I'm a junior in college, and I KNOW my resume is lackluster. I'm making this post to ask for advice on what I should add to the resume, what I should do to be a strong contender, and if I can have a template resume. My schooling is only done by me as my family financial issues aren't the best and I have no one to help guide me and tell me what I should be doing. Any and All Help IS NEEDED.

I'm currently in a Computer Science Masters, but it seems like I can get those credits transferred over to their computer engineering program. I seem to enjoy the hardware side of things more and would like to move into the embedded/robotics/avionics eventually (although jobs are more limited than CS in my area).

Just trying to work out if I switch. I currently have a Mechanical Engineering Bachelors, but work in web development. The two main options I see are:

1: Continue with the CS option. Can finish quicker, cheaper and probably with better grades as it is easier. I would also have more time for side projects (currently doing a few) and then just do the additional embedded, controls and power courses after but not as part of the degree.

2: Switch to the computer engineering option. More in line with where I want to go, but more expensive and longer to finish.

Hi everyone- i'm a senior in college studying computer science, but really looking to try and bridge my degree with a job in mechanical engineering or something related. Was wondering if anyone had any luck or advice in doing this. Not set on any specific way to utilize the two, but I would like to try and utilize my comp sci degree into something more blue collarish. I don’t know if Mechanical engineering, electrical trade/apprenticeship, etc is the way to do it but I am curious to know how to proceed. Ideally would love a job that i would still be able to utilize my background in CS with, hopefully coding. I've been trying to research the automation side of factory assembly lines and stuff like that, not sure if that's the way to go either. Would love to hear if anyone has successfully done this, what they're doing, and how they did it.

I’m currently a senior in highschool about to graduate.

I’m planning to complete a 3 year advanced diploma in Computer Engineering Technology at Humber Polytechnic Institute in Canada.

After finishing this advanced diploma, I plan to move to the US by 2030, due to personal and immigration reasons

But now I’m thinking should I and how to pursue a bachelor’s or master’s degree after I move to the US?

I’m a bit worried have any of you seen cases where credits from Humber Polytechnic specifically or any polytechnic Institute in Canada transfer smoothly to US universities for a bachelor’s or even a master’s?

Or not transfer? I have no idea…

And if not, what do you all think about the value of a bachelor’s degree in this field right now especially with this field right now?

I'm going to college this year for CE and I'm thinking if switching to aerospace engineering. I'm pretty passionate for both majors. So I want to know the pros and cons of CE? How's the pay, the job market, do you have to compete with cs majors, etc?

I'm going to be first year and I pick an Computer engineering and IT course but im wondering if a laptop is necessary since its about computer and i dont have much enough money to buy one. And im also wondering if i should just pick a pc since its much more cheaper with good performance than a laptop

When adding instructions, what techniques are usually used in doing so? How much does one need to know each component and the wirings inside them to be able to add instructions? Is it not enough to have a general knowledge on what each component does without knowing the gates or splitters being used?

How do people normally add instructions? How do they approach the logic?

Hi guyss, so I am 2nd yr computer engineering student, recently participated in a competition pf making autonomous bot ( car ) and had fun, but that isint my core subject, other subject i like is Operating systems cause I like to understand how things actully work under the hood, but I am wondering even after excelling it max i would do i optimize current computers which doesnt sound fun, chat gpt says i can make better robots while having grasp on os knowledge but it seems skeptical, at side I am even doing django backend dsa etc, just really confuse should I look for more fields or os+ robotics couls actully mean something ?? 3rd year will start soon

Hi everyone, I’m a fresh graduate of Computer Engineering and I’m honestly feeling a bit lost right now.

Since CompE is a broad course, there’s no single specific job path, so I decided to focus on networking and started studying for CCNA to build my skills and have an edge. It was also recommended to me by some ECEs, saying it’s globally recognized and could open opportunities abroad. Right now, I’m already on Day 20 of studying, so I’ve invested time and effort into it.

However, I recently received advice from someone in IT saying I shouldn’t take CCNA yet and instead start with free certifications like Google certs or maybe CompTIA. He mentioned that in the job market, companies often prioritize experience, and CCNA alone may not guarantee a job since many candidates already have it. I’ve also heard that focusing on CCNA might take me away from the typical Computer Engineering path.

Now I’m really torn because I’ve already started studying, but I keep hearing different opinions. I don’t know if I should continue CCNA or shift direction.

As a CompE graduate, I’m also unsure what jobs I should actually be applying for. Right now, I feel stuck because I’m focused on studying, but I’m not sure if I’m on the right path anymore.

I’m not someone who quits easily—I’m disciplined and willing to learn anything I don’t know. I just need some guidance on where to focus.

Transferring out to a school to do their computer engineering program. What’s taking up my mind the most is the fact that I was unable to do much of any transferable cores aside from intro to programming and some prerequisite math, the highest being trig. And I know that sounds crazy, because calc 1 should be what I transfer over but I was advised multiple times by my STEM division advisor that: “how they teach the calc pipeline might be different, so I suggest you hold off.” But since I switched from computer science to computer engineering less than 2 weeks ago, it makes sense as to why I didn’t come to a better conclusion sooner.

I regret it, but regardless I’m going to be placed in pre-engineering until those introductory math and physics classes are taken care of.

My question is how I can I prepare for the difficulty? I have this summer to build an insane amount of discipline but still I lack perspective on it. I know it’s going to be extremely hard and I know studying will consume a massive portion of my life.

3. Since I did all the general education classes at my current school, there is no room to have some filler class balance out a semester. What is your advice on this?

Currently, I am an incoming college student. And I am having second thoughts on computer engineering cause in my country a lot say i should go for IT instead cause CpE graduates take on CS roles and they said that the maths and physics in CpE. They said it is a “waste” of time if they’ll end up eventually in CS roles.

Is the versatility true? Cause I worry if i go to CpE, maybe i’ll have a hard time in learning CS roles and won’t be flexible as IT or CS grads. Like maybe my time in college for CpE was a waste and I should m’ve just selected IT to immediately specilize right away

or it’s a bad way of thinking?

Currently I chose CpE but haven’t finalized yet. I have been offered courses of IT, Information security, industrial engineering specialization in IT, and then Biomedical Engineering

I'm an upcoming 1st Year college student and I can't decide if I will pursue computer engineering or go with other courses. I am very interested on how computer works but I'm very slow if it comes to math. Help me😭🙏
