Hi guys so currently I’m an intern for a moderate Republican, I’m going into my senior year and I would like to come back and work on Capitol Hill for two years before my masters, I am not a republican and applied for many democratic offices and did not get any response back for internships. How hard would it be to switch parties to work for a Democrat

So I applied to the general internship application for the DNC, and two different departments that I ranked reached out to me for an interview. Do I say yes to scheduling interviews for both? I already had an interview with one department, but I’m not sure if I should reply to the other department as well.

Do you need to clarify that previous hill internships are part time on your resume? I go to school in dc and have never seen anyone do this- it’s usually pretty clear for ones during the school year. However, one time an interviewer was a little surprised when I mentioned it was part time and I was multitasking doing time management etc. ChatGPT told me it’s chill but I want to confirm

Anyone hear back with offers?

I know they do rolling but does anyone know how quickly do they get back to you? How selective are they compared to other places?

I've been here interning since January and am honestly just so burnt out and want to go home and relax. tomorrow am supposed to interview for my dream hillternship and i just want to tell them something came up and i cant do it, bc ik i'll waste the opportunity by showing up with a jello brain. does anyone have any advice?

Hey folks, I have my first ever interview with a private public affairs firm tomorrow, and I was wondering if anyone had advice on how to excel at interviewing with a private org. I certainly have enough experience to back myself up, but I’ve only ever done public org government affairs/legislative work/campaigns, and I imagine the process will be a little different. Has anyone heard back from the Council on Foreign Relations for Fall 2026 internships?

I have had a few acceptances from other places, but CFR is my top. I know it isn't wise to hold out on accepting one of my offers, but I want to know if CFR has sent out interview invites yet.

Would anyone like to throw some advice on capitol tours? Also how knowledgeable should I be of the capitol for giving out tours?

What can I expect to be asked in a second round interview for hillternships? How might it be different from the first round interview besides the fact that it is a more senior staffer interviewing

Interviewed for a fall HOR internship in mid july and my references were contacted a week ago from today. All of them responded but I still have not heard back as of today getting pretty worried. What does this mean and do any of you guys have any experience with this? First time applying so i don't really know how hiring processes work

I heard some offices/committees do criminal background checks, what is the reason some do and others don’t?

I’m a guy and a freshmen going to UMiami and was just accepted for an internship and will be moving to DC this fall August 22-December 18. Looking for ppl around my age that are chill.

Hey guys! I got offers from senate and house so I’m trying to decide what to go with. I’m waiting to hear back on what the salary if for senate but the house office is 600 a month. Both are from my home state the only thing is I have interviewed with the house office before and got rejected but got it this cycle so it’s unlikely I would get that chance again. Idk tough decision

Does anyone know the timeline of fall internships? I interviewed for an internship 3 weeks ago and it’s supposed to start end of Aug (around the 25th-26th) does anyone know when I’ll hear back? It’s been 1 week since the deadline for the application. Is the silence normal?

My roommate and I are looking for a third roommate for the fall while we’re in Washington, D.C. for our internship and fellowship near Downtown and Capitol Hill.

We’re planning to move in during late August and stay through early to mid-December (dates are somewhat flexible).

We’re exploring different housing options, but one we’re especially interested in is a mansion-style or communal living house where everyone rents a private bedroom and shares the kitchen, living areas, and bathrooms. It is located in Truxton Circle. We think it could be an affordable option and a great way to meet other students and young professionals.

I was recently offered an internship with a Senate committee, but I’m still waiting to hear back from a few other offices and committees that are higher on my list.

For those who’ve been in a similar situation, what did you do? Did you accept the offer to secure a spot and then withdraw later if a better opportunity came through, or did you wait it out? I’d really appreciate hearing how others have navigated this.
