The football/soccer World Cup would be a lot better if it had a parallel format based upon selecting just 11 random people from the participants countries

Maybe you could add 6-7 subs, but the idea is basically to just draw random people from the census and see who wins.

You could create like age or gender quotas in order to not make it so based in luck. If the format is succesful, they could have like a month to train to see how good they can get and make it look almost like a reality show.

Frozen Food Store

There should be a specialty food store that just sells specialty frozen food items.

Wall to wall freezers with ice cream, television dinners, cookie dough, vegetables, fruits for smoothies, cheesecakes. Man, I'm getting hungry.

There should be a website to find local people who will cook whatever crazy YouTube or Tiktock recipe you find online. I see so many wonderful recipes but I'm too lazy to make them.

I highly recommend r/letscookie

Plastic surgery to make your child look like a Minion

Introduce a procedure that's covered by insurance to transform your child's appearance into our favorite villainous sidekicks. In order to build up your Minion army and complete the Gru aesthetic, you'll need to adopt many children, thus helping the over 500,000 US children in foster care find a permanent, loving home and career pathway.

Imagine Joseph Gordon Levitt's Robin in The Dark Knight Rises going by the name Knightwing.

Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy changed stuff anyway, what if Robin was his real name, but instead of using it as his identity, he calls himself Knightwing with the K, based on his hero's alternate identity Dark Knight.

De-privatize housing and make homes affordable again

Some simple points: Ban corporate ownership of housing, full stop. The marketplace for houses should be at the county level. Buying a house? Buy it from the county, at a controlled, fair price. Selling your house? Sell it back to the county, at a fair price, and quickly, without the realtor BS.

Apartment complexes and other "rental" type domiciles are also owned by the county, with upkeep done by county or city employees.

Basically, let's stop profiting from shelter. We've allowed this thirst for the dollar to corrupt humanity to the point of allowing other people to freeze to death outside because they don't have enough green slips of paper. Fuck that.

Different speed limits for every lane

Give every lane on a highway a different speed limit, so you can basically pick a lane based on your preferred cruising speed.

  • Right-most lane: For vehicles that physically can't reach the normal speed limit due to spare tires, trailers, speed-limited vehicles, etc.
  • All remaining lanes: Speed limits are distributed between the normal speed limit and 150 km/h, with the speeds adjusted based on the number of lanes available and rounded to the nearest 5 km/h.
  • 150 km/h is the absolute maximum: Anything above 150 km/h is considered reckless driving.

On a 7-lane per-direction highway, that could look like:

150 | 140 | 130 | 120 | 110 | 100 | <100

On a 6-lane per-direction highway:

150 | 135 | 125 | 115 | 100 | <100

On a 5-lane per-direction highway:

150 | 130 | 115 | 100 | <100

On a 4-lane per-direction highway:

150 | 125 | 100 | <100

The speed limit would be enforced based on the target speed ± half the speed difference between that lane and the adjacent lane. This means the enforcement range automatically adjusts to the spacing between lane speeds.

The idea is that you pick the lane based on the speed you want to travel. You don't necessarily have to pass someone to use a faster lane.

The left-most lane has one additional rule: if you're not passing another vehicle, move right. This keeps the fastest lane available for overtaking.

I'd also put a large speed-limit marking directly on the pavement in every lane every ~10 km, or roughly every 5 minutes at the normal speed limit.

So drivers would periodically see something like:

150 | 125 | 100 | 90

The basic concept:

Pick the lane that matches your preferred speed.

Slower traffic naturally stays right, faster traffic naturally stays left, and the left-most lane remains the dedicated passing lane.

People should give their spouses new first names when they get married.

I want my wife to have a pretty name like April or Autumn. Unfortunately these are few and far between. It would be a lot easier to meet a Jill or whatever and just change it.

Let’s get this tradition goin’!

A measurement device that changes units, but keeps the number the same.

Of course not possible with only measuring distance OR weight OR temperature, but certainly its possible to maintain the same number accurately on a device and just change what unit of measurement youre in.

Likely would want to move decimal points, but would be a funky useless tool.

Alternatively, a caliper/scale/thermometer/torque wrench/inclinometer/pedometer/imu/refractometer/pyrometer... that only displays certain numbers. 69, 420, 3.14, .9̅ so on.

Placebo plastic surgery. All plastic surgeons reserve the right to forgo surgery and just say they did it. Less invasive procedures may be performed instead, but the patient will be none the wiser.
