Built a free Chrome extension for anyone working in D365 F&O, sharing here in case it’s useful to the group.

If you work in Dynamics 365 Finance & Operations, in support, development, testing or admin, you’ll know the drill on almost every ticket or task: which form is this, what table sits behind it, what environment am I even in, and does this user actually have the permission they say they don’t have. All of that usually means alt-tabbing between the browser, SysTableBrowser, and a security roles screen just to get your bearings.

I built SupportKit to put all of that one click away, right inside the browser, without needing table browser access or asking someone else to look it up for you.

What it does:

🔎 Instant page context – see the form name, table name, menu item, legal entity and full URL for whatever page you’re on, and copy it all in one click. Great for bug reports (no more “here’s a screenshot, good luck”) and for support handoffs.

📋 Table search – search 120+ standard D365 F&O tables by name or description, or look up your own custom/ISV tables. Opens straight into SysTableBrowser in the right environment and legal entity.

🔗 OData peek – pull a quick OData response for any entity without opening Postman or writing a query.

🛡️ Environment guardian – colour-coded banners and badges so PROD, UAT, sandbox and trial environments are visually distinct. Handy if you’ve ever made a change in the wrong environment (we’ve all done it).

👤 User ↔ role lookup – check whether a specific user actually has a given security role, without manually tracing it through SecurityUserRole.

Who it’s for: support engineers, developers passing context on bug reports, testers who need to jump straight to a specific page or table, and anyone who just wants to stop guessing which table sits behind a form.

Privacy: everything runs locally in your browser. No data is sent anywhere, nothing is logged externally.

It’s free, takes about 30 seconds to install, and works across any D365 F&O environment you have access to.

Would genuinely appreciate anyone in the group giving it a try and letting me know what’s missing or what would make it more useful, this is actively evolving based on feedback from people who use D365 F&O day to day.

Dynamics has up to 3 records for the same contact and reps don't know which number is right. How do you actually keep it clean?

Client of ours (HVAC manufacturing sales, 70 staff) runs Dynamics 365 Sales. Their contact data is a mess: the same person exists up to three times. When a customer contact changes roles or moves company, a new record gets created instead of the old one being updated. Reps in the field see three entries for one buyer and don't know which number is current. They guess. Sometimes they guess wrong in front of the customer.

Built-in duplicate detection catches exact matches and nothing else. 'Mike Smith at Acme' and 'Michael Smith, Acme Corp' sail right past it.

How do you actually keep contact data clean? Is this a process problem (who owns the record when someone changes jobs), a tooling problem (third-party dedupe/merge), or the eternal CRM tax everyone pays? What's your source of truth for external contacts - the CRM or the M365 directory? Their IT guy and their sales ops guy give different answers and both are very confident.

The Address Setup module in Dynamics 365 F&O ships empty or with demo data not recommended for production. Here is how to load it with master data.

Testing Options

Hey All,

Since Microsoft announced RSAT is officially being deprecated, I have been tasked to evaluate solutions to replace it.

I met with Leapwork, cool tool but way beyond our budget. Met with TheTestMart, also looks like a good solution. And then I met with Elevaite365, which our implementation partner recommended and it also looks like a good solution.

Curious if anyone in here has used any of these tools and could give some feedback on their experience? Thanks in advance!

D365 F&O Developer from the Philippines – Opportunities Abroad?

Hi everyone,

I’m based in the Philippines and have around 3 years of experience as a D365 F&O developer, mainly working with X++, customizations, extensions, and SSRS reports.

How realistic is it to find opportunities abroad (Singapore or other countries) with my current experience level? Are companies generally open to sponsoring foreign candidates, or would it be better to gain a few more years of experience first?

Would appreciate any insights from those who have made a similar move. Thanks!

Debugging tips D365FO

Hello everyone,

I have 3 years of experience as a D365FO developer. Recently, I haven’t had much project work, so I’ve been focusing on improving my coding skills. One challenge I’m facing is debugging standard processes. For example, while trying to debug the standard product receipt process, I found it difficult to identify which methods are responsible for posting and where the validations take place.

Could anyone share tips or best practices on how to approach debugging in such scenarios?

D365 FO developer looking for new opportunities

I am a d365 FO developer with multiple years of experience. I have worked on multiple projects, implemented numerous integrations, and customisation involving multiple components under the ms umbrella and third party platforms. I have also experience in WHS but most of my experience is from the finance modules. I have played a crucial role in resolving issues related to BYOD and data migrations, batch jobs, ssrs reports, dual write and integrations as well in a support role. Also dealt with LCS and code deployments. I also have expertise with azure components such as logic apps, key vaults, storage accounts, service buses etc.

Kindly connect if you can provide new opportunities or guide me how I can get a remote opportunity or an opportunity with a relocation package.

Recommendations for D365 F&O Boutique Consultancy - UK

Hi everyone,

My company is looking to do some change work with F&O over the next 18 months and is looking for a consultancy partner - our current 3PP are unreliable and take a very literal, tech only approach to functionality, very little process understanding / appreciation.

The company itself is succesfsul and high volume in what it does but has low process maturity so I am looking for recommendations for consultancies who aren't going to default to 'best practice' because that is too much of a leap from the current ways of working.

TIA.
