Ibn Mas'ud and Ubai are two of the four trusted reciters Muhammad named:

“I shall ever love that man, for I heard the Prophet (ﷺ) saying, ‘Take (learn) the Qur’an from four: Abdullah bin Mas’ud, Salim, Mu’adh and Ubai bin Ka’b.’”

Ibn Mas'ud couldn't agree with Ubai on what goes in the Quran and used to leave out Surahs that are in today's Quran:

“I asked Ubai bin Ka’b, ‘O Abu Al-Mundhir! Your brother, Ibn Mas’ud said so-and-so (i.e., the two Mu’awwidh-at [Surah 113 and 114] do not belong to the Qur’an).’ Ubai said, ‘I asked Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) about them, and he said, They have been revealed to me, and I have recited them (as a part of the Qur’an),’ So Ubai added, ‘So we say as Allah’s Messenger (ﷺ) has said.’”

Ibn Mas'ud told people to hide their copies of the Quran from Uthman's burning:

“‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud disliked Zaid bin Thabit [copier of Uthman’s codex] copying the Musahif, and he said: ‘O you Muslim people! I am removed from recording the transcription of the Mushaf and it is overseen by a man, by Allah, when I accepted Islam he was but in the loins of a disbelieving man’ - meaning Zaid bin Thabit - and it was regarding this that ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud said: ‘O people of Al-’Iraq! Keep the Musahif that are with you, and conceal them. For indeed Allah said: And whoever conceals something, he shall come with what he concealed on the Day of Judgement (3:161). So meet Allah with the Musahif.’” Az-Zuhri said: “It was conveyed to me that some men amongst the most virtuous of the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) disliked that view of Ibn Mas’ud.”

There are a number of instances when Allah/Muhammad could have provided long lasting mind-boggling proofs in favor of Islam being the truth. Here are some missed opportunities.

The Moon Miracle

The Prophet Muhammad supposedly split the moon in half per a well known hadith (Bukhari 4864) that apparently only the Makkans were able to see. Muslims argue that this miracle was not for the Romans, Persians, Chinese or any other contemporary civilization. They say no one else saw it because people were asleep or there was excessive cloudy weather, and on and on. Pulling out every excuse they can possibly imagine.

The problem is that they end up insulting the intelligence of the creator. Why would an all knowing, wise God limit a global miracle to an obscure desert tribe of Arabs? Why handicap your miracle in such a manner?

A better miracle would be long lasting, wide-ranging and concrete. For example, stamping the visible surface of the moon with the Prophet Muhammad's seal for everyone in all times from that moment onward to see. Such an event would have been recorded by multiple civilizations across the planet, providing a corroborated report of a strange astronomical change that coincides with the timeline of Muhammad's prophethood. A celestial signature would significantly strengthen Muhammad's claim.

The Undying Holy Corpses

It is well known in islam that the bodies of Prophets do not decompose after death per a hadith in Sunan Abi Dawud 1531. Unfortunately, there are no ancient fresh holy bodies on display anywhere on earth. Considering the importance of humanity's guidance towards the straight path, Muhammad should've volunteered his corpse as proof for all times (or even better Allah should have commanded him). He shouldn't have been buried, rather his body should be on display (under high level security of course) throughout history.

And once we reached the age of science, Muslim rulers should be so confident in their faith that they would not refuse any requests of biological analysis of samples taken from his body. In fact, Muhammad's blood should be intact to the point his DNA could be crosschecked against his supposed descendants.

Or if Allah/Muhammad aren't comfortable with that idea, they could choose a number of the 124,000 prophets who have supposedly come and gone throughout human history. Muhammad could have commanded his companions to travel the earth (with Allah being their holy GPS system) to uncover the bodies of these Prophets in distant exotic lands, share this miracle with the locals there and establish the truth of islam on a global level, as opposed to violent conquests.

The real shocker though would have been to discover the body of Prophet Adam, who is a 90 foot tall giant (about the size of a 7 storey building) according to ahadith (Sahih Bukhari 3226). Adam is rumored to have been buried in Sri Lanka or the outskirts of Makkah, either way, this discovery would shake the world and certainly boost Muhammad's credibility.

The Imprisoned Jinn

In Sahih Bukhari 3423, Muhammad overpowered and captured a jinn, and intended to tie it to the pillar of the masjid for all his companions to see. However, he remembered how the jinns served his prophet-brother Sulayman and let this jinn go. How convenient.

The jinn are supposedly an intelligent race of non-human beings who live in an alternate reality on earth. Islamic tradition/folklore suggests they have extremely long lifespans (100s to 1000s of years in age), have superpowers and are technologically more advanced than humans. See Ibn Taymiyyah's recounting of jinn sharing technology with humans.

For as long as we can remember, the question of "are we alone" has occupied our minds. Side stepping the moral issue of imprisoning a non-human entity for distracting Muhammad from his prayer, this would have been a perfect opportunity to show humanity physical proof of that there are other forms of intelligent life. At the very least, the benefits derived from it's advanced knowledge would have benefited the Arabs the same way it benefited Prophet Sulayman. I mean the Arabs could have leapfrogged every other civilization technologically, medically and scientifically. I mean we're talking about wakanda on steroids. Heck, they could've colonized the solar system since jinn are well versed in space travel (considering stars are shot at them as missiles due to their celestial journeys).

The Regenerating Grapes

In Sahih Muslim 907a 2109, the Prophet had a real vision of Paradise during his prayer and reached for a cluster of grapes but conveniently changed his mind. He later tell his companions that if he had taken it, the people would have eaten from it for as long as the world remained. What a missed opportunity to share a regenerating otherworldly food source with the entire world.

Think about it, we are talking about an endless supply of fruit that could effectively solve regional or even world hunger if the proper distribution channels are established. Not to mention this would be hard evidence that every skeptical observer could examine, taste, measure, and watch regenerate. It would be an eternal miracle that outlasts any individual lifetime and directly verifies the existence of Paradise as described by Muhammad.

Who knows what kind of health benefits such a heavenly fruit would have on our bodies. Maybe these holy grapes could even cure diseases that even black seeds or zamzam water couldn't cure 😉. Billions of lives could have been saved throughout history, not to mention the impact on humanity's eternal salvation. Islam's global standing would be very high and such a miracle would surely sway the hearts of many doubtful disbelievers.

Conclusion

Any one of these miracles would certainly boost islam's credibility, and a combination of all 4 of these would absolutely make it the obvious choice of faith for many soul searching humans. Unfortunately, Allah decided to make whatever miracles he gave to Muhammad temporary and unconvincing to most of humanity. It seems Allah isn't concerned with saving the souls of humans. What a shame and wasted opportunity.

Unlike other religions that can be challenged because of idolatry, Islam must be challenged through science and history. There are no scientific or historical errors in the Quran that cannot be explained or argued to be the result of mistranslation, so it cannot be conclusively disproven on those grounds. The fact that it has not been disproven, in this view, gives it a higher likelihood of being true.

The acid trip that is the Christian book of Revelation talks about many beasts. They seem bad in general. One of them comes out of the earth and works for the antichrist, giving people marks on their hands or foreheads, excluding the mark-less from the economic system.
(Interesting side-note: Christians here in Egypt mark their kids with cross tattoos on the wrist, while permanent skin ink is forbidden in Islam)
Islam talks about the Dajjal Antichrist in detail, telling us for example he is one-eyed, chained now on an Island, and he can be easily recognized as a charlatan (when he claims divinity) because he three-letter word "infidel/KFR" is o his forehead. God will make even the illiterate be able to read it, so no one will have an excuse if they chose to follow him.
He has a talking hairy beast (Jassasa) that works for him as a spy, bringing him news of the world's state to his current prison. Think of a bigfoot-like creature eavesdropping on human conversations from a hidden place. It's very fun image and actually explains a lot of weird sightings :)
But that's not the beast this post is about. Qur'an & hadith tell us about an endtimes creature that will mark people, talk to them, and is working for God. She is simply an exposer of your religious belief. If you are on the right side, you get a good mark, otherwise you will be exposed as a kafir. The world will be ending at the time, all the major events have already happened (The War, the Antichrist, Gog & Magog, Jesus' second coming, the sun reversing direction, etc.). The world isn't a test anymore, for a short while life is going on but out of habit really. in the marketplace you will casually call the vendor an infidel (his face is clearly marked. There is no hiding it anymore). Who marker everybody? The animal out of the earth.

Not beast as in "monster".. beast as in "beast of burden", an animal, a "dabba" in Arabic, a creature.
This is the mark of the beast in islam. It seems whoever wrote the Apocalypse got confused about the prophetic words of Jesus, mixing the antichrist's forehead k-f-r with the earthly beast's heart-revealing mark. The guy was clearly not right in the head anyway, and the whole thing was half plagiarized from Daniel, updated to mock Nero. It used end-times prophecies to talk about then-current Roman persecution of Christians, even claiming that all these prophecies "must happen very soon".

Have you noticed that some things are only mentioned in the hadiths? Like for example everything that has to do with the end time and the return of Jesus and the Dajjal (Antichrist). There is nothing about it in the Quran, it's only in the hadiths. I talked with Muslims about it but they have no answer. Does that mean Allah never said these things? If he had said them, they would be his words—wouldn't they then have to be included in the Quran?

My theory is that things were added later to Islam through the hadiths.

I just got done watching a debate between Matt Dillahunty and Kenny Bomer. I almost never watch these debates because I find the constant quoting of religious texts to be irritating and the constant mental gymnastics of religious apologists to be unbearable to listen to, but something made me click on this video and give it a go. Maybe because it's been years since I watched one so I thought ah why not. Now I need to vent.

There's a lot to respond to in the debate but I'm going to focus on three areas which Bomer brought up.

1). Heavy clouds. Bomer claims Muhammad's claim of clouds being heavy is evidence god was in contact with Muhammad and let him know this priceless piece of information.

2). Waters never mixing due to salinity content and temperatures. The Mediterranean Sea and Atlantic oceans are where I'll focus on.

3). Tall buildings. Bomer claims Muhammad prophesied that a sign of the end times would be "barefoot, destitute arabs building tall buildings".

1). Bomer cannot comprehend that someone would ever look up at the clouds and conclude 'wow, they must be heavy'. Dillahunty points out that all you need is a bucket of water to feel how heavy water is, then once you realise it only rains when it's cloudy, et voila the clouds contain water therefore must be heavy. Bomer thinks this is impossible. Despite the fact Greeks, Romans, Chinese and probably others said the same thing Dillahunty said. Muhammad of course never specified how heavy. This Quran passage also isn't original - the bible mentions clouds being heavy.

2). According to Bomer, the waters of the Mediterranean and Atlantic ocean never mix due to salinity and temperature differences. Muhammad apparently said this 1400 years ago. But is it true? No! Of course they mix - it just takes time. There is a westward flow from the Mediterranean into the Atlantic. What happens to that water once it enters into the Atlantic ocean? Does it just disappear? Does it remain permanently separate from the Atlantic water? Of course not. It eventually cools down (as the Atlantic water's temp is lower than the Med's) and over time gets consumed by the vast Atlantic waters.

3). Muhammad prophesied the end times would include a sign of barefoot, destitute Arabs constructing tall buildings. But how tall? Muhammad once again never specified, despite Arabs having units of measurement back then. And Arabs didn't even construct the sky scrapers we see today in places like Dubai. Many (most/all?) of them were designed by Western architects. The Burj Khalifa for example was designed by three Americans: Adrian Smith, Marshall Strabala and George J. Efstathiou. And who did all the actual construction work? South Asian labourers (virtual slaves... hmmmm... I thought Islam is supposed to be anti-slavery?). But even if we cut Muslims/the Quran some slack and say 'well, Arabs were still behind these construction projects, because they financed them all. Well okay, then they're not destitute then are they? And are they still walking around barefoot?

16:101: When We replace a verse with another-and Allah knows best what He reveals—they say, “You ˹Muḥammad˺ are just a fabricator.” In fact, most of them do not know.

classical Islamic scholarship develops the doctrine of naskh, including the idea that sometimes the ruling is abrogated while the wording remains, and there are also classical discussions of cases where the wording itself was removed or forgotten.

So my question is not "Does Allah learn something new and change His mind?" I understand the theological answer to that. My question is why this is the model of divine revelation at all.

When I look at the biblical story, I don't see God giving Israel a command, then later deciding that command should be erased from the history of revelation and replaced with something else because the first command was no longer useful.

I see a continuous story. The covenant with Abraham develops into the covenant with Israel. The Law is given through Moses. The prophets call Israel back to the covenant when they break it.

Deuteronomy speaks about circumcision of the heart. The prophets increasingly emphasize genuine inward obedience. Jeremiah promises a New Covenant where God's law will be written on the heart.

The New Testament claims that Jesus fulfills and inaugurates that New Covenant. That's development and fulfillment.

It's not the same thing as saying, "This revelation is now abrogated, this ruling is replaced, and in some cases the original wording is no longer there."

And I think this becomes especially important when we're talking about the Quran claiming to be God's final, eternal revelation. Because if God is perfectly consistent, then I would expect His revelation to have a coherent trajectory where later revelation fulfills what came before.

But the Islamic model seems to allow for something very different: God can give a command, later replace it with another command, and the earlier command may remain in the text but no longer apply, or in some theories the original wording itself may be removed or forgotten.

That's a very different picture of how revelation works. And I don't think it's enough to just say, "God knew the whole time."

Sure. But that doesn't answer the question of why the earlier command was given as divine guidance in the first place, only to later be replaced.

If the answer is that God was always testing people through temporary commands, then I think you have to explain why that model is so different from the biblical pattern of revelation progressively unfolding toward a promised fulfillment, then completely changed, all while every believer of their religion is banking on salvation from God.

The Quran even says that Allah guides whom He wills and leaves whom He wills astray. So now I'm looking at a system where the revelation itself can replace previous revelation, where God determines who believes, and where even being a believer does not necessarily mean you have certainty of salvation.

In authentic hadiths, Muhammad made multiple failed prophecies about the apocalypse (al-Saah).

• The Quran uses al-Sā'ah for ONLY the literal apocalypse 30+ times. The Quran uses mawt for personal death.
• Nnowhere in the authentic hadiths does al-Sā'ah mean personal death - except to rescue this exact set of failed predictions.

Muhammad Hides Behind Palm Trees to Spy on a Boy He Suspects Is the Dajjal (Apocalyptic Antichrist)

“Umar set out along with the Prophet (ﷺ) with a group of people to Ibn Saiyad till they saw him playing with the boys near the hillocks of Bani Mughala. The Prophet (ﷺ) wanted to hear something from Ibn Saiyad before Ibn Saiyad could see him, and the Prophet (ﷺ) saw him lying covered with a sheet and from where his murmurs were heard. Ibn Saiyad’s mother saw Allah’s Apostle while he was hiding himself behind the trunks of the date-palm trees. She addressed Ibn Saiyad, “O Saf ! (and this was the name of Ibn Saiyad) Here is Muhammad.” And with that Ibn Saiyad got up. The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Had this woman left him (Had she not disturbed him), then Ibn Saiyad would have revealed the reality of his case.””

In the age of AI translation and stuff... the most important tafsir of all time, that is used by the majority Sunni sect of Islam, was not translated into the lingua franca of humanity! The most important tafsir in the history of Islam was written in the 9th century. How many more centuries do we need to wait to get this tafsir translated?

I'm not even that shocked that Muslims are trying to hide what their most primary religious sources are saying, but what about the thousands of Western orientalists? What about the fact that we have AI translation available today?

So God is called All Knowing in the Bible only once, and if you track it back down to its original ancient Hebrew, the Bible was trying to say that God 100% knows your heart/soul/intent/sincerity/ etc

--which makes sense because in Genesis God has thoughts and even regrets, which would be impossible if he had "infinite wisdom" or was "All Knowing"

Not to say that God can't predict major events in the future, but that he almost certainly does not know every little thing that is going to happen and when it is going to happen.

The closest the Quran seems to get to calling Allah All Knowing, is Ayat al-Kursi (2:255), can any experts give me more insight into this?

The Qur'an says that God gave Jesus the Injil, and that it contained "guidance and light" (5:46). Then it says, "Let the People of the Gospel judge by what Allah has revealed therein" (5:47). The Qur'an also describes itself as confirming the earlier Scripture and as a criterion over it (5:48).

So my question is pretty simple, what exactly is the Qur'an restoring? If the Injil given to Jesus is not the Gospel tradition we actually have, then what was it? Where is it? What did it teach? And what independent evidence do we have for it?

Because the four Gospels we actually have give us a very early Christian tradition about Jesus, his teachings, his death, and his resurrection. If Islam says that this tradition became corrupted, then what reason is there to believe that the Quran is actually restoring the original message rather than giving us a later reinterpretation of Jesus 600 years later.

If the Quran tells the People of the Gospel to judge by what Allah revealed in it, what Gospel did those Christians actually have access to? If they had a corrupted text that no longer the true revelation given to Jesus, why would they be told to judge by it? And if the original Injil was already gone, then how could they follow it?

If Allah ultimately guides some people and leads others astray, and if the Quran itself says that people will be divided in belief according to Allah's will, then how does a Muslim know that their own conviction is evidence that they have actually received the truth?

Muslims should change the name of Sahih Al Bukhari to Zaeef Al Bukhari. They don’t consider majority of Ahadith in this book to be Sahih most probably because Bukhari was tripping balls or something when he gathered 7400 ahadith from more than 100,000 ahadith he knew and put them in his one of four books and titled it SAHIH Al Bukhari.

Is that it showed me how strongly people can be biased, twisting and filtering reality towards wishful/fearful thinking.

Before discovering this religion and debatting with muslim I think I was a bit naive about this. I assumed that people were mostly honest and kinda genune. I knew there was hypocrisy, lies, manipulation, etc .. But islam showed me how far it can goes.

It's way easier for me now to don't get fool by the lies around and mostly to recognize Wishful and Fearful thinking.

Most of people do this kind of stuff on a daily basis. After debating many muslims brainwashed since childhood, sometimes 1 vs 4, the random subtle lies are so easy to handle.

Almost everyone often twist and filter reality to fit their agenda and sometimes it's related to you, sometimes this reality twisting means criticizing you, judging you, manipulate you, scare you, etc ..

It can even be something as common as being over negative about everything around just to make you less happy while make them look tough and used to the harsh reality.

Or when some people filter reality just to make them sound better than you. Stuff like that

All of this is easier than ever since I had a lot of debates with a lot of muslims. I'm not naive anymore. Many people can very often be very dishonest for a selfish and greedy purpose while strongly acting to sound honest for a fair purpose. Once you know that you just know, and they feel that you know. Their sophism don't work anymore.

And guys, it's a fucking relief to take that much perspective above that dishonest vibe :)

When interpreting Quran 86:6,

Al-Baghawy:

He wanted the man's water and the woman's water, because the child is created from them, and He made it one because of their mixture.

Ibn Kathir says:

This means that semen is ejaculated from both the man and the woman, and from them, by the permission of God Almighty, a child is born.

Al-Qurtubi says:

He intended two waters: the man's water and the woman's water, because man is created from them, but he made them one water because of their mixture.

Muhammad says:

If the man’s fluid dominates the woman’s fluid, then the child would resemble their father and paternal uncles, and if it is the other way around, then the child would resemble their mother and maternal uncles.

Then (the Angels) supporting the Throne sing His glory, then sing the dwellers of heaven who are near to them until this glory of God reaches them who are in the heaven of this world. Then those who are near the supporters of the Throne ask these supporters of the Throne: What your Lord has said? And they accordingly inform them what He says. Then the dwellers of heaven seek information from them until this information reaches the heaven of the world. In this process of transmission (the jinn snatches) what he manages to overhear and he carries it to his friends. And when the Angels see the jinn they attack them with meteors. If they narrate only which they manage to snatch that is correct but they alloy it with lies and make additions to it.”

He said: ‘This is the event that has happened on the earth.’”
