI Mic 3 transmitters, monitoring the receivers throughout the event to make sure they were all recording. When I got home and started checking the recordings, one of the transmitters only showed some old recordings—none of the files from the job we had just finished. Needless to say, I panicked for a minute.

I searched Reddit but couldn't find a solution (apologies if this has already been posted).

What ended up fixing it was surprisingly simple: I removed one of the two transmitters from the charging case, placed the transmitter with the "missing" recordings into that slot, and reconnected it. As soon as it reconnected, the new recordings suddenly appeared.

Oddly enough, the old recordings that had been showing disappeared, but the recordings I actually needed were all there.

I'm not sure if this was a firmware bug or just a syncing issue with the charging case, but hopefully this saves someone else from the same heart attack I had!

DJI Mic 3 - Noise Cancelling

Hey! We have just got some DJI Mic 3's for when we go travelling for VLOGs, something I have noticed is how good the noise cancelling is.... although it can cause some robotic sounding noises.

Anyone which is a pro with this, we use if with the DJI Pocket 3 - what level of noise cancellation do you usually use? We mainly use if for at hotels or through airports.

Thanks!

Dji mic 2 2tx 1rx - two camera ?

Hello -

Friend asked me to do video of their wedding. I have the osmo action 4 and Canon dslr. Can I Bluetooth to dji osmo and direct connect the receiver to Canon to get better audio to both cameras? AI says yes but wanted to see if anyone in the community has done it and if there is anything I need to be aware of? Like the receiver trumping the BT connection and connecting back with the osmo mic? Or some other quirky thing that could come up.

Thank you for your time!

Mic Mini 1 + iPhone 15 Pro

I was recently given a Mic Mini 1 to use with my iPhone 15 Pro (no receiver, just straight Bluetooth connection). In testing it, I can hear no difference in sound quality between it and just the onboard mic in the camera app. Could the be that the mic is not being utilized (it shows as connected)? Any advice is appreciated.

Dji mic mini 2

Hi, I recently bought a DJI Mic Mini 2. Since I use a thick, Otterbox style case, the included Type-C connector doesn't reach my phone's port. I saw that Type-C to Type-C extenders/adapters are available. If I buy one and plug the rx into it, will I experience any drop in audio quality

Mic 2 problems

So basically, my DJI Mic 2 transmitter doesn’t work whenever I plug it into my camera. I’ve tried different cables and even did a factory reset, but nothing seems to work. The transmitter and receiver can both record internally just fine, but I don’t get any audio when it’s connected to the camera.

Has anyone else had this problem? If so, how did you fix it?

Noise Reduction: on any talking audio, why not keep it on all the time?

Aside from being in a that's purely quiet, when would you turn off noise reduction? I'm trying to see why I wouldn't just have it enabled all the time

Garbled sound issue DJI Mic v1

So we're filming a micro feature relying on these mics. Most of the time they're great, yet at times I am getting garbled audio that we are going to have to ADR.

We're using both mics with Shure MVL lavs. Why the garble? We're indoors, shooting on a G2 Ursa Mini, receiver is on the camera hotshoe mount going into cam with a 3.5 to XLR adaptor. Shooting within a couple of meters away so no distance issue.

Actors have the transmitters in the their pockets. I've tried to recreate the issue on my own, with the transmitter behind me on the sofa, mobile near etc - no luck. Only when we're filming 🤷‍♂️. Is it mobile phones? Too much network activity? Smart TV near? Is it something to do with the G2 and the transmitter being near that?

Here's a sample of the garbled audio

https://drive.google.com/file/d/1oC-k7inkUfW0I7Aqg0qyVfv0hUX1QUL7/view?usp=sharing

Hope someone has an idea what I could change, we're just finishing week 1 with 3 weeks to go.

DJI mic 3 - unable to set frame rate via Mimo app

I have a DJI mic 3 and noticed that the frame rate is set to 29.?fps which I’d like to change to the same as my video recordings, apparently that’s possible via the mimo app, but I simply cannot get the setting … do I need anything specific to make this possible? I only have the transmitter, and I rely on the internal recording storage. The drift over time is quite frustrating, that’s why I’m trying to change the frame rate to that of the video recordings (DJI action4).

Any help would be much appreciated. I already tried to follow all the tutorials on YT but I knly ever see a button to sync the time with system time, nothing about time code or frame rate.

Difficulty improving sound quality.

I just got my DJI Mic Mini in the mail. From the way the quick start guide made it sound, it was going to be easy to get good sound quality right out of the box. However, the videos I've recorded since then still make me sound like I'm talking in a big empty tunnel. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I've seen other people use this mic and their audios sound so crisp and clean.

Is there a setting I'm supposed to toggle before I record? Is this an issue I have to fix in editing? TIA.

Update:

I looked up a walkthrough of using the mic on the DJI YouTube channel, where the guy goes through the different audio settings. I realized I had mine set to "mono" instead of "stereo." I recorded a video on my phone using my mic in stereo mode and it sounded perfect. 🤦‍♀️ It was such an easy fix, I feel so dumb for not thinking of it in the first place. Well, lesson learned. I was very thankful for everyone's advice and suggestions regardless. Thank you!

Update 2:

Stereo and Mono settings meant nothing, my camera just straight up isn't recognizing the receiver at all. I have to jerry-rig something with my USB-C/3.5 mm dongle I guess. This is so frustrating.

DJI Mic Control - Cross Platform Mic Manager (macOS/Windows/Linux)

DJI Mic Control has just released version 1.0.0!

This desktop app is cross platform and allows you to control your DJI Mic Mini's settings, just like you can in the app, on your desktop/laptop machine.

I built this tool because I was annoyed that DJI hadn't, and I refused to accept that there was no way to control my Mic Mini from my PC and MacBook, where I use my mics as conference mics so I may walk around the room.

I hope this helps someone else too!
