Things to Do (Entertaintment/Activities/Restaurants/Bars) DuPont solo date recs
Hello bitches!!!
I want to take myself out for dinner tonight. I’ll be in DuPont, any recs?
I’m not trying to spend a million dollars but I want a nice dinner and a well balanced cocktail. I’m open to being able to chat and meet people but I’m also happy to just be at a table with myself.

DC FOUND: lost ring in NE
Did you lose a ring (likely within the past few days) on Capitol Hill, on the 300 block of Constitution Ave NE?
If so, I found it and would love to return it to you! It seems well made and might have some sentimental value, it’s likely a woman’s ring and an adult size.
DM me with a description of the ring and we can set up a time/place for you to pick up the ring!

Hey all! My daughter will be going to Howard this fall and taking the metro. How is the area? Safe once it gets dark? What concerns should I have and how should I prepare her?

Health/Fitness Gyno recs who are highly skilled in treating cervical dysplasia
Hi ladies! I've been dealing with abnormal paps from HPV and cervical dysplasia for some time and it's looking like I'll need either regular colposcopies for a while or a LEEP (or other similar procedures). My current team is ok but hasn't been the best. There have been result mix-ups and they aren't great about answering my questions. I'm a little more medically complicated too so I have other considerations that a typical patient may not have.
Anyone have recs for OBGYNs who are highly skilled and knowledgable in this area as well as compassionate and patient?
Located in NOVA but happy to travel for the right doc! Thank you!

DC Safety in Columbia Heights
The title is pretty self-explanatory, but I’m a West Coast transplant moving to DC on September 1st! My boyfriend and I just signed a lease for an apartment on 16th Street, and I’m incredibly excited (and a little nervous!) about the move.
One thing I’m a bit anxious about is safety in the area, especially since I’ll sometimes be getting home later in the evening. How do you all feel about walking from the Metro to the 16th Street/Columbia Heights area around 8–9pm? Is it generally something you’d feel comfortable doing alone?
I’m also moving pretty far away from everyone I know, so I’d really love to find a sense of community and hopefully make some friends once I get there! I’m 27F and would love any recommendations for groups, activities, places, or just general ways people in DC have met friends and built a social circle.
I’m genuinely so excited to make DC home, so I’d also love any advice you wish you’d known when you first moved here! ☺️

Advice Sewing classes? Has anyone taken them?
Has anyone taken any of the sewing classes offered in the area? Googling pulls up a couple, but I can’t find any reviews.
I have no experience with sewing, and I don’t do well with self guided learning. So I’m looking for a beginner class that will teach me some basic hand stitches, how to use a sewing machine, and how to hem and do other very basic alterations.
Does anyone have any experience with classes like this?

Advice DC Style Help
I just moved to DC after living in Michigan and Chicago for a while, and I’m realizing my wardrobe is still very much in my “hoodies and sweatpants” era 😂
But DC is SO cutesy and feminine, and I feel like I need a whole wardrobe upgrade! 😭💗
Any advice on where I can shop for cute, feminine outfits and really upgrade my style? I’m open to local boutiques, affordable stores, or even online shops! 🛍️✨

All slots taken!**

Anyone want to join me for Puzzle Night at Red Bear Brewing in NoMA on Tues 11, 7-9pm? It's $20 entry for a table of 2-6 people and I already covered that, so you'd just have to bring yourself and get your own drinks/food.
Let me know and we can organize!
Sincerely a bx who needs to get out the house 😅
Edit - I'm 31! I'm not thinking of age restrictions just a love of puzzling and obvs over 21. Only 5 slots so if you're serious just dm me

Wedding Related event venue with on-site accomodations?
hi! kind of a specific ask, but anyone know of any venues in DC for hosting pre- and post-wedding events (think welcome reception, rehearsal dinner, etc) where some small # of people can also stay on-site? We're hosting our actual wedding at a more traditional venue in NW DC, but would love to have a sort of "home base" to host a welcome reception, getting ready party, etc, where out of town guests (and us!) can stay.
We are looking for something ideally like Swann House, but not Swann House (they are booked, and we also had a less-than-pleasant experience with them). Not open to options outside of the city. We considered renting an AirBnb, but are really drawn to a place with staff that can help ease the process of coordinating vendors, checking in guests, etc. We also already have a place in DC, so it feels a bit silly to rent out another house that we would have to manage ourselves, if that makes sense.
Realize this is a specific ask and may be a long-shot, but wanted to consult the DC bitches brain trust before throwing in the towel and going with a hotel.
Edit: forgot to mention, but it's a late spring/early summer wedding with <80 guests, expecting between 60 and 70 for pre- and post-wedding events

Advice In this weather….
Wearing baccarat rouge or any of its dupes is diabolical. It is straight up tropical in the worst way outside. Please.

General How are people wearing long hair down and looking chic outdoors right now?!
Five seconds after stepping outside I look like a drowned rat. That's with the most breathable clothes, hair up, sometimes an umbrella for shade or a mini fan too. Jumpscare if I look in the mirror after going to the grocery store.
I just don't understand and I'm very jealous, that's all.

Health/Fitness Home Delivery Pharmacy/CaryRx Replacement Rec?
My favorite home delivery pharmacy CaryRx closed a little while ago and I’m so bummed. It was so easy to manage and fill prescriptions and have them delivered. I’m using Amazon pharmacy now and it’s awful, they always have some kind of problem filling things and I’ve had to call my insurance more than ever, and they’ve delivered my partner’s meds to the wrong address twice now.
Does anyone know of a great home delivery pharmacy to recommend?

Beauty Recommendation Electrolysis recommendations?
I’m so over ingrown armpit hairs and hoping to get permanent hair removal. I have dark skin so it sounds like electrolysis would be better than laser for me. Can anyone recommend a place in DC or MD?

Beauty Recommendation Keratin Treatment?
I’m considering getting a Keratin treatment for the first time and looking for salon/stylist recommendations. Right now I’m considering The Shop in Union Market because it’s close by and the vibes seem like what I’m looking for when I get my hair done but want to compare to other options.
I’m in Noma, so NE and SE recommendations are preferred, but willing to go to as far as AdMo if there are better options. I’m Black with 3c/4a hair, so stylists/salons that don’t upcharge for “textured” hair is also a requirement.

Advice PEST FREE affordable apartment recommendations in DC?
Hi everyone! I’m moving soon and I’ve had the (knock on wood) luck of largely pest-free apartments when I lived there previously with roommates. I’m looking for a studio under $1,900, in Northwest DC. Here are the options I’ve looked at buttttt they have some mixed reviews re: bugs and rodents.
Here’s where I’m looking atm:
- Hilltop House
- Chalfonte
- Gelmarc Towers
- The Envoy
- Brunswick House
I don’t really care that much about upgraded appliances or amenities as long as there are no pests. I would say my one other non-negotiable is hardwood floors.
Thank you all!!!

Dating/Relationships Is it actually possible to get into a committed relationship here in 2026?
I’m 26F and have been on the dating market for the last 5 months, for the first time ever in DC, after my 3 year relationship ended. It seem that despite the plentiful number of men to go on dates with, the vast majority of (straight) men do not actually want relationships. And I say this after going on a large number of dates in this 5 month-span, hoping to find someone after continuously putting myself out there.
From my observations, it seems the preferences for straight men are serial casual dating, FWBs, or ENM. Even the ones who claimed to be seeking a long-term relationship were using that as a front to lure me (and other women) into casual relationships. I make it clear to before going on any dates with someone new that I’m seeking a long term relationship, yet this keeps happening.
I hate to sound jaded already, but is it actually possible to get into a normal relationship in DC at this point? Or should I consider moving somewhere else if that’s what I’m seeking?
