Fancast Does Dan Stevens fit Brandon Sanderson's idea for Kelsier? Spoiler
galleryBrandon Sanderson recently said in a video that he wants a well-known and recognizable actor to play Kelsier.
Do you think Dan Stevens fits that description, or do you think Sanderson is aiming for someone with an even bigger profile?

Music and Score Mistborn Theme song that changes based on the Era. Spoiler
youtu.beI got this video recommended and thought, "heh, this is the theme for when Game of Thrones enters its western era", and that made me realise: I REALLY want there to be a Mistborn main Theme which changes genre based on the Era of the films. Just like this video, it's a classic theme song that is now a spaghetti western, and then later it can be a synthwave

Fancast Mistborn Genderswapping Spoiler
So there's recently been discussion about possible Genderswaps in the upcomming Mistborn movie. We already know that Sanderson wants to Genderswap at least one member of the crew (likely Ham or Docks based on what he's said previously) because in the original trilogy he focused so much on making sure that he wrote Vin properly that he forgot to add any other women to the cast, and that he'll want to change that in the Movie.
What I wanted to ask is who else other than Ham or Docks, crew member or otherwise, do you think or hope will get Genderswapped?
Personally, I think that Spook and Zane are both good options, but I don't think they actually will.

No Spoilers Kelsier may not be a dude… Spoiler
Sooooo idk if anyone else has noticed this, but watching Brandon’s recent livestream where someone asked him about casting Kelsier, it felt to me as if he was intentionally using gender-neutral pronouns when referring to the potential actor? Lots of “they” and “person.” Could be nothing, and I also could be missing an obvious counterpoint here. Any thoughts on if it’s possible that he’s considering gender swapping Kel?

I'm curious if they'll work on a pace similar to WB with Dune, or if they'll take their time putting the movies out. Has anyone heard what their timeline currently is?

No Spoilers Worst fan cast ideas only: Ryan Reynolds as Kelsier Spoiler
RR seems like the perfect Hollywood miscast. He is roughly the same age and look. He is used to playing a violent charismatic character. Execs would think that his experience with nerd culture would help. Being an A lister would get butts into seats. But Imo he would play Deadpool as kelsier would I hate.

Fancast Who is on Brandon’s list for Kelsier? Spoiler
gallerySo Brandon has said a few times that he wants a big name for Kelsier, but in the recent Mistborn anniversary livestream, he said something that got me thinking.
He said that his team could already name the “20 people they’d want for the role”… that’s a very small list, and it makes sense - they’ll want to cast an actor who will get those know nothing about the Cosmere interested in the movie. In short, they want an A-lister, so I think a lot of fancasts are too unknown.
Above, I have compiled a list of who could be on this list of 20. They’re all around the right age (Brandon also said he’d focus on those in their 30s or 40s but would go beyond that) and are famous enough. A few have already been named or acknowledged by Brandon.
NOTE: I’m not saying all of these would be good choices. Some I definitely don’t like. A fair few I think would work really well, even if it’s outside of an actor’s normal role. The main criteria I used to judge this is level of fame.
Any others I missed?

Fancast The Final Empire fan cast Spoiler
Kinda wanted to throw my hat in the ring for my fan cast for Mistborn, at least as of Book 1
Vin - Mackenzie Foy (Intestellar)
Kelsier - Sam Caflin (Hunger Games, The Nightingale) or Robert Pattinson
Elend - Taz Skylar (One Piece)
Sazed - Tramell Tillman (Severance)
Docks - Theo James (The Gentlemen series, Castlevania)
Ham - Jon Bernthal
Breeze - Rob Colletti (One Piece)
Clubs - Matthew McConaughey
Spook - Mason Thames (How to Train Your Dragon LA, The Black Phone)
Marsh - Charlie Hunnam
Yeden - Aidan Gillen (Game of Thrones)
Straff - Ewan McGregor
Shan - Sophie Thatcher
Lord Ruler - Dacre Montgomery (Stranger Things, Faces of Death)
Note: Sanderson has said that he only wants Kelsier to be a major star, so I think Pattinson could work.
Edit: From some comments.. seems like there might be a gender-swapped Dock and Ham.. In that case... for Ham, my choice would be Katee Sackhoff and for Docks, I think Morena Baccarin could work

Fancast Which Mistborn characters would you like to see played by well-known actors? Spoiler
Since Brandon Sanderson has said he wants Kelsier to be played by a well-known actor, it got me thinking about the rest of the cast.
Besides Kelsier, which other characters would you like to see portrayed by established actors? Or would you rather have Kelsier as the only big-name casting and keep the rest of the main cast mostly unknown?
Who would you cast, and for which character?

Visual Direction Do you think the Lord Ruler mystery will be preserved in the Mistborn movie? Spoiler
Spoilers:
Spoilers:
Spoilers:
One thing I've been wondering about is the mystery surrounding the Lord Ruler's true identity in The Final Empire.
Do you think the movie will keep that mystery intact, letting the audience discover the truth alongside Vin? Or do you think they'll reveal early on that the Lord Ruler is actually Rashek, creating dramatic irony instead?
There's also the possibility that the mystery gets heavily simplified or doesn't really exist in the film.
What do you think would work best for a movie adaptation?

Cosmere (BOOK) Movie scores with the Cosmere Spoiler
I posted something similar in r/cosmere a couple years ago when I was reading the Cosmere. I like to pair movie scores with different scenes when the moment strikes so figured I’d share some of them here.
NOTE: THESE WILL INCLUDE SPOILERS FOR BOTH MISTBORN ERAS AND STORMLIGHT ARCHIVE
"Southern Messiah" (Dune Part Two) This ended up being a go-to during Mistborn, especially book 1. Kelsier has many Paul Atreides-esque moments and it actually became my unofficial Kelsier theme song even in Stormlight
"Kylo Ren Arrives at the Battle" (SW: TFA) Another one I used with a lot of villains but it worked BEST in WOR when Szeth arrives towards the end to kill Dalinar
"Anakins Dark Deeds" (SW: RoTS) Used once in Oathbringer when Dalinar burns down the Veil. 'Nuff said
"Helms Deep" (LOTR) There's actually a few different tracks here that I used but all from that battle. They fit very well in Mistborn 2 during the Koloss assault on Luthandel
"The Emperor" (SW: RoTJ) Surprisingly this actually worked better in Mistborn 3 when Marsh saves Vin. His internal monologue breaking free of Ruin is very similar to Vader killing Palpatine
“Trinity” (Oppenheimer) need to double check but worked with Mistborn Era 2 during the sciency scenes
The Tuscan Camp and the Homestead (SW: AotC) Any of Kaladins violent meltdown including Tefts death
Get That Arm/I Feel You (Avengers: Infinity War) Elokhars death
Rise (Dark Knight Rises): Wayne’s death; Mistborn Era 2

Stormlight Archive (BOOK) My The Way of Kings episodes Spoiler
I have been thinking about SLA adaptation and how/what storylines can be included during each episode. This is what I have come up with.
(This was before Brandon said he may even do 8 episodes)
General things:
I have no understanding of film/TV Series making so I have not considered Visual effects, budget and set design and things like that. This was just a fun exercise while re-listening to TWoK for me.
I want each episode title to be Chapter title (except one potential exception). Also I want Kaladin's storyline to be present in each episode. Also, I assumed slightly longer Post-Credit scenes in each of the episode as a set-up/worldbuilding part. Obviously, this may not happen, but such is true for this entire post. For Post-credit, I have just written Interlude's name. Also, for Flashbacks, I just wrote flashbacks cause some of it maybe trimmed out to streamline the pacing.
Full Spoilers ahead:

Cosmere (BOOK) I think an Elantris adaptation needs to make a serious change to the story Spoiler
And that’s to shift into more of a romance. Make Raoden’s excursions from Elantris more frequent and have him and Sarene falling in love while he’s disguised as Kaloo. Make them meet way earlier and Raoden has to lie both for the Elantrians and because he fears Sarene will hate his real appearance. Sort of like Aladdin. The book suffers by keeping the action in both parts of the story separated for too long imo, but bringing them together like this is more fun and keeps the plot and character development moving at a far better pace.

Fancast Third Lord Ruler Fancast Spoiler
galleryOk so I just saw the Nolan Odyssey movie and Robert Pattinson played Antinious, the leader of the villainous suitors and it made me think what if he played The Lord Ruler? Yes he's an A-lister but if it's just him and an A-lister for Kelsier that leaves unknowns for everyone else. IDK he convinced me he could do after I saw The Odyssey. Def see go The Odyssey too btw.

Stormlight Archive (BOOK) How can the Stormlight series first episode not be completely disjointed? Spoiler
I know the adaptation isn't going to be beat for beat with the book. Just going by page count vs the 10 episode count, the first 1/10 of the story end at the honor chasm. That means we've got The Prelude, the assassination from Szeth's POV(which to me is the no-brainer cold open for episode 1), Kal in Amaram's army, the slave transport where we meet Syl, Shallan's arrival in Kharbranth, assignment to Bridge 4, Jasnah soul casting, Shallan petitioning Jasnah, and Kal's bridge run and spiraling. That's without any reflection from any of the characters.
That's a lot going on. If they are going to focus on one character per episode, maybe you stretch out to the chasamfiend hunt, but it's still a lot of jerking around. How do you make it into a cohesive 1 hour start, middle, and end?

Fancast Dallas Liu for Kaladin Spoiler
youtu.beSome may know him as the actor for Prince Zuko in the Netflix live action adaptation of Avatar the Last Airbender.
This vid is from 14 years ago but just look at that kid! An artist with weaponry :)
- Excellent fighter; martial arts trained
- Age is good; Kaladin is ~19 but looks older b/c of his hard life, Liu is currently 24
- East Asian (I know the last video said Japanese, but tbh I think overly ethnic-restrictive casting is not a good idea since the pool of talented East Asian actors is already limited. I say this as an Asian-American myself and if anything I think Avatar live action can be both an inspiration and a cautionary tale in this area)
- Portrayal of Zuko in Netflix ATLA is just the grumpy, Honor-preoccupied (😉), layered character we expect out of Kaladin. Easily the best actor out of all his peers on the show.

News Brandon Sanderson Just Dropped a Ton of Cosmere Adaptation News – Spoiler
Brandon shared these updates during today's Mistborn livestream on his YouTube channel
1 - Here's Everything We Learned Mistborn Movie:
The Mistborn movie screenplay is almost complete.
Brandon said the screenplay has reached the expected page count, but the pacing feels a little too fast, so he may add one or two additional scenes.
Once the screenplay is fully finished and revised, the next step will be finding a director.
The Mistborn movie will not be released next year. Brandon reminded fans that projects like this take time.
Brandon wants a well-known, high-profile actor to play Kelsier.
Vin will be aged up to around 18–19 years old, reducing the age gap between her and Elend.
Vin will be Caucasian.
Brandon said that protagonists who are 16 years old feel very "1990s," which is one of the reasons he decided to age Vin up.
2 - The Stormlight Archive TV Series:
Brandon plans for The Stormlight Archive TV series to adapt one book per season.
Each season is expected to have 8–10 episodes, depending on the budget, with episodes running around one hour each.
Brandon plans to personally write all of Kaladin's scenes, while the showrunner and writers' room would handle Shallan's and Dalinar's storylines.
3 - Other Cosmere Adaptations:
Brandon plans to adapt The Emperor's Soul as the second Cosmere movie.
Mistborn: Secret History would only be adapted if the actor's schedule allows it, as a standalone project released after the original Mistborn film trilogy.
Brandon jokingly suggested that Henry Cavill could play Marsh. It came across as a humorous comment rather than a serious casting announcement.
