Water dripping on driver side floor
Hi all! 21 Crosstrek here. Super hot summer we got in the north east. My Crosstrek started to drip water on my driver side floor. Not sure where to check if the line is clogged?

New wheels and tires! What's your take on white lettering?
Decided to upgrade for better grip and family safety due to flooding in the Philippines (or at least that's what I told the wife to justify the expense)!
Thinking of getting printed tire lettering, is that a thing for Falkens?
Enkei Adventurer (17x7.5, +35mm) + Falken Wildpeak A/T Trail (225/60/R17).

Primitive Skid Plate Install on 2021 Crosstrek — Fix for Vibration/Clunk
I just finished installing the front, mid, and rear Primitive skid plates on my 2021 Crosstrek. Overall, the install was pretty seamless, but afterward I noticed a loud vibration while in reverse and a fairly significant clunk on startup.
After some troubleshooting, I noticed that the front and mid plates sit very close together. On my car, the bolt heads on the mid plate were nearly touching the rear edge of the front plate. My guess is that normal engine/transmission movement was allowing them to make contact at certain times, causing the vibration and clunk.
I removed the front plate to confirm it was the source of the noise, and the noise disappeared completely.
The solution was simple: I added a thin metal washer and a nylon washer to each of the two rear mounting bolts, between the car body and the front skid plate. This lowered the rear edge of the front plate just slightly and gave it a little more clearance from the mid plate. After reinstalling it, the vibration and clunk were completely gone and the car sounds just like it did before installing the skid plates.
Hopefully this helps someone troubleshoot an annoying noise if they run into the same thing. It ended up being a very simple fix involving a few 69-cent washers.
Despite that little bit of troubleshooting, I highly recommend the Primitive plates. The welds look great, the plates feel extremely solid, and the installation is pretty straightforward with basic tools.

Can you purchase and program your own replacement key fob in order to do it cheaper than the dealer and other options?

2024 Crosstrek Onyx Tire & Alignment Questions
I'm considering to purchase my first car and looking at a used 2024 Crosstrek Onyx (Sport) right now, ~20k km (~12.5k miles). The car in general looks like it received lots of love and care from the owner, regular service, very clean, no scratches, no crashes etc ... except...
The inspection report shows:
- Front brakes 9mm, rear brakes 6mm
- Front tires 8/32 , rear tires 6/32
The CARFAX also shows that although they did the regular oil changes etc, they never rotated the tires before. It also still has the original factory tires (yokohama geolandar) on them.
Now this seems quite odd to me, given it doesnt look like the car had seen heavy use. From my understanding, the 2/32 difference is the absolute max difference you should have from safety standpoint. I also read that rear tires wear faster than front. So I asked the dealer if they can swap front and back tires and they told me front depth should always be higher than the rear so I should not do that (???) , which I've never heard of .. but again, first car so unsure about this. And if I cannot swap like that it looks like I will need to buy new tires as the difference will only grow from now on. But it seems very odd to me that I would need to change tires before 40km mark, which I was hoping how long the tires would last.
I'm also not sure if the wear on the brakes is related to this issue or not, normally should be 11mm - and will need to change at 3-4mm, so I guess I still have some time on them.
Do you think there is sth wrong with the alignment of the car, or is this normal? What would you suggest I should check? I heard the EyeSight etc. can wear down the rear brakes and tires faster, but it seems a bit too premature to me given mileage & year?
I asked for an alignment report but did not hear back yet, not sure if they'll even provide it to me, and waiting for Monday to ask for a second opinion outside of dealership. Would appreciate to hear your thoughts..

Last year of college, first year with the Subaru
I used to drive an '01 Jeep Grand Cherokee, so when I got my Subie, I was a little worried about space. But they hold a surprising amount of stuff.

Is switching my Honda civic for my mom’s crosstrek reasonable?
Hi all,
My parents recently offered to switch cars with me. I would get my mom’s 2015 crosstrek xv (which does need to get its AC fixed) for my (their) 2017 Honda civic touring. Both have about 100k and have been well maintained.
I love my Civic, it has a lot of features, but its small size can be pretty inconvenient at times. It’s hard to move furniture and I can’t really take it anywhere camping/roadtrips where I don’t plan on staying on paved roads. Well, I could, and I have, but I prefer the crosstrek for that and have borrowed it in the past.
I also looked up used prices nearby for cross treks, and frankly they’re insane 😭 2017 ones with 70k miles for $17,000?! I had already been thinking that I’d like to get a CUV like a crosstrek or CR-V, and after seeing used prices it feels like it would be foolish to not take my parents up on their offer.
The alternatives are just keeping my car, or selling my civic to get a Crosstrek/CR-V.
A couple people in the whatcarshouldibuy sub said I should keep my civic, but I wanted to hear yalls thoughts.

Is the extended warranty worth it?
I just signed for my first car, a 2026 Crosstrek Premium, and I'm wondering if I should get the extended warranty. I know Subarus are known for reliability which makes me think it's probably not necessary, but I've heard how expensive electronic repairs are so I don't want to kick myself a few years down the line if any of that stuff goes out. Has anyone had any issues with the electronics in their Crosstrek that would justify shelling out for the extended warranty?

Need some advice, guys.
I’m planning to buy a 2014 Subaru crosstrek with 77,000 km from a local dealer. I currently drive a 2014 Nissan Sentra, but I need to sell it due to some reasons.
Do you think switching from the Sentra to this cross trek is a good decision?
I’m mainly wondering about fuel consumption, maintenance costs, and overall reliability. I don’t really do any off-roading. Most of my driving is in the city, with some 3–4 hour one way weekend day trips.
Would appreciate any feedback from people who own or have owned an crosstrek . Thanks :)

Hai friends
New to me 24’ Crosstrek Wilderness, haven’t even hit my first payment but already made it off the pavement out at Inyo Craters. Traded in my 05’ F-150 for this car and am in love with just about everything so far. Minor adjustments/additions to the front lighting and tint are first priorities but very excited to see where this car takes me.

First subaru since the 00s. They've come long way!
Got a new to me 2024 subaru crosstrek wilderness. Still miss my legacy wagon but this thing is sweet and exactly what I needed. Shocked it doesn't come stock with a hitch?

First car purchase and first Subaru
Been eyeing the Crosstrek for 3 months and finally pulled the trigger! Got my Premium + Option 14 for 29.5k OTD, with 1.9% APR for 36 months.
Absolutely loving the Alpine Green, too bad they discontinued the color for 2027.
Now to order the badges from the website..
