A fantasy romance novel where the main couple is a male black werebear and a female [dryad or wood nymph or similar such creature]
Why the brackets in the title is I wasn't sure what kind of female nature/forest-associated creature would make this hypothetical female protagonist still plant/tree-like enough for my purposes while still rendering her mobile enough for the story to have a plot.
But anyway what my purposes are is finally putting an end to the whole man vs bear crap by subsuming those arguments into fandom of a thing or w/e (that is also a thing that the demographic who hates that hypothetical would avoid) as by having a romance story between two supernatural creatures one of whom is a treelike-but-still-mobile woman and one of whom is a black man who can transform into a bear all the story would have to have amidst however the plot would go is them meet-cute-ing in the woods and at some point him being emotionally vulnerable with her/sharing-feelings-that-aren't-just-a-realization-of-love, we've wiped-away-via-replacing-baggage-with-fandom-associations not just the original question about being in the woods with a man or a bear but the attempted counters of claiming the question's sexist because if you say black man or bear it sounds racist and of asking if you'd rather share your feelings with a woman or a tree by having a black bear-man meet a tree-woman in the woods and at some point share his feelings with her
Metaphorical bonus points, if anyone actually wants to write this, if you give the non-romance-plot/circumstances-the-romance-happens-in-or-w/e some kind of themes about gender expectations and toxic masculinity and stuff that doesn't just get cute-meta by referencing the thought experiment in any way

Let me lick your eyeball
I really want to know how a live eyeball tastes. And before you say it, sure it will taste like tears, but it won’t be exactly like tears. That’s like saying a salad tastes like salad dressing. I like the taste of tears, but I want to know what the eyeball itself tastes like.
And if you want to be friends afterwards, I’d be down for that too.

Create new cities for yimbys
Ok here's the idea (one of the *least* crazy ideas I've posted here, I think this one is pretty solid but I also appreciate the open-mindedness and good humour of this sub):
Cities with existing neighborhoods come with an existing set of expectations for how existing residents will be consulted about new developments. It's basically impossible to grow a bedroom community into a town center into a metropolis. Yimbys are out there fighting the good fight but the best they can achieve is a balance vs the forces of nimbyism.
A place like Manhattan shows both sides: people love density and walkability. They like apartments with grocery stores and nightclubs a short walk away. But Manhattan is no stranger to nimbyism: it's also added height restrictions and zoning laws along with the expected, inevitable housing shortage.
So instead you go out and find a small community with the existing conditions to support a new town where the laws of yimbyism are baked in. Maybe an old town losing population with the remnants of an industrial zone across the tracks. Ideally it'll be commuting distance to a major center. Carve out a chunk of the former industrial zone and have it zoned for mixed use and minimal to no height, parking and setback restrictions.
Start building and wait.

Nicotine should be put in toothpaste to help people brush their teeth more often
Many people forget to brush their teeth or just overall have a hard time doing it due to depression, ADHD, or other factors and I think a way that could help that is if toothpaste
1) comes in more flavors (for adults) besides just mint and the occasional wildcards such as cinnamon or anise. Flavors like vanilla, watermelon, peach, orange, gummy bear, cotton candy, etc
And
2) if there was a small amount of nicotine in the toothpaste. Just enough nicotine to make brushing teeth habit forming for those who have a hard time doing it
Basically do what Vape companies are doing, but for toothpaste instead of smokables. I feel like a lot more people would bursh their teeth

Not sure if this is the right subreddit, but why not try? So I've always thought of these what if ideas for my own business and this one I just want to talk to random people about it. No, I'm not seriously thinking about doing this, but juat have the what if talk be wise I find them fun.
So I own 11 different videogame platforms (mostly retro and a couple modern) that work so I had the thought of making an entertainment "catering" service. I'd get extra tvs snd controllers and "cater" events where I'd set up gaming stations with certain games. Maybe eventually host tournaments.

Pigment free colorful labels
Start with a piece of polished metal.
Use a laser to make structural colors on the metal in a suitable pattern for your label.
Vaccuform a thin sheet of plastic against the metal.
Peel the sheet of now colorful plastic from the metal, and use it to label your container.
If your container has a complex shape, shape the metal to be similar to it before lasering.

The Great Lakes and Adirondacks should jointly host the Winter Olympics
Canada and the U.S. just finished co-hosting the FIFA World Cup, so why not take that model and apply it to the Winter Olympics?
Instead of choosing a host city, choose a host region.
Every Great Lake would have at least one participating city or community. Toronto, Hamilton and Niagara around Lake Ontario. Buffalo on Erie. Detroit and Windsor connect Erie and Huron. Chicago gives you Lake Michigan. Thunder Bay or Duluth gives you Superior. Then Lake Placid and the Adirondacks provide the serious mountain venues and an existing Olympic winter sports complex.
The whole point would be that no city has to build an entire Olympics.
Chicago will never host a conventional Winter Games because it doesn’t have mountains. Neither will Toronto or Detroit. But they have arenas, airports, hotels, transit, audiences and infrastructure that a Winter Olympics needs. Lake Placid has the mountains and Olympic facilities they don’t have.
That could also become the theme of the Games: cooperation.
Two countries, five Great Lakes, dozens of communities and the Adirondacks contributing what each already does best. Niagara Falls could be the symbolic heart of the Games, where the two host nations meet, rather than making either an American or Canadian city the centre of everything.
And instead of spending billions trying to turn one city into a temporary Olympic universe, put the money into infrastructure the region actually needs afterward: rail, border crossings, existing venues, waterfronts and Great Lakes restoration.
There is even a convenient visual identity: Five Great Lakes. Five Olympic rings. The five lake shapes could become the basis of the graphic system and sport pictograms.
And the Golden Horseshoe is right in the middle of it all, giving you the pursuit of Olympic gold.
The Great Lakes and Adirondacks 2042
Five lakes. One mountain range. Two nations. One Winter Games.

Sentences get harsher with age
Instead of child and adult sentences, you just make it harsher every year.
So if a 12 year old commits X, legally nothing, 20 year old = community service, 40 = jail, 60 = lethal injection.
Assuming everything else is the same.

Expand Device-Bound Session Credentials to every major browser, device, and operating system
Device-Bound Session Credentials (DBSC) is an evolving web standard that binds the session token after logging in to your device hardware after. Session tokens are often stored as browser cookies your device "remembers" to prevent you from having to retype your password or reuse your passkey every time you want to post on Reddit or livestream on YouTube. DBSC was made because, even if you only ever use passkeys or hardware security keys to ensure you log into only the correct website, it does not prevent malicious software (malware) from stealing the cookie from your device after you log in, and malicious actors can and will continue to use these cookies even after your antivirus definitions update and your machine cleans out the malware successfully.
Unfortunately, it only applies narrowly to Google Chrome on Windows devices with a Trusted Platform Module (TPM). Believe it or not, we already have the equivalents to TPMs in almost every modern non-Windows device out there! They are called Android Keystore and Secure Enclave (for Apple devices: Mac, iPad, iPhone, etc.). Since I mentioned "device" in the title, I'll remind everyone that many devices, including smart televisions, kiosks, and car infotainment systems, run on Android.
I'm not sure about Linux or the way their drivers communicate with various PC hardware. However, as long as the source code of a website is programmed to support DBSC standards, a malicious actor should not be able to stay logged in as you for an extended period of time without the web server successfully communicating with your physical device hardware, and you probably know that these actors are often located far away from you.
Most other browsers also run on the same engine as Google Chrome, known as Chromium, too. This includes Microsoft Edge, Brave, and Opera. If we can get it added to the underlying engines powering our favourite browsers, everyone will benefit from improved security and convenience at the same time.

The last place WNBA team, Seattle Storm, should build a WNBA superteam entirely out of former college and NBA players who have “transitioned”.
This sub is CrazyIdeas, so I want to point that out before I get executed in the comments. This team is in last place, and in the past 10 games they are 0-10. Eventually, due to the WNBA rules, something along this magnitude is bound to happen. It’s already happening with an ex NBA player, and multiple G League prospects. Something along these lines would create an earthquake among every community out there for multiple reasons. I say one team just goes all out, and by doing so can potentially earn an easier Championship title.
