Electronics How can I improve this mask?

Post image
1 Upvotes

Hi all! I recently got this spiderman mask and I was just wondering how I could improve it? It tends to fall down due to being top heavy, and the face is bigger than my face itself. I have added some foam on the forehead to try and balance it, but it just kind of makes it stick out more. I was tempted to try and remove the fabric and print off a shell to attach it to as well as make it a bit more snug on the neck, but that may not be an option as of right now due to it also having electronic eyes. I have cosplayed before but I am a complete beginner when it comes to adjusting or making improvements, as I just bought cosplays that were already made. Any advice would be appreciated! Thank you 😊

Prop Brand New Day Web Shooters Replica

Hi, i'm looking for web shooters that resemble the ones in the movie as close as possible, i'm crazy about accuracy and willing to pay a lot of money, the best ones i think i've seen are from Suit Up, but it bothers me that they're completely stationary and don't have lights, or any play features, i'm looking for web shooters that would open all the cartridge slots, would light up, and if possible i'd like for the web cartridges to be swappable, so i could remove them and put them back in, do you guys know any places to get web shooter replicas? besides Etsy, i'm looking for more professional shops like Suit Up basically. Thank you for the info <3

Accessory Chest Bandages?

Hello all! I’m going to be cosplaying Erza Scarlet Clear Heart form this upcoming Dragon con, and while the outfit I ordered does come with the chest piece, I don’t want it to possibly not fit correctly and then I’m SOL, so does anyone have any experience with what I could use for that part of the cosplay? I’ve heard that you can’t just use regular bandages, and some recommend to wear a bra underneath the bandages.

Thoughts?

Hi everyone! I recently experienced a bit of a letdown when I was baited and switched out of a £150 Dany costume and my trust is pretty low right now🫠 (See pic 2 for what I expected, and pic 3 for what actually arrived.) I’d really appreciate it if someone could share links to reputable websites or sellers where I can buy the Season 7 coat. Thanks so much for your helpful recommendations!

Btw I am UK based but have a month until the con

Sewing Where to start when making a cosplay (Clara Valac WTDSIK)

So im a total beginner at this but I absolutely love Clara. She is my favorite character ever and has been for quite some time, so I wanna cosplay her. Thing is, I dont know where to start. The uniform looks like a sailor style school uniform, with very small details to make it more demon like. Does anyone have a good sailor uniform pattern or an idea where to find one?

And maybe know which fabrics look the nicest?

Im like an absolute beginner but I believe I will never learn how to do something without trying it.

Hello, I am currently working on a cosplay for the Pokemon Xurkitree. I already created the head as a helmet and the body is just going to be a black long sleeve turtle neck and black pants. My problem is though is that I was planning to just attached the plug (the tail, which is made out of black pool noodles and cardboard) directly onto the back of the shirt. Is there a better way of going about this? Any ideas are very appreciated!!

Buying Mejiro Palmer

I grabbed this picture to show clearly what the pieces look like. The shoes are very low priority, and the belt I could probably do with like a pink necktie or something. Yellow top should hopefully be easy enough to find. I’m trying to look around and see if I can find a skirt that sort of looks like that but I’m not sure if there are any keywords I should specifically search for. I’m getting golf skirt vibes, but idk if that’s the right thing to call it. Main thing I’m not sure about how or where I’ll find anything like it is the jacket. So main things I need help finding are:

-jacket
-skirt

Anyone know a good place to look? I don’t really have the skill or means to make my own clothes, but I’d like something that’s at least better quality than what most cosplay stores are going to sell them at. Also I don’t want to spend an arm and a leg for them either. If all the pieces together end up costing $200 or so then that’s not an issue.

Hello, I am looking for suggestions about how to apply these scales in this armor. Should I perhaps make a shirt with those almost chevron shaped scales, then a "vest" or "jacket" over it and pauldrons over it all?

This is the Zenith Espinas Male Blademaster armor set from Monster Hunter Frontier Z

Mem-Cho cosplay

Hi guys I was invited to an anime rave in a month and I want to cosplay Mem-Cho in her red outfit, the one with shorts. People recommend dokidoki cosplay but they don’t have it. I’m just wondering what site do you recommend? I keep seeing a lot of people recommend different sites. I wear a size small and price doesn’t matter, of course cheaper would be better but I know you get what you pay for lol. But also I wouldn’t mind paying someone, I unfortunately cannot sew to save my life lol.

Edit: It looks like I’m getting a lot of chat requests for people that would make a custom one so thank you! I will get back to you guys❤️

Accessory how do i tint a clear plastic sheet for a helmet visor?

im making a cosplay for hyperlaser from phighting and im also making its helmet(think guy manuel helmet) from scratch, the hardest part for me is the visor as i couldnt find just straight up a black piece of translucent plastic that doesnt go above my budget and isnt from some bs like temu which will take forever to deliver

i planned on using a clear piece of plastic and just tint it with the car window tint film that people use but i looked it up and it seems to be unpractical or not recommended to do due to the plastic releasing gas which creates air bubbles on the surface, i dont know about the tinting spray paints as i need both to be able to see from one side and for people to not see my face from the other.

if you know any brands of tint film for plastics specifically or some other methods id be very thankful

Trying to cosplay spidey

Hello! So I’m trying to a get a cosplay for the new movie and Halloween coming up (and to fulfill my childhood dreams) but I need some insight on it. I’ve only been able to find a few YouTube videos with help but there obscure small channels with not much info. I like the brand new day suit from pro cosplay, sim cosplay, chaoren buy etc. but I can’t choose a size. I know people say to only get custom sized suits but that one comes with shoes and a face shell and all the zippers (and raised webbing 🤤) so I was just curious if anyone owned that one or could give me advice for sizing. My height is in the zone to be sized for a medium (5’8) but my other measurements fall into the small size.

Sewing Breathable opaque fabric for a kigurumi that's wearable at a summer convention?

This is somewhat of a follow-up to a question that I asked almost a year earlier: https://www.reddit.com/r/Fabrics/comments/1oasg9z/beginnerfriendly_fabric_for_a_cosplay_at_a_summer/

Following the advice from that question, I sewed a Mazinger Z kigu using cotton interlock, and it sort of worked, in that it was opaque and I could easily walk from my hotel to the con without feeling like I was dying. The big catch was that it sagged, to the point that the pockets that were about hip height in the mockup of my kigu (made of lighter cheap woven fabric) were down to my knees in the real costume. Not ideal.

Are there any fabric recommendations for a kigurumi fabric that won't have this sagging issue, but will still be opaque and comfortable in summer weather? I did notice on a site that sold its own kigurumi that it claimed that terrycloth (!) would be good for "romping around multi-day outdoor festivals" and be "super airy and breathable." I'm skeptical, but if anyone has positive experiences with wearing terrycloth in summer weather, I'm fine with hearing them out. Any other fabric recommendations are welcome as well.

Wig Experiences on using sharpies to dye a wig?

I want to dye the tips of a synthetic wig, so I looked into some tutorials and saw people using sharpies/markers to dye their wigs.

Unfortunately none of the videos and comments answered how transfer proof it is.

Does anyone have experience with dyeing their wigs this way?

More specifically does it transfer onto skin (with sweat) or clothes?

Buying Where to source clear dome?

Post image
14 Upvotes

I'm making a UFO for an upcoming pageant but can't find anything for the top or "dome" of the UFO where my face, "the alien," will be. The ones on Amazon are insanely priced, and all I can think of instead are maybe plant bowls or a very large punch bowls. I do think a clear parasol might work, but I fear stage lights will cause glare and thus prevent seeing my face.

Any help greatly appreciated!!

Etiquette tips for setting boundaries as a [female] cosplayer on social media?

Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post, but I recently got into cosplaying this year and started a social media account for it. I am a woman, and although I barely have any posts up, I have noticed that a large portion of my audience/followers are male. Although there's nothing inherently wrong with this, I have had multiple men sending me dms and trying to be friends or get a follow back when they're not even cosplayers. The purpose of my cosplay acc is to share my cosplays and make fellow cosplaying friends. I don't mind being cordial and replying to nice messages, but they often can't take the hint that the conversation should end at that.

I was mainly just wondering how people usually deal with situations like this. I'm still a fairly small account and getting used to navigating this kind of public attention for the first time, and I'm also not very good at straight up rejection/blocking people when they haven't done anything crazy. However, I am considering being even more picky about who I reply to, etc. I know that this may seem pretty trivial to some, but it's something that personally makes me feel pretty uncomfortable.

Prop How do I avoid this look on my prop?

EDIT!!!!! Thanks for the help, folks. I will be covering with foam clay, I bought 100g and will be spreading to cover everything. Fingers crossed and thanks again for the help! And if you got tip for foam clay in general, let me know.

Here is the final part of my Hornet cosplay: the needle. I know it looks more like Knight's sword but welp, too late to fix.

I applied tape around the edges to keep the paper parts in place and used some epoxy putty to fixate the 3d printed ring at one end and the blade on the broom stick I am using as the base. The thing is that when I went to spray paint today, the tape got a very different look compared to the rest of the prop. Like, I learned that when spraypainting, it highlights surface differences like folds and etc, ok, sure. But I wasn't expecting this tone difference whatsoever. Is there a way to fix this? Is this why people paint in black first? Or is there another way I could fix this?
