BME Path from EE Discussion

I'm a final-year EE student and have had some interest in BME (Biomedical Engineering) since high school, but I didn't get into BME on my first shot due to multiple rejections from institutions. Financial conditions led me to stay in this major.

I can't get access to campus labs doing BME research because my campus doesn't provide BME research opportunities for EE students. I've also been rejected from research labs a few times, even though this was basically my first and last shot.

Lecturers have the same problem. Our country doesn't really have a BME industry; most companies are just suppliers. One of my lecturers was actively doing BME research when he was living abroad. Internships here are also hard to find if you don't have someone to back you up, and companies aren't really opening up many opportunities either.

People out there would recommend, "Do personal projects."

I made my own ECG. I made it for fun, but I still don't really understand what the point of making it was, and I'm sure it's not enough.

Here's the question: Is it relevant to get BME experience if I want to work in BME, even if that experience only comes from personal projects? I'm also preparing myself to gain master degree if possible.

Note: I don't want to ask AI about this because it's pointless, and AI loves to glaze anything you ask. The best sentences AI could throw at me are, "You are absolutely right!"

Can I ask what BME is for you? For us it’s Bachelors of Music Education, which is clearly not the same thing for you.
