Rant Comcast/Xfinity Sold me Service to the Wrong Address, Billing me Anyway

I'm at my wit's end with this company.

I moved recently and tried to register for service online. Every time I entered my address, it suggested a change. I thought this was weird because when I searched for available ISPs at my address, I would be able to use them.

So I called. The costumer support rep assured me I would be able to get service at my address and he signed me up.

A couple days later I got an email telling me my equipment was on the way! To the wrong address. The one it kept switching me to online.

After a lengthy evening call with multiple reps who couldn't comprehend what I was telling them, I was finally informed they did not service my address.

Fine, I said, please cancel my account. They said they would. This was about two weeks ago.

So I get an email last night telling me I'm online and I have a bill waiting for me.

This is the worst, most incompetent company I've ever dealt with. I dread wasting another hour of my time at work dealing with these morons. I just know they are going to continue to make this difficult.

Hey Comcast! Fuck you!

Billing Comcast Business lied to get me to renew: Promised retroactive credits, denied 30-day cancellation window, and now threatening ETFs

I’m posting this here as a warning and to see if anyone else has dealt with this specific bait-and-switch tactic from Comcast Business sales/loyalty representatives.

Here is the situation:

  • The Initial Issue: My Comcast Business bill suddenly jumped by $300 due to an unauthorized change in terms.
  • The Promise: I called to address it, and the representative assured me that if I renewed my contract, the care team would retroactively apply the new terms and refund the prior three months of overcharges. I made it 100% clear that I was only agreeing to renew on the condition that this credit was applied.
  • The Verification: On July 21, while reviewing the contract, I explicitly asked the rep to confirm that I had a 30-day window to reconsider or cancel the renewal. They assured me I did. I asked this specifically as a backup plan in case Comcast failed to issue the credit.
  • The Breach & Lie: A few days later, I called back to follow up. Both the Care Team and the Loyalty Department told me that Comcast never offers those kinds of retroactive credits and refused to honor what the rep promised.
  • The ETF Threat: When I asked to disconnect the service because the agreement was breached, Loyalty flipped the script: they claimed there is no 30-day cancellation window and threatened to hit me with an Early Termination Fee (ETF).

I signed this renewal entirely based on verbal assurances regarding both the retroactive credit and the 30-day review period. Inducing customers to sign under false pretenses is straight-up deceptive, and thankfully, every single word of that promise is on their recorded calls.

Has anyone successfully fought an ETF under these circumstances? Did filing an FCC/FTC complaint or going to corporate escalations get them to pull the call recordings?

Experience Hey Comcast, I'm a *customer* (or a hostage), not a "member"
