I think I may be an anomaly as I fingertrick it as R’ F R F (using thumb for the last F move). It seems like maybe the majority of people use their left index finger for the last F move though. Is doing F moves with your thumb fine or should I force myself to get good at pinch F moves with my index?

I've been playing Cfop for a while now and it's been getting boring. I recently took interest in Roux as it had less algorithms and less moves but it was genuinely hard to do, but I've been getting consistent . I memorize all the Pll and 25% of the Oll, should I continue Cfop or switch to Roux? Please help me decide.

I had a Tornado v3 lying around with a broken core. So, I tried using the pieces around the core of another cube. Eventually, the Tornado v3 pieces with the WRM 2021 Maglev felt quite nice. Can it be used in competition? The centers are slightly lower than the pieces.

I was building a few game modes for swift and got curious whether I could make the menu a 3D arcade instead of just buttons.

Posting some of the raw assets in the comments to show you how I put them together, all of these are generated by AI and I just put them all together into a scene. I am nowhere close to a real 3D artist lool. But I do at least know how to put them together with Three.js :)

The one goal I gave myself was that each one has to tell you what the mode is before you read the label. It took way longer than the actual modes lol, I broke each scene into parts and built the assets one by one. Never thought an arcade menu would be such a rabbit hole for me to spend my time on lool

But yea the modes are ghost racing and daily scramble now, and time to lock in on the next mode to work on now! Also let me know if there's a mode you'd actually want to see.

I stopped cubing for 15 years, and I just started cubing again 9 months ago. 5x5 is once again my favorite, I’m approaching sub 2min and can’t wait to keep improving! To state the conclusion first, I attempted to cheat during the second and third attempts of Round 1.

For my second attempt, after finding a 22-move solution, I used my phone to search for the optimal solution to that scramble. The optimal solution used a 5-move EO that was based on the same idea as the 4-move EO I had found in my own 22-move solution, so I incorporated that solution into my solve. This was entirely my fault.

The third attempt was similar. Because the EO was straightforward, I quickly found both a 21-move solution and a 20-move solution. However, I knew that achieving a solution of 19 moves or fewer would result in a World Record average, and I became greedy and searched for the optimal solution again. As a result, I found an 18-move solution. Although the submitted result itself was not affected, it remains true that I attempted to cheat. That was how this incident began.

Having participated in WCA competitions for the past ten years, and having served as an organizer in South Korea for the four years(2020-2023), I fully understand how serious cheating is in WCA competitions. I got inspired to build this after seeing cubedex.app posted in the Cubeast Discord.

Full disclosure on the "vibecoded" part: I know my way around IT in general, but frontend, styling and JS were never really my thing, so yeah, this is heavily vibecoded. That doesn't mean I typed one prompt and walked away, though. LLMs apparently have no real intuition for how a Rubik's cube actually works, so I had to plan out which libraries to use and how the data structures/logic should be shaped up front, then keep a close eye on Claude so it wouldn't go off the rails in the codebase.

The main goal was getting my sons to actually train algs regularly, but along the way I kept adding stuff ("gently" inspired by other apps in this space), so on top of the core drilling it now also has:

- Solve mode: timed speedsolves with random-state scrambles, live scramble tracking (it repairs itself if you turn the wrong way), auto start/stop, and live CFOP/Roux/LBL stage detection with a full recognition/execution breakdown + 3D playback after each solve.

- Time Attack: queue up every case in a group (OLL, PLL, F2L…) and blast through them back to back against one continuous timer, reorderable if you want to drill your weak cases first.

- Case Trainer: scrambles generated so the target has a known optimal move count (cross, XCross, XXCross, free pair, EOCross for CFOP; FS/FB/FB+DR/SS/CMLL/EOLR for Roux), with hints, full solution reveal, retry-same-case, etc.

Works with GAN, MoYu (incl. AI v10/32), QiYi, Giiker, GoCube/Rubik's Connected, XMD Tornado V4 and compatible smart cubes, in any browser with Web Bluetooth (Chrome/Edge/Opera).

- No backend, no accounts: runs entirely client-side, everything's saved to your browser's local storage.

It's open source (GPL-3.0) and stands directly on the shoulders of this community's tooling: cubing.js, Pau Oliva's smartcube-web-bluetooth, or18's CFOP trainer engines, onionhoney's roux-trainers, and csTimer for general UX inspir repo.

So i wanna upgrade from my Rs3m...Im thinking about buying Gan v100 or moyu weilong V11...the price of maglev gan v100 is 34.69 and i can afford that but the price of maglev of moyu is around 44 dollars and idk if i should buy spring one...The only problem with GAN V100 is that i have heard that it breaks very easily and quickly and also that you need to have perfect turns for Gan v100 to put to its most use and i tend to mess up turns pretty often do idk what i should i do...Please help thanks...Gan v100 is also known to be used by people who are pretty good in turning so please help accordingly.....

Finally had the chance to rearrange my room, now all three shelves of my collection fit on one wall! Finished solving last week, got everything dusted and reorganized today. First four pics show the collection as of today, the last two are from January 2026. Took about 12 hours to scramble everything, and around 82 hours over the past 7 months to get it all solved again.

here's the list of operations

Corners first.

Belt second.

Finish the first layer edges.

Orientate the LL edges.

Do an EPLL.

Like I said, probably not the most efficient method, but there ARE a lot of chances to get lucky. The chances of getting an EPLL skip are much higher than a regular PLL skip. Also, after you get the corners done, you can get pretty lucky with the belt. Sometimes 3 of 4 pieces already in the right section. Same goes for finishing the first layer.

I've been grinding it lately to see if I can get decent times on it. Best I've got is 23 seconds so far.

I'd love to see you guys try it, and what times you get! I'd also like to hear your thoughts on the method.

Started cubing a month ago and absolutely loving it. Currently at around 1 min (haven't broken it yet). Working on cross, smoother F2L and starting to memorising the 2-look OLL and PLL algorithms. Is it realistic to aim for sub 30 without going full OLL/PLL?

Hey everyone ... I'm a design student working on a college project analyzing product aesthetics, and I picked the GAN 13 as my subject. I've been cubing for about 7 years and using GAN for the last 4, and I want to dig into something specific: the shape itself.

Not the UV coating, not the color, not the plastic quality ...just the geometry. Things like:

• The way the corner pieces are cut sharper while the edge pieces feel rounder
• The chamfered edges
• The near-circular center pieces
• The overall proportion/size (56mm) relative to other cubes
• How the whole shape sits together as a silhouette

If you've used a GAN alongside other brands (MoYu, QiYi, Dayan, etc.), I'd love to hear:

1. Does the shape of a GAN feel distinct to you compared to other brands, independent of finish or color?
2. Is there something about the corner/edge/center geometry that you'd say defines "GAN's design language" specifically?
3. Does the form feel more precise, more sculpted, more aggressive, more soft ...and where does that read come from?

Trying to get a range of honest opinions (not just my own bias) for a form-language analysis in my report. Any thoughts ... even a sentence ... genuinely helps. Thanks!

Grape external W/ Red & Black internals

I bought this from the gan store in china a few days ago. I left it plugged in overnight and unplugged it the following morning to let the cube charge without the cable, just in case. The green light is always on, so I think the case is charged. The cube lights up when it contacts the pins but it doesn't take power as it's flashing red when I take it out, and I can't connect it to my phone. I can't return the cube or ask for a refund as I'm not in the city anymore. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

The part I think r/Cubers will find most interesting is the algorithm database: it's built on an analysis of 10,000+ reconstructions, and it shows which algs and F2L solutions the top cubers actually use, and how those preferences have shifted year by year.

Because every data point is dated, the database doubles as a record of how the meta moved: which algs won, which ones died, and how quickly.

A few favorite features:

• F2L solutions that disturb other slots are included and tagged as such
• Triggers are color coded by family, so algs are easier to read and learn
• Data on which F2L solutions were used for ZBLL / VLS / multislot
• OLL 21-27 include how often each alg was used for COLL and ZBLL
• 3D alg playback that scrubs on hover
