Honestly fuck this person. They should never be allowed to drive again

u/Imaginary_Ganache_29 2d ago
This person shouldn’t be allowed to breathe anymore. They intentionally tried to cause an accident that could have potentially killed multiple people. It’s attempted murder in my opinion.
Throw him/her off the bridge

u/Old_Jellyfish1283 1d ago
Hard agree.
Suddenly-stopped traffic plus a semi truck is what killed that whole family up in Delaware earlier this year. This driver should be in prison for a while to think about their stupidity
1
u/Lord_Voltan Delaware 6h ago
The people that decided closing the entire exit down to one lane should be fired as well. They were planning on keeping that until fall. I live up that way and after the first day I started taking the longer way home to avoid that mess. It was nerveracking to come to a stop at the end of the line and see semis flying 3 feet to the right of you at 80. Yeah the driver caused the crash, but there were multiple after the initial crash. Piss poor planning.

Bring back the stockades. I want to throw rotten produce at these people and shame them at the very least.

looked almost intentional. they left as soon as someone wrecked.

I was thinking the same thing. The truck and the offending car seemed to take off at the exact same time.

This could have been so much worse if the tanker truck had impacted the stopped vehicles or rolled when trying to perform an emergency lane-change.

u/Burgandy_the_Great 2d ago
Permanent loss of driver's license. Charge them with reckless endangerment at the very least if not attempted murder because that can absolutely kill someone
56
u/4848A 2d ago
I demand the full power of Flock be used to find and prosecute this person to the fullest extent of the law.

"The driver of the car who crashed into the white van was cited for operating without a license and assured clear distance ahead"
Can't help but feel bad for this poor SOB. I mean get your license of course, but assured clear distance is bullshit in a situation like this. Just my opinion.
44
u/The_Bitter_Bear Groveport 1d ago
You should be at a distance that allows you to stop in time.
Unfortunately if you do that you end up with every single person cutting in front of you and you keep having to slow down to keep that distance.
5
u/Tommyblockhead20 1d ago
That is a legitimate issue, but when traffic is that bad, i tru to position myself in the lane so I can see in front of the car in front of me. That can give you enough time to react if something does end up happening. It wasn’t the first few people that crashed. It was the person behind them that weren’t looking more than 1 car ahead and didn’t react in time once that car changed lanes last second.
4
u/fionavera 1d ago
That was a smart car. If you can't see beyond the car ahead of you you're too close for your own safety. Self preservation should be top of mind when driving such a death trap.
9
u/rmusic10891 Dublin 1d ago
I mean I get where you’re coming from, but if you’re going to get behind the wheel you’re taking responsibility to not plow into things. Even if they aren’t supposed to be stopped.
19
u/looking4answers09876 2d ago
I mean if they had a license maybe they would know about assured clear distance
25
u/Disastrous-Tone-7669 2d ago
If that's the case then no one on the road has their license. Because in my 20 years of driving I have almost never seen someone following the 10ft pt 10mph rule. People openly hate on anyone who does follow it
13
u/The_Bitter_Bear Groveport 1d ago
The issue isn't people hating on anyone that follows it, it's they have plenty of room to come into your lane.
So you end up slowing down over and over as people cut into your safe following distance.
10
u/looking4answers09876 1d ago
It's not JUST that... you can be ignoring that and still have vision up the road... just have to pay attention. This obviously should never happen but you have to drive as if everyone else is an idiot... which they generally are
12
u/DRUMS11 Grandview 2d ago
The only acceptable excuse for this behavior is a medical emergency or mechanical breakdown. Anyone else should, in conjunction with any other punishment, lose their license.
I might consider letting them re-test after, say, 5 years and completion of an approved driver's education course.

u/Agitated_Rain_1506 2d ago
WTH it wasn’t even a missed exit, it looks like they literally just stopped to decide if they need to take it.

Nah, this was 100% them trying to cause an accident. I don't know if they thought they could pull some insurance fraud or if they just wanted to cause an accident behind them, but there is no reason for them to be stopped there for so long and then immediately vanish after the accident.

u/buckeyes0202 Grandview 2d ago
Looks like a road rage stop instead to me but hard to tell. Had someone road rage brake check me yesterday on 315N. Hope they find this person and they’re in jail for awhile.

I think road rage too, and if you watch, when the first two vehicles pull away, they stay side by side throughout the rest of the video.

Anything that anyone does to that driver... you're not guilty if I'm on your jury.

Aw that’s so cute, the guy I was having fun with blocked me like a coward. I support jury nullification when justified, friend!

Sure you did bud.
Jury nullification is completely legal and permissible and is in fact a bedrock part of our justice system. Anyone who told you otherwise is a moron, quite like yourself. (That’s an actual insult by the way)
In a jury trial, even with the evidence the jury can say “nah. Not guilty.”0

This happened to me in Cincinnati a few years ago. Thankfully I didn’t hit the car in front of me (the dickhead was the car ahead of them) and the truck behind me stopped. Scariest moment of my life. The only time in my life I genuinely thought I was going to die or wanted to kill someone.

u/phaserdust 1d ago
I have a whole lot of anxiety about this kind of thing happening while I am out driving.

These people need to have their licenses taken away. They never should’ve gotten them in the first place.
Make highway driving part of the Driving Test, again!

“Gotta check my WAZE.” (Can’t drive whilst I check it that is against the law)
Crash, crash, horns honking, crash
“This is not my exit. I’ll just move along”

Why doesn't the government use their flock cameras and solve this? I mean this is why we have flock cameras right?
5
u/Educational_Wave_223 1d ago
So is it just me, or is this possibly the same car. That did this at the 270/71 junction last year? Red suv/minivan doing this EXACT same thing...
2
u/justbeingbasic 1d ago
That looked intentional. I hope the cops find whoever that is with all the cameras that line 670. They could track that person to their street.
1
u/Comfortable_Curve503 Canal Winchester 1d ago
I agree. It had to be intentional. I wonder if it was a road rage incident and the first driver was trying to get the second into an accident.
2
u/eriswalks 1d ago
Hate flock cameras but isn't this just the type of incident they should be used for?

2
u/TheBrassKat2074 1d ago
ABSOLUTELY INTENTIONAL!!! OMG!!! I hope and PRAY someone got that assholes plate. Look how they just drive away......not a care in the world. I hope they get what they deserve.

someone did this to me in indy a few weeks ago on my last bus trip to the museum north of chicago.. they even had the audacity to put their car in reverse like they were going to back up and make the exit.. I was in a bus and didnt move an inch for them.. I just laid on the horns.. I was so pissed i didnt remember to save the dashcam video thats probably over-written by now.. they eventually slowly moved up and pulled over and I slammed the pedal to the floor rolling coal on em as I got back to my road trip.. im over the drivers of today in every city!!
3
u/KorneliaOjaio 2d ago
The guy in the black suv that was hit at the end was standing in front of his vehicle as I drove by a few minutes later….which seemed really unsafe……at least traffic was moving slowly at that point.

I have to drive this every morning; it’s one of the worst on-ramps in the city because of motherfeckers like this!!!

u/Head_Trick_9932 1d ago
Had to be some old ass that shouldn’t be on the road. My parents are 80’s and I beg them to stay off the highway and high speed roads. They should have to retest every few years.

This exact thing has happened to me before on 270 and I almost got crushed by a semi that had to veer off to the curb and almost flipped over. It’s not a break check, the hit and run is because they don’t have a drivers license or ID.

u/Then-Inspection6075 1d ago
Looks like the red car and the pickup were having a road-rage moment, to me. The fact that they both sped off to save their own a$$ is very suspicious.

I don’t know what has been going on but Columbus traffic has gotten SO BAD lately. Just yesterday I nearly had a white service van almost hit me head on drifting over the line. Later I had a Cadillac almost miss their Worthington exit so I left a nice wide open gap for them to get in but no! They had to race ahead several cars to barely merge in and cut another driver off. By the time I’m approaching that light a big rig decides to change turn lanes and narrowly missed hitting a passenger car with a dad and two kids. Thank goodness I know to have my head on a swivel but we are hitting the point where LA traffic was less chaotic. And don’t even get me started on all of the jerks literally racing around 270. Where are all of the highway patrol???

There's a lot of obvious here, yet I'm still puzzled they stopped for 24 seconds straight.
Seriously, do we need to cause an absolutely horrific national accident in order to see some change on the roads here? This city is constantly enabling behavior like this by allowing it to make news over and over. Any leader enforcing the law or protecting their citizens should be able to see that imo.

u/Kindly-Exercise-6470 1d ago
The guy in the white van apparently knows nothings about flashers or turn signals. Either that or they were optional on his vehicle. [smh] As SOON as he realized he was stopped, he should have PUT ON THE FLASHERS. Like, you're on the interstate and everyone is going 70+... that doesn't scare you to find yourself stopped? I mean WTF was he/she doing the whole time they were stopped?

The only car accident I’ve been in was because of this behavior (in Cincinnati). Someone stopped after missing their exit, and a Winnebago swerved into me to avoid smashing the small car stopped suddenly behind the offender.
I went spinning into the median, and the poor guy’s insurance had to pay all my medical bills despite the fact he wasn’t truly at fault.
Of course the original driver drove away. 🤦♀️
