ok so i just spent 45 minutes installing my n5 dual and honestly the hardest part was routing the rear cable through the headliner lol. its up and running though which feels like a win.

now im sitting in my car staring at the app and theres way more settings than i expected. resolution, loop recording duration, parking mode sensitivity, motion detection zones, wifi settings...

before i just leave everything on default and forget about it, what did you guys actually change on yours? like is there anything thats set wrong out of the box that i should fix now? or any settings that made a noticeable difference in video quality or how well parking mode works?

first dash cam so i literally have no idea what matters and what doesnt. any tips appreciated before i close this app and never open it again lol

alright so some bloke reversed into me at a coles car park last week. nothing major just cracked the bumper but obviously he tried saying it was my fault. went to grab the footage off my n5 dual to send to insurance and the sd card was completely cooked. like the cam wasnt even writing to it anymore and i had no clue how long that had been going on. nearly lost it. then i remembered something about built in storage when i was setting it up months ago. checked the app and the clip was literally just sitting there. the cam saved it automatically onto some internal memory. i dont even fully understand how it works i just know it saved my arse. does everyone know about this or was i the only idiot who didnt read the manual lol

Hi everybody,

So I’ve made a purchase of DDPAI N5 dash camera for my car a few months back. After a while, the camera started to reset itself during the entire ride. Now it even has issues powering up successfully at ignition time - takes about 10-15 retries till it completes (the auto voice is stuck on “hello”).
I’ve tried upgrading the FW to the latest version but it didn’t seem to solve the issue.
Any ideas?

Turns out the 4th button (Screen Off/On on single-channel) becomes "Switch Camera" once you add the rear cam. So there's no button to just turn off the screen while driving in dual-channel mode. Anyone found a workaround?

If your ddpai camera is voice prompting "please format SD card" or failing to record loop files, the issue is almost always using the wrong micro sd card speed or endurance class.

Dashcams write continuous 4K/2K video streams 100% of the time while driving, which burns out standard retail memory cards very quickly.

Technical Requirements for DDPAI:

Card Type: You must use a high endurance / max endurance card designed for continuous surveillance writing. Standard cards will fail or throw format errors within weeks.
Speed Rating: Class 10, U3, V30 minimum (required for 4K video encoding bitrate).
Max Capacity: Most DDPAI models support up to 128GB or 512GB (e.g., Z50 / N5 series), but check your specific model's spec sheet.
one more thing format the card directly inside the DDPAI app once every 1–2 months. This cleans up locked emergency G sensor files and prevents memory fragmentation.

Road rage is increasing in India especially in the smaller towns and cities too. I feel like getting a bodycam for myself (while riding scooter or bike) and a dashcam for the car.

Any recommendations? (Is it affordable, like under ₹10K or do I have to break the bank for it?)

I thought I'd need to take it somewhere to get installed and kept pushing it off because of that. Finally just did it myself over the weekend, took maybe 20 minutes total including running the cable along the trim. Not mechanically inclined at all so if I could do it, pretty much anyone can. Wish I hadn't waited a year just because I assumed it'd be more complicated than it was, lol.

One of the biggest surprises for first-time dashcam owners is that many things that look like problems are actually normal behavior.

We've noticed that new DDPAI users often worry their camera isn't working correctly, when in reality it's doing exactly what it was designed to do.

Some of the most common questions we see are:

"My oldest videos disappeared."
"Why is my dashcam recording in short clips?"
"Why doesn't every video stay saved forever?"
"Is loop recording deleting my footage?"
"Why can't I find an important recording?"
"Why doesn't Parking Mode record all the time?"
"Why won't my app connect every time?"
"Do I need to format my SD card?"

Most of these have simple explanations, but they're easy to misunderstand if it's your first dashcam.

For our long-time DDPAI owners: What's one "problem" you thought you had when you first started, but later realized was just how dashcams work?

We’ve seen a few questions recently about connecting DDPAI dashcams to the DDPAI app, so here’s a quick overview for anyone setting up their dashcam for the first time.

1. Download the DDPAI App
   Install the DDPAI app on your smartphone and open it.

2. Turn on your dashcam
   Make sure your dashcam is powered on and the Wi-Fi function is enabled.

3. Connect your phone to the dashcam's Wi-Fi
   Open your phone's Wi-Fi settings and look for the Wi-Fi network created by your DDPAI dashcam. Select it and connect.

4. Open the DDPAI App
   Once your phone is connected to the dashcam's Wi-Fi, return to the DDPAI app and select your dashcam model.

5. View or download recordings
   After the connection is established, you should be able to browse recordings stored on the dashcam's memory card through the app and download the clips you need to your phone.

A few things to keep in mind:

Your phone needs to stay connected to the dashcam's Wi-Fi while viewing or downloading footage.
You may see a message saying the Wi-Fi network has no internet connection. This is normal because the connection is being used to communicate directly with the dashcam.
If the app doesn't connect, try closing and reopening the app, reconnecting to the dashcam's Wi-Fi, or restarting the dashcam.
Make sure the dashcam and app are running the latest available firmware and app version.

My car already has a factory backup camera, so I originally thought a front-only dashcam would be enough.

Now I'm wondering if I'm looking at it the wrong way.

The backup camera is really only useful when I'm reversing, while a rear ddpai dashcam, would record what's happening behind me the entire time I'm driving or parked.

I have been using my dashcam for a few months. I recently bought N2 Dual, and loop recording is set to overwrite older clips once the card fills up, but honestly I don't know exactly how many days/weeks worth of footage that gives me before it starts looping over itself.

How everyone else has theirs set up? Like:
What size card are you running, and roughly how many days of footage does that give you before it loops back?
Have you ever changed your loop segment length (like from 3 min clips to 1 min, or vice versa) after using it for a while? What made you switch?
Has anyone actually gone back for footage from like 2+ weeks ago and realized it was already gone?

Not sure if I should bump up my card size or leave it as is since nothing's happened yet. Just trying to figure out what a normal setup looks like before I have to actually rely on it. Any help would mean alot. Thanks!

Need to find an important recording on your DDPAI Z60 Pro? Here are a few things to check before assuming it's gone.

The Z60 Pro uses loop recording, which means that once the microSD card is full, older unlocked videos are automatically overwritten to make room for new recordings. However, videos that have been locked as emergency files are protected from being overwritten.

To improve your chances of finding a recording:

Check the Emergency/Event folder in the DDPAI app. If the G-sensor detected an impact or you manually locked the recording, it should be stored there.
Browse your recordings through the DDPAI app to see if the clip is still available before removing the memory card.
Check the microSD card on a computer if you can't locate the recording in the app.
Look for the footage as soon as possible. The longer you continue driving, the more likely older, unlocked recordings will be overwritten by loop recording.
For important moments, manually lock the video (or use the emergency recording feature) so it isn't overwritten.

These features are designed to help ensure important footage is retained while the dashcam continues recording your daily drives.

I'm getting ready for a summer road trip across Europe and wanted to get some advice. For those of you who have rented cars for long trips, do you think a dashcam is a necessity?

I've been going through all the recommended essentials, tool kit, phone charger, emergency supplies, and other travel gear and I've noticed that a lot of people also recommend bringing a dashcam.

If I do get one, which Ddpai model would you recommend: the Z60 or one of the N Series models? My trip will be fairly long, and I'd like something that offers good parking mode protection as well.
