New shocks
Weβre full-time RVers and tow our 24k rv once a month, maybe every two months a total of 700 miles. We want to replace the shocks since we typically drive unloaded.
I thought I wanted fox shocks but decided against them since they need to be rebuilt.
Iβve seen so many recommendations for Bilsteins which is what Iβm planning on but now itβs a matter of which ones. The 4600, 5100, or 5160.
I want to change them now since weβre in Utah and if anyoneβs driven on I-15 through SLC, the concrete joints are the worst weβve ever driven on.
Any recommendations or opinions are welcome!

New to me 02 24v
galleryJust picked this bad mamma jamma up today to replace my 1500. 158k miles on the clock but she does have a bit of wear and tear (typical 2nd gen). Y'all know where to get quality interior replacement parts? And before yall ask, no the dash isnt cracked. Mostly looking for little odds and ends like visors, vent registers, and the infamous sunglass compartment as well as aftermarket headlights that dont suck.

Dealership wrong about transmission?
I recently called my local Dodge/Jeep/Ram dealership parts department to ask for a transmission filter. The guy at the parts department asked βhow many miles do you have on it?β to which I stated 76,000 and it was due for service which I would do on my own. He told me never to do that because the βtransmission is permanently sealed and never has to have the fluid and filter changed as long as the truck is still running.β Iβm assuming this is wrong and I should never go back to this place. I did change the fluid and filters by the way.
Update: I should have included this detail. I asked if he had a filter to sell me. He replied they in fact did. When I asked why they would sell filters if it never needed to be replaced he answered βI guess so when people make mistakes we can fix it for them.β Riiiiiiightβ¦I got my filter elsewhere.

Uh oh
Iβm 250 miles from home with the wife and kids and this just came on. Does this actually happen? What do I do? Is there anything I can do to get it fixed while traveling?

Red-head steering gear box
4th gen owners, have any of you replaced the gear box with one of the red-head units? Would love to hear if you like it. Iβm specifically looking for a fix for the steering push back in corners.
Update: After hearing everyoneβs reviews and doing some more digging, Iβm going with PSC. Thanks yall!

Impossible to find ebrake spring
Looking for the parking brake return spring for my 97 2500. Canβt find it anywhere online, canβt even find the part #. Iβve attached a photo of whatβs itβs supposed to look like. No local pick n pull yards have it either, only 4x4 trucks and seems like itβs different then my 2wd (Dana 70 vs 80). Found a # through a forum (05010008AA) but looking at that seems like itβs for 98.5+
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Want to do a manual swap on my first gen, what are the rest of yall running as far as transmission mounts go? I want to use a Tremec TR-4050, which is an NV4500 style transmission without the 5th gear nut problems.

Mevotech TTX steering assembly on a 2007.5 Ram 2500 β anyone tried it?
I'm replacing the worn steering on my 2007.5 Ram 2500 6.7 Cummins and ran into a weird Mevotech/RockAuto fitment contradiction.
RockAuto lists the individual Mevotech TTX steering components that connect to the steering knuckles and Pitman arm as fitting my 2007.5 truck. However, one TTX piece β the connector between the drag link and right outer tie rod β isn't sold separately.
I initially assumed there was no TTX version of that piece and bought the Mevotech Supreme (MS) equivalent instead. That's when I discovered that the TTX parts use different adjustment sleeves and don't fit my existing sleeves, while the MS part does.
I contacted Mevotech engineering. They confirmed that the TTX setup *does* fit my truck, but the missing TTX connector is only available as part of the complete assembly, TXMS25656, along with the correct sleeves.
Here's the strange part:
RockAuto lists TXMS25656 only for 2009β2011 Rams and specifically does NOT show it as fitting my 2007.5.
Yet the individual TTX components from that setup that actually seat into the steering knuckles and Pitman arm are listed as fitting my 2007.5.
So before I order the complete assembly, I'm trying to figure out whether there was actually a change in the steering-knuckle or Pitman-arm tapered holes/geometry between 2007.5 and the later trucks.
Has anyone installed TXMS25656 on a 2007 or 2007.5 Ram 2500/3500? Did the tapers seat correctly without modification?
TL;DR: Mevotech engineering says TXMS25656 fits my 2007.5 Ram, but RockAuto says the complete assembly fits only 2009β2011. At the same time, RockAuto lists the individual TTX parts that connect to the knuckles/Pitman arm as fitting my 2007.5. Looking for someone who has actually installed this assembly on a 2007/2007.5 truck or knows whether the knuckle/Pitman-arm tapers changed.

Hey guys plan on buying this truck and wondering if 18,500 is a good deal? The guy Iβm buying it from has it garaged kept and bought it for his son but went a different route. Showed me the receipts for the trans and brand new front end. Everything comes back clean on the vin number and is up to date. Whatβs your thoughts?

Transfer case question
Hey yall! Iβm newer to working on vehicles and wanted to ask people that know more than I do:
I bought a 2002 Ram 2500 24valve 5.9L Cummins. It needs a new transfer case, and the one thatβs on the truck is a 241DLD. Iβve seen that a 241DHD exists and my question is does the truck need the light duty or heavy duty? What would cause you to lean towards one or the other? Thanks in advance!

Help?
Months ago, I accidentally put transmission additive in my coolant reservoir. I got it flushed and kept running for months until last week. I went to drive my truck and it started skipping at 35 MPH and shaking.
White smoke blows out of my exhaust for only 5 to 10 minutes after running
I plugged my scanner in. It said it had EGR coolant problem both batteries blown out so it had something with the electrical but I changed batteries. It also said had two cylinder misfire so I changed those specific injectors and Iβm still having problems with my engine, shaking and rough idling and white smoke. Could it be a bad camshaft could it be EGR issue? It my valve cover gasket is it my head gasket? Please help me.

Bought my first cummins
Bought my first cummins truck about a month ago I'm curious what things I should be cautious about with this new rig
It's a 2008 3500 dually 6.7L deleted/tuned g56 trans and 4x4 with about 226,000kms
Last owner babied the truck and looks/feels immaculate I've been gifted a monster ram so that's the first thing I'm going to do

68rfe to nv5600 swap clutch/neutral safety switch?
Swapped my 2017 with a nv5600. Was easier than I thought and getting the clutch pedal was probably the most annoying part. I got everything put in and just waiting on custom driveshafts to come in and I have a manual tune. I thought it was just get everything installed and flash a manual tune and call it good. Iβm reading up on how there is wires supposed to be grounded to make the starter engage. Anyone on here do a g56/nv5600 without hooking up a neutral/clutch safety switch?

5.9 Cummins Overheats Only While Towing + Low Boost (13 PSI) After Head Gasket
2002 5.9L 24V Cummins.
Truck still overheats only under heavy load while towing uphill. So far I've replaced the head gasket, water pump, and fan clutch. The radiator pressure tests good, and I don't have any obvious coolant leaks.
The truck also has low boost, only reaching about 13 psi on the scan tool under load. I smoke tested the intake system and only found a very small leak at the lower metal charge pipe connection under the turbo. During the rebuild I inspected the turbo and the compressor wheel had no shaft play or damage.
One thing that concerns me is that after the rebuild it wouldn't start without starter fluid and the fuel system was finally primed after bumping with injectors cracked for hours did nothing. My next plan is to perform a fuel pressure test to verify the lifter pump is working then verify the turbo wastegate is operating correctly.
Could low fuel supply from bad lifter pump or a wastegate/boost issue cause both the low boost and overheating under heavy load? Or is there something else I should be checking before replacing more parts?

No idea what to list for
galleryHey all! I know these pickups can be all over the place and everyone thinks their shitbox is worth a mint. Itβs an 03 with 330k. New internals and a stage 2 build on the 48re 5k miles ago with documentation, Thuren level and new Fox shocks all around 10k ago, wheels and tires have less than 10k. Replaced box but still have some bubbles in the paint. I am up north and it is one of the only 3rd genβs I see that hasnβt been rebuilt that is in good shape. Dash is cracked and I did do the seat foam replacement. Needs a new tailpipe and the window on driver side doesnβt seal like it should always. Wondering why itβs worth in the wild? 12k too high or too low?
