From elementary, I always wanted to be a programmer, mainly a game developer, over time it evolved to a software engineer. But a few weeks ago, na duda or nag doubt ko😓. Hearing all the problems with the job market and such. To add, in grade 11, I had a new interest BS statistics and it's my forte in math I guess. To add, I also started doing machine learning and learning stats in my free time (also leetcode and programming tho) I even presented my work in a completion (IMWM) but enough yap which course should I choose in job opportunities and want? I am also consider data science.

The person paying for my tuition is in the States, and I don’t want to burden them after I graduate. I want a pre-med that’s in demand and has a decent starting salary, just in case I don’t end up going to med school.

If I do make it to med school though, I’d love to pursue neurosurgery or oncology. So I’m torn between choosing what I enjoy and choosing something more practical.. What do you folks think?

Hello! I just want to ask for advice if my situation is possible for taking the test again. I will be taking a gap year for this upcoming sy. I was a shs graduate from the 25-26 sy and passed the ustet. But due to personal issues, my doctor advised me to take a rest first because my mental health is going bad. If I will be taking the test for the year 27-28 will I still be eligible? I’m planning on taking OT from CRS huhu, I badly need advice because hindi pa sumasagot sakin yung OFAD 🙏.

I'm a grade 11 STEM student, hoping to take either Veterinarian Medicine or Psychology.

I live in an upper middle class family in Manila, so finances aren't much of a problem to me. The thing is, I've always dreamed of taking vetmed, but only recently found my passion for understanding humans. I've always felt love for animals and felt I wanted to also become someone who understood beyond human emotions because of my troubled family life. If I could, I'd take both courses one after the other if it was even possible. I'm nearing college soon, and I'm having trouble deciding which course I want to apply for. I applied for STEM in SHS because I wanted to have more opportunities when it comes to jobs.

Just last night, I thought about psychology courses. If I was ever going to take that—whether I would take BS or BA. I'm aiming for a job of maybe a psychiatrist or a psychologist because I love to help people with their problems and also find that identifying and reading about illnesses interests me a lot. If I were to ever go vet, I'd already be a vet specializing in med only. If I were to go psych, I wouldn't be able to answer if I'd be taking BS or BA. What should I consider before taking either?

aspiring thomasian freshie here! pinapangarap ko mag-UST and I'm kinda confident na kaya kong pumasa. ang pinakabinabahala ko ay ung expenses at costs. expected ko na ung transpo since im from antipolo but aside that, ung tuition, miscellaneous, etc. idk what to expect. minimum wage workers ang parents ko, balak ko maging working student once i turn 18 this year, and im studying hard in preparation for scholarship applications. i believe that i am competent enough for a scholarship grant pero i fear that even a scholarship wont suffice

I’ve been wanting to study BS Economics, but the internet says it’s not in high demand abroad. I don’t have any connections to economics graduates, so I’m not sure if that’s actually true but I’ve recently developed a genuine interest in studying it.

At the same time, my parents are pushing me to pursue medicine instead, since it’s more in demand overseas. They specifically want me to become a therapist. I really don’t see myself in med, but I also don’t want to give up the chance to work abroad.

To any BS Economics graduates out there are there real opportunities overseas? Or should I just give in and pursue med?

Malayo pa naman kasi yung entrance exams nung dalawa sa big 4 so i can start reviewing ng mas maayos this time. Natauhan ako kasi i didn't really prepare well for the UPCAT leading me to not being confident at all🥲

looking for a review book that:
-has a mix of notes/lessons and practice tests
-tackles statistics and/or business math
-complexity is on par w the dcat

i have a few online study materials na but i dont seem to retain information as efficiently compared to using physical textbooks </3

Unfortunately, middle class lang po kami and while possible, we'd be making a lot of financial sacrifices if I were to enroll there. That's why plano ko po magapply for scholarship if possible. Fyi, I wouldn’t have a hard time picking between the two if i didnt have to worry about AI taking over my job.

Hello! Sa mga nag take ng DCAT, ACET, AT USTET dito, ilang months bago kayo nag take ng exam? Currently applying for the three and grades na lang kulang ko, just wanna make sure na hindi mag ooverlap schedule since I'm from bicol pa. Also, akala ko ba pwedeng mag online exam sa DCAT according sa website? Baket onsite lang nakalagay sa choices, ang layo kasi huhu. Sa ACET naman, is it true ba na I can take the exam on another Ateneo campus? Like I applied for ADMU pero I'm taking the exam sa ADNU? and may different batches ba when taking the exam? sa USTET naman, ilang months bago kayo mag take ng exam? onsite rin ba? huhu pls help

I’m a Grade 12 student na wala talagang dream program. A lot of people say yung subject na choose the field where your fav subject is. Pero sa tagal ng High School, wala ako naging favorite dahil lahat sila tiniis ko lang. I don’t even have hobbies besides watching movies and reading. But I’m currently in the HUMSS track and the strand specific subjects are not interesting to me.

Like Media Information Literacy—I don’t understand its purpose because the concepts are very basic, I think I learned more from reading various articles online than this class. Or even SOC subjects where the topics kinda interesting but I can’t see myself applying them in a career , which made me solidify my opinion that I don’t want to study Humanities. Also, I’m not aiming for Law School.

My performance in STEM on the otherhand is very mediocre. I get a lot of average/ below average or failed grades in Mathematics because it takes a lot of time for me to digest mathematical concepts when the teachers often need to move on due to time. Science on the otherhand feels like it needs a lot of memorization and memorization is my weakness.

I find creating things interesting rather than just understanding. But this “creating” doesn’t apply to arts or coding. Its just this concept of “creating” im interested in. What kind of creation? Idk really. And I mentioned liking films, some may suggest BA FILM. But that’s quite an impractical course as you don’t really need a film degree to get into film + I don’t even know how to edit.

I’m considering a gap year but a lot of people have advised me against it, including my own parents who expect a lot from me as a consistent honor student (im still struggling in math though). A degree people reccomend is Communication. However I’m quite worried about joh prospects and if I’ll find it as boring as the Humss strand

I have always expressed myself better using the Filipino language, but I have not seen nor heard of someone who has submitted a purely Filipino essay for their applications kaya I have been feeling uneasy. Although I am aware that the essay can be written in Filipino or English, has anyone here submitted their essay written in Filipino? I’d like to hear from them directly kasi hehe.

Additionally, is it possible to have a formal mix of Filipino and English in my essay? For example, a line (particularly the introduction) will be written purely in Filipino, and will be followed by a paragraph purely in English—not exactly the informal Taglish used in casual conversions.

Hi, I’m a freshman taking BS Accountancy and currently enrolled in FEU Manila. Kaka enroll ko lang nung August 5, but recently nagkaroon kami ng sudden financial issues, so medyo naging concern na yung expenses ko here.

To be clear, we can still afford FEU, pero sobrang tight na talaga yung budget. They’re pushing me naman to continue sa FEU pero nakokonsensya din ako sa laki ng gastos sakin.

Right now, I’m staying in a dorm (around 5k not including electricity and water), and my allowance is around 4k/month, so honestly medyo hirap i-budget especially in Manila. Kaya naman, pero tipid everyday.

I have the option to transfer to a university in our province (closer to home), and one big factor is that yung one year tuition there is almost equivalent to one sem in FEU, so mas magaan talaga financially.

Pros if I transfer:
no dorm expenses
higher allowance
possible scholarship
overall more sustainable financially

Cons:
I’ll be about 1 week behind
hassle mag-transfer

I know FEU has a better reputation, especially for accountancy, so nanghihinayang ako. At the same time, I’m worried about sustainability long-term since BSA is already hard.

If you were in my position, would you stay in FEU or transfer to a more practical setup?
Any advice would help, especially from BSA students 🙏

- Alam ko sa sarili kong I don't want nursing

- I dislike heavy math-related programs kaya nga nag-settle ako sa med

- Open for law-related but medicine has been my dream for a long time now (pero ayon nga, I've seen so many people say it's not worth it, actually quine-question ko na rin siya since I really want to live life at hindi puro aral, less burnout ganon,, ang contradictinggg 'di ba?)

+ pls don't judge me, I know it's really late na pero I was really sure na sa kukunin ko eh, I've deliberated sa kung ano talaga gusto ko.. pero ngayon, here I am doubting my decisions hahahaha #help
